The final stage to Paris, where the riders finally see theire famili and friends after 3 weeks of cycling through France.
52km to go
A breakaway of 13 riders, including Vaitkus, Nuyens, Leukemans, Van Emden and Felline, turn into the Champs d'Elysées for the first time. They have a lead of 3'51 to the peloton.
20km to go
With only 20km to go, Bjorn Leukemans gives it a final try. He knws it will be fruitless, but this is nice for the cameras and his familiy.
5km to go
Why not try an again? Leukemans is back in the peloton, and we have taken the lead with 5km to go. We've failed in doing this a lot, but why not try again?
1500m to go
But as all the times before, we get overtaken by the other teams (Westra at dot 99, at 2.5km Sagan sprinting at aggressive and dot 95....). Eisel is leading out Cavendish, with Haussler in his wheel and Farrar a little behind. Can Cav finally do it this time?
Finish
Of course not. Although getting his best result (2nd), Tyler Farrar is unbeatable this Tour de France when it comes to mass sprints. He wins all 5 of them, taking the green jersey very very deserved!
And Kittel? Despite a good looking train, he sprints to the 12th place. His daily form wasn't the best (0), but again a disappointing result....
Nibali
Vincenzo Nibali ends the last stage in 15th place, winning his first Tour de France with a margin of 11 seconds. Congratulations to the Italian!

GC
After one of the most thrilling Tour de Frances in history, Vincenzo Nibali becomes the successor of Marco Pantani, the last Italian winner in 1998. He rode 8 days in the maillot jaune, only loosing it to Robert Gesink for 3 days. But Gesink wasn't the only threat, as Cadel Evans imrpoved every stage, winning 4 of them and only be 11 seconds slower after more than 88 hours of cycling.

5 stages turned into a mass sprint and 5 times, Tyler Farrar won the stage. The American had the perfect lead out with Tom Boonen and Gerald Ciolek and always paid their trust. For the other sprinters, only top 3 finishes remained, with surprisingly Heinrich Haussler and Romain Feillu being the most consistent.

U25
The U25-jersey is meant to be awarded to the most promising young rider. This years ranking, is a disappointment, as we don't see future GT-winners in it. Okay, riders as Sicard, Sagan and Urán are talented, but they wil never win a GC. Nevertheless, this is a great result for Wout Poels, bringing home the white jersey!

Teams
Team Radio Shack - Nissan was without a doubt the strongest team. Although lacking a sprinter, they had great time trialists (Cancellara, Klöden, Monfort) and great climbers (Nibali, Schleck, KlOéden, De Weert). So a deserved win of the teams ranking.
Summary
21 stages and over 3000 kilometres, more than 88 hours of cycling with legendary places as the Alpe d'Huez, Galibier, Tourmalet and the Champs d'Elysées. This resulted in 5 mass sprints, 8 breakaway wins, one dominating sprinter, and 3 close contenders for the GC. I think, one of the most exciting Tour de Frances in years!

