Great win by Hansen. Love the lad.
Getting the feeling I'm the only one around who doesnt like Adam Hansen
Why? I'm not being critical, I'm just curious. I had always thought he was one of the few guys who absolutely everyone loves.

I'm with you. Only reason to not love Hansen is because he's too awesome (just kidding)... hm, but come to think of it: Even then, that is not enough reason to not love this crazy Aussie.
In more "serious" (ha!, as if) debatte: A guy who has done like what, twelve consecutive Grand Tours and still is in breakaways and tries to go for wins when he feels like it. Who is working his ass of for his captains, yet is getting a stage win on a tough stage like today. Always ready to crack a smile, make a nice comment, drinks a beer alongside crazy belgians on freaking Alpe d'Huez. A guy who loves racing for the pure joy of it. On top of that, he is a frakking fashionista & entrepreneur besides being one of the most entertaining guys on twitter (always look forward to his training camp tweets). And Ì'm obviously not serious here, but if there is something like the nine circles of hell by Dante for cycling than "not liking Hansen" is probably the first and last of them.
So yeah, uhm.. in short: I'm curious too why you don't like him? No prejudice, pressure, judgement and all, just curiositiy.

Well day of decision 2014, excited... Bring it on.
After 42 kilometres of racing it looks like these four are our escapees of the day, with a gap of 1:08 now. He's a reminder of the men out front Przemyslaw Niemiec (Lampre-Merida), Wout Poels (Omega Pharma-QuickStep), Jerome Coppel (Cofidis), Maxime Mederel (Europcar)
CN Ticker
Poels and Niemiec yet in another breakaway.

Not to answer on jacob's behalf, but I just quoted some of which Shonak said: "A guy who has done like what, twelve consecutive Grand Tours and still is in breakaways and tries to go for wins when he feels like it. Who is working his ass of for his captains, yet is getting a stage win on a tough stage like today."
That could be the reason. Isn't what you said, lets say, almost too good to be true in a highly competitive sport and tearing sport like cycling? Let me clarify that I dont have any problems with Hansen (neither do i specifically like him), but that could be a reason. |

Yup, today is one of those stages where I will be highly disappointed if it isn't won by the best. Thinking Tourmalet 2010, Annecy Semnoz 2013. Not that nonsense on Zoncolan this year.
Sky should be the team with the biggest responsibility here. |

Why Sky? For the Boni seconds? I think they know that Froome will never gain a minute on Contador. |

The stage win on such a stage is always great. Froome has shown that he may be the strongest at the moment and i can't see why they wouldn't at least try to keep it together. Its not like there's a hard stage tomorrow either. The same goes for Katusha and Movistar, but I can see why they would be reluctant to pull since Rodriguez and Valverde probably can't win since Contador and Froome obviously are better on those types of climbs
Edit: And Astana as well. Give Aru the opportunity and get Zeits on those guys to the front. Literally no cons here.

Brailsford seemed to be still convinced that Froome has a shot and they surely try or at least they'll go down gun-blazing.
Overall victory aside, SKY havn't won a single Grand Tour stage this year. So that must be enough motivation for them.

6 min for breakaway with 50 kms to go. Does not look like it will be enough. Will need atleast 4 min at final climb. If Sky set their tempo then it will be game over. But lets see. |
