Vuelta al Pais Vasco Stage 5
A lot of escapes. Rabon is one of them
On the last climb of the day an escape still leads the race, it's David Lopez
But the favourites are coming. Samuel Sanchez and Barredo are the first
Then Kirchen and the other big names
On the downhill a chasing group is made behind Lopez by Kirchen, Barredo and Cobo
Because he tried to be very fast on the downhill, Samuel Sanchez crashed and he finshed behind the pack
Luis Leon Sanchez catches Kirchen's group on the last small hill of the day and Kim tries an another attack
And he even catches Lopez
As David Lopez is tired, no problem for Kirchen to beat him in the sprint
Third stage win for Kirchen and he even gets a gap between him and the other big names so the final overall victory looks very close now.

Paris - Roubaix
No breakaway when the first cobbles arrived
An attack by Flecha with 50km to go
Cancellara is the first to go after him
Then Hushovd and Hincapie
And we soon had a lot of big names in the front group, but Hincapie doens't look very good
Cancellara and Ballan went then by themselves letting the others behind
An acceleration by Cancellara and Ballan can't respond. The big move?
Fabian is first on the velodrome
His main chasers are Ballan and Flecha
With Devolder not far away
O'Grady and Gilbert are in the next group
Behind them Pozzato and our leader, Hincapie
A group with Vansummeren, Hoste, Van Avermaet, Langeveld, Breschel and Burghardt entered the velodrome right when Cancellara was doing his last lap
So Cancellara celebrates his win in The Hell of the North with Silence doing a team pursuit on his right
Flecha gets a deserved second place
Hincapie couldn't beat Pozzato in the sprint so he is only 8th
But at least we had 2 riders in top 10, Burghardt being last in the top.
Results
1. Fabian Cancellara Team CSC - Saxo Bank 7h21'52
2. Juan Antonio Flecha Rabobank + 1'07
3. Alessandro Ballan Lampre s.t.
4. Stijn Devolder Quick·Step + 1'38
5. Stuart O'Grady Quick·Step + 2'01
6. Philippe Gilbert Française des Jeux s.t.
7. Filippo Pozzato Liquigas + 3'12
8. George Hincapie Team Columbia s.t.
9. Matti Breschel Team CSC - Saxo Bank + 3'42
10. Marcus Burghardt Team Columbia s.t. |

Amstel Gold Race
A lot of riders in the breakaway today.
Rebellin tried his chance with an early attack
Attacks from Schleck and Aerts. Rebellin is caught.
Dekker and Kirchen are there too
Then Kirchen tries to take the race on his own
He has now almost one minute advantage over a group of 30 riders, with all the big names in that group
But at the end of Keutenberg he is caught by some of those favourites
So now a big group is fighting for the win. Schleck, Kirchen, Dekker, Pellizotti, Schumacher, Wegmann, Voigt, Valverde, Elmiger, Vaugrenard, Cunego, Nocentini and Vanendert are all there
An another attack from Kirchen!
Dekker is the first one to go after him
And now Thomas took the lead
More problems for Kirchen as Voigt cames on board
Dekker looks like going to win today
Kirchen and Voigt aren't secure with their places on the podium as Valverde, Schleck and Wegmann are coming fast
So Dekker takes the win in Amstel Gold Race
Kirchen was beaten by Valverde and Schleck but he managed to keep his ass in front of Fabi Wegmann and took the fifth spot
Results
1. Thomas Dekker Rabobank 6h33'35
2. Jens Voigt Quick·Step + 25
3. Alejandro Valverde Caisse d'Epargne s.t.
4. Fränk Schleck Team CSC - Saxo Bank s.t.
5. Kim Kirchen Team Columbia + 37
6. Fabian Wegmann Team CSC - Saxo Bank s.t.
7. Stefan Schumacher Gerolsteiner s.t.
8. Martin Elmiger AG2R La Mondiale s.t.
9. Rinaldo Nocentini AG2R La Mondiale s.t.
10. Jelle Vanendert Française des Jeux s.t. |
