So, will Silvio Herklotz be shining in Poland today?
Solid first stage. The favourites Rebellin, Rutkiewicz, Barta and Huzarski took 50 seconds on him with two others. Still a good 9th place with shattered groups behind.

Actually Arne Egner was 9th if Cq ranking is correct.

Well, they probably set-up this race + Tour de Pologne as some of their goal for their season.

Everything would have been a huge surprise otherwise.
Herklotz is really having a great year so far. Looking good for the future.

I might add it was really bad weather in Poland with 6°C and heavy rain, that values his performance even higher compared to the veterans around him.

I don't know any more details but Jan Barta wins the TT of the Szlakiem Grodòw Piastowskich (Grody) and takes the leader's jersey.

Vuelta a la Comunidad de Madrid (1.1)
Javier Moreno Movistar 4:00:00 Mikel Landa Euskaltel " Delio Fernandez OFM - Quinta da Lixa 0:04 Ruben Plaza Movistar 0:20 Amets Txurruka Caja Rural 0:27 Marcos Garcia Caja Rural 0:29 Mikel Bizkarra Euskadi 0:31 Danail Petrov Caja Rural 0:41 Sylvester Szmyd Movistar 0:49 Aleksey Rybalkin Lokosphinx 1:06
Another former Konya Torku rider in Petrov there. But more importantly that's an incredible result from Landa.

I wouldn't call it incredible. Last year in at GP Migueld Indurain ( with much better lineup than this race had ) he came 2nd. Similar performance. Still good to see him doing well, Euskaltel needs it.

Petrov already had results before going to Konya Torku.

I think incredible is kind of an overstatement. I think it's rather the kind of performance we all expected from Landa instead of the total suckage of this season, until today.

I know, just making a point
EDIT: And by incredible I more meant the size of the gaps. But yeah I admit, probably an overstatement.

11 km to go in Dunkirk, 30" for El Farès and Kadri who've just dropped Guillou. Elmiger (which the commentators on ES keep calling ElmiNger), tried but has been brought back.
FDJeux setting a tempo, with all the sprinters (theirs and others) still there.
I'd bet one euro on the break, if I had to.
edit : thankfully I didn't have to. FDJeux paced the peloton very constantly, slowly annihilating the break.
With 3 km to go on the penultimate mount, Vachon attacked, with a couple of other guys who didn't make it anywhere. Démare only had Vaugrenard then, who paced him until the bottom of the last climb, starting with 1,1 km to go.
Vachon then had like a 10 seconds gap on a 30 guys peloton.
I thought Démare would crack there, but he started pacing the peloton, before attacking (wtf), and almost closed the gap to Vachon. Only Michel Kreder and 3 or 4 other guys managed to hang on.
Vachon still had 3 or 4 seconds with 300 m to go, on the flat. Kreder launched a long sprint and passed Vachon 20 m from the line. Heartbreaking for Vachon...
Démare was too exhausted to sprint efficiently, he finished fourth but is now in excellent position to win the G.C. (today's stage was the hardest one).