Positives
Although winning one stage (the 11th to Foix), Vincenzo Nibali was the most consistent rider. He started the Giro with a great form, after dominating the Tour de Suisse, and manages to keep that level.
Cadel Evans started the Tour a little bit bad, but his form increased, winning 4 stages, including the 3 mountain top finishes and the final ITT. But again, he missed the GC-win...
Starting as the biggest favourite, winning one stage, and being in th elead for 3 days, finishing in 3rd is a bit disappointing. But knowing that he gave it all in the TT, and winning the KOTM-jersey, Robert Gesink can look back at a very good Tour. He'll win it one day, that's for sure.
5 mass sprints, 5 wins. Nothing more to be said for the winner of the green jersey, Tyler Farrar.
A team with 3 stage wins, and none of them in a mass sprint or by a GC-contender. Breakaway wins with Jussi Veikkanen, Lars Ytting Bak and Jurgen Van den Broeck make it a very positive Tour for Lotto - Belisol.
Negatives
29th position at 53 minutes.... Ivan Basso was an outsider for the podium, but with a reult like this, it seems that his GT-ambitions can be put in a closet.
We'll never know how well Roman Kreuziger would have done without that crash in the first stage. But the fact is, that the Czech never was seen in the first ranks.
Having raced more than 75 days when this Tour ends, this was too much for exhausted Purito. So a disappointing Tour for Joaquím Rodríguez, who only rode a good result in stage 1.
The fastest man on a bike, ha to give that title to Tyler Farrar. Mark Cavendish didn't won a stage, and was only close in the last one. That's very disappointing.
After winning a lot earlier this season, it wasn't menat to be in this Tour. But Matthew Goss is still young, so maybe next year?
Our team
Reviewing our Tour de France, our thoughts are positive. Okay, we're very disappointed that Gesink lost the lead in the final ITT, but we feel he can't be blamed. So with the total amount of one stage win, one KOTM-jersey, one U25-jersey, 2nd in the Teams-rankings, and getting a lot of Top 5's in the stages, we can be happy about it.
Now, all eyes are focused at the Vuelta, we need to win that!!!!

Stage 2
The next stage is a short mountain stage, with finish at the Cima Poffe.
When the BOTD was caught in the final ascend, Matteo Carrara (Vacansoleil) attacks with about 4km to go. Our best climber Francis De Greef ride up in his own high pace and at the finish, he almost catches Carrara. But the win, and GC-lead goes to the Vacansoleil-rider.
That was great Tour for you imo, Gesink got a very good podium as well as dominating KotM and U25 jersey and doing great in Team Competition. Nothing to complain about. Greef already started nice in Brixia, that's a very nice result. Good luck for upcoming stages

Stage 3
Stage 3, with start and finish in Pisogne, is for the sprinters.
Martijn Maaskant attacked on a small hill, with about 10km to go. He got a gap of 30 seconds to the peloton, but got past in the last metres of the race. So close....
The sprint was won by Mauro Finetto, followed by Marco Bandiera. Maaskant finished in 3rd.

Stage 4 is the queens stage, with 3 climb, including 2 times the Passo Maniva, the last time is also the finish.
Just like in stage 2, Matteo Carrara attacks with a few km to go. This time De Greef can't follow and will finish in 6th at '48. Carrara is looking to take his 2nd stage win, but shortly before the finish, he looses speed and Liquigas Damiano Caruso takes over and wins the stage.

Overall winner
Word from the DS
A 2nd place and a 3rd in a stage, and 6th in the GC. We can be happy with that.
Congrats for an amazing Tour de France in my opinion. Great reports, great results and an awesome summary in the end. Thanks for keep it going! And of course good luck for the upcoming races.
One day after the Tour, we show up in Basque country to prepare us for the Clasica San Sebastian. Last year, we won this Preuba Villafranca - Ordiziako Klasika, a hilly race with 7 climbs in it. 5 times the Alto de Abalzisketa, 4.3km at 5.4% with a max. gradient of 16%, and 2 times the Alto de Altzo, 2.5km at 7.3% with a max. gradient of 14%.
Last year, we dominated the 90th edition, with the win by Andy Schleck. Ricardo Montero is the record winner, with 5 wins between 1927 and 1935.

