Only in my long abandoned dreams.
But I still train twice a day very regularly (when nothing in my body is broken, which is no that often) like pro sportsman would do. |

Cycling, I guess?
Still, you do races and stuff or not at all?
Long abandoned dreams, that means you didn't go for it? |

Let's make a long story short : I don't and didn't have the talent, whatever the medical tests once said. Still I guess what I do or did wasn't so bad for somebody with a hematocrit rate of 40-42%.
I did many races as a cyclist in the late 90's early 2000's, and was a in a special "sport & studies" section in middle/high-school.
Nowadays I'm only competing in road running events, but I keep cycling 5000+ km a year (I reckon I'd end up with 6000+ would I not be injured so often). It's a convenient back up training, as I can train on the home-trainer in the morning before going to work, or when it's dark outside, etc.
As I've joined a track & field club, I might do a little more than road running events (cross-country + track events are possibilities). I might also give a shot at triathlons for beginners (but I suck at swimming), in team triathlons (where I'd do the cycling part - I'm a TT guy), and I may do cyclo-sportive events as well (I'm contemplating doing La Marmotte in July).
Sadly I've injured myself again two or three weeks ago (pulled a calf muscle) but can still do any sport but running.

Well, if you're still enjoying it, that's the main thing isn't it?
Duathlon sounds like it might be a nice solution for you! |

Got a nice watch, a pair of boots and some gloves.
Stuffed? Didn't you mean to say drunk?
Welcome to *hick* Christmas - Northern style.

Yeah, but even there, the best Frenchman is a local guy (lives in Brest), who runs 10k below 30 minutes and has a VO2 of 80 or something like that.
There are also one or two other guys from right here, who're in the national team, so I'd stand no chance on whichever level, with a VO2 that is around 60 when I'm in form, and was around 66 when I was a cyclist.
I'd definitely need some more red cells to stand a chance against guys like that. Too bad Santa has forgotten my EPO, once again.
I might give it a shot some day though, but it's not such a popular sport around here (nor in other places it seems).
As you said, enjoying the sport I'm doing is the essential aspect for me.

Speaking of games, any ideas for a fun multiplayer (as in split-screen with friends, not online) racing game for PS3 |

Speaking of really fun splitscreen racing was the last Midnight Club games.
I don`t think you can play splitscreen with the Los Angeles one. But the last one, that was also available on PS2 wsa brilliant.
Lots of opportunities, great tracks, nice cars, and most important much fun. |

For fun: F1 Race Stars all the way
If you want a little more serious game, I'd recommend GT5.

Ha, I just got my brother that game
I think Mike has Gran Turismo 5, but I can't remember.
Anyway, you should get GT5 if you dont have it, and also Dirt 3 I think has some cool modes to play on Split-Screen. Im not 100% sure, but i know for online there are more than just "races". Theres also like skill runs. Could try Motorstorm or Motorstorm Pacific Rift as well. Or if you already have Wipeout, as it was one of the free games available after the hacking a few years ago.
For me, I got some clothes, a hoodie, UnderArmour, lots of chocolate, some running stuff, and enough money to buy some sweatpants, a few games if I want, and whatever else I feel like really.

I got:
a book which I probably won't read anyways because there are still about 10 books waiting for me
a South Park calendar for 2013
a DVD of the New Year's conference of Maarten van Rossem (brilliant)
Well, I guess Santa had to compensate last year's PS3 + GT5 and FIFA 12

Even though splitscreen multiplayer is about to die because many developers are switching to online multiplayer, I am surprised that I found many ones^^
I just have a XBOX 360, so normally I would say get a XBOX 360 and Forza 4 and Project Gotham Racing 4 , and the PSP but my brother has a PS3.
A safe bet is Gran Turismo 5 as I know it has got a splitscreen multiplayer mode. But I would just play it with driving aids with a controller.
There is a 30€ Academy Edition version out there with some DLCs and I guess that would be worth it as Spa-Franchorchamps is in there.
So these here are "maybe they have one around 60%, maybe not so I can't guarantee it 40%":
- Twisted Metal
I am not so sure if it qualifies as a racing game^^
- F1 Race Stars
Mario Kart with F1 drivers/teams/cars it's ok but I think the steering is a bit not that good like at other arcade games so I would download the demo before
- LittleBigPlanet Karting
Haven't played that at all but the "main" game of the series LittleBigPlanet is fun so I guess they could also make a fun racing game
- SplitSecond
Its fun as you can play with the enviroment so it creates shortcuts for some seconds or slowing down the opponents by letting things exploding etc.
- NASCAR
I think it has a splitscreen mode but I am unsure. If you think NASCAR is boring because it has got just 2 turns then think again.
- Blur
Mario Kart with real cars. Actually it wasn't a bad game but somehow wasn't well taken by customers (or lets say Activision wanted to rush the game out and had to compete with a lot of games even with Splitsecond which is similar) even the game is good. Lead unfortunately that Bizarre Creations had to shut down what a shame.
- Dirt 3
It's a fun game and I am pretty sure that I saw splitscreen multiplayer screenshots.
Even though as someone who likes more serious (rally) racing games I would say it's fun but it's more like a Ken Block game and not a Colin McRae one (so thats why it's not the Colin series anymore)
If you grab it, be sure it's the Complete Edition as there are more tracks and cars.
- Motorstorm: Apocalypse
Don't buy the first one as it hasn't got a splitscreen multiplayer mode.
But I am sure that Motorstorm: Apocalypse has one.
It's a offroad arcade game that has some likes of Splitsecond, you can drive buggys or motorcycles etc.
I would recommend:
1. Gran Turismo 5
2. Dirt 3
3. Blur

Forza is too good of a game for Xbox. I wish they started to make for PS3 as wel.. I will definitely recommend GT5, too good of a game to not like. Motorstorm is also pretty good. |