Sorry, forgot to export it.
Our team
The favourites ***Robert Gesink, Peter Sagan, Jelle Vanendert ** Igor Antón & Mikel Astarloza (Euskaltel), David López (Movistar) *Wout Poels & Thomas Dekker, Brice Feillu (Saur), Tejay van Garderen (Colnago)
The race
45km to go
With Marcel Kittel & Lieuwe Westra working hard not to let a breakaway take a big gap (and they succeeded in doing it, as 2 times a breakaway was formed, getting a max lead of 3 minutes, but to be caught every time), the pace was that high that a lot of riders got dropped before the final starts.
In the penultimate ascend of the Alto de Abalzisketa, only 29 riders are in the first group. This makes the race much easier to control!
24km to go
At the summit of the Alto de Abalzisketa, Thomas Dekker sneaks away. He has a lead of 30 seconds towards a 18-man chasing group, including 6 Monster Energy-riders, 3 from Euskaltel (Antón, Astarloza & Oroz), 4 from Saur (Feillu, Joly, Hivert & Stalder), 1 from CCC (Marczynski), 2 from Movistar (Pérez & López), 1 from Andalucia (Gutiérrez) and 1 from Colnago (Van Garderen).
20km to go
The leading group has started the ascend of the Alto de Altzo. The Spanish rider realize that the only way to win this race, is to attack. So when Dekker is caught, David López and Igor Antón attack.
15km to go
We can easily counter this attack and the result is that the leading group has become smaller, only 8 left: Dekker, Gesink, Sagan & Vanendert, Antón & Astarloza, López and Feillu.
We see that our opponents are more dead than alive, so feel confident with 3 riders that can attack and win this race.
10km to go Jelle Vanendert sets a high pace in the ascend of the Alto de Abalzisketa. Dekker and Feillu get dropped and than Vanendert simply rides away from the Spanish opponents. He quickly creates a gap of 30 seconds.
Finish
That gap increases to a minute, so we didnt even had to attack to win this Ordiziaka Klasika. It's the 2nd win of the season for Jelle Vanendert, besides a stage in the Critérium du Dauphinée.
2nd place Peter Sagan & Robert Gesink didn't have to work a single meter this race, they have enough energy left to make it a 1-2-3 for the Monster Energy - Ford team. With 6 in the Top 10, this has been an awesome race for us.

Today's winner
Word from the DS
You can call it tactical domination, or you can call it too easy / superior. ALll our hilly riders had a great form, so we could dominate the race.
Like last year, we take part in the Tour de Wallonie. This 5-stage race consists of hilly stages and flat stages, and we have good memories of it, as last year Pim Ligthart won the GC, in front of his team mates Sep Vanmarcke and Jens Keukeleire.

Stage 1
The first stage between Amay and Banneux is the queen's stage, with a lot of hills in it.
A breakaway of 6 riders (F. Amorison (Landbouwkrediet), S. Caethoven (Veranda's), N. Eeckhout (An Post), S. Joseph (Topsport), B. Markus (Rabo CT) and M. Pinotti (BMC)) is stronger than expected by the peloton, and they won't be caught. Well, in the last flat part after the final climb, all but Eeckhout get overtaken by the peloton. The win goes to 41-year-old Nico Eeckhout, who manages to finish just in front of the peloton, leaded by Gianni Meersman and Sébastien Rosseler.

Stage 2
The 2nd stage to Houffalize has a very difficult finish, with the Mur St. Roch. It's steep uphill.
After the BOTD gets caught with less than 5km to go, we've set up a nice train for Jens Keukeleire. He is perfectly launched by Sébastien Rosseler and takes the win. Funny fact: he also won this stage last year!

Stage 3
The 3rd stage from Sambreville to Perwez is almost flat, so it should end in a mass sprint.
And it ends in a mass sprint. The win goes to Edvald Boasson Hagen, finishing perfect work from his team. Our riders have a bad daily form, and finish outside the top 10.

Also stage 4 to Mouscron should end in a mass sprint.
But this time, it won't. A group of 13 riders just stay out of reach of the peloton and Thiago Machado wins the sprint of that group.

Stage 5
The 5th stage finishes in Thuin with inside the last kilometre 600 ascendings meters with an average gradient of 8.1%.
Just as one day before, a breakaway of 13 riders manages to stay out of reach of the peloton. Sky's Thomas Löfkvist wins the sprint at the Mur de Thuin. The peloton finishes at '39,and because no time gaps are given, the 30th place is enough for Nico Eeckhout to win the Tour de Wallonie.

Overall winner
Word from the DS
Now this was a good Tour de Wallonie for us. One stage win, some podium finishes, and a second in the GC. We even had 4 riders in the Top 10. Congrats to Nico Eeckhout, as this will probably his farewell gift to his cycling career.
