Ronaldo might be a good player but definatly not a team player. I can`t remeber any good game for Portugal by him in the last 5 years. Even against North Korea he started playing after the 4:0. This team could be much stronger without him. He is always running strict into an opponent. If he had played the ball in half of his dribblings they would have much more chances than this way,

As for this team not being as strong as 2004: LOL. In fact, the same reaction for any Portugal team being weaker than the 2004 team.

Incidentely how do people feel the round of 16 will go:
Uruguay to beat South Korea - I am not sure about South Korea defensively at all, seemed a bit fortunate to hang on against Nigeria. Uruguay have come out of not such a strong group but seem solid enough and Forlan has been one of the players of the tournament.
USA to beat Ghana - Ghana seem well organised with one or two stand out players up front so this one is not clear cut at all. Feel USA have more of an attacking drive, if they go behind I think they could equalise not so sure the outher way round.
Germany vs England - difficult one, probably depends on Ozil and on how bigger influence he is. England have played in fits and starts, but so have the Germans. At a push my head says Germany to edge it.
Argentina to beat Mexico - Mexico have no cutting edge. Played well in first half of every game, but did not create enough oppurtunities to score goals. Argentina have wonderful front players and Messi is performing well.
Holland to beat Slovakia - Slovakia have some dangerous plays and in the right frame of mind could give Holland a game. But Holland have some great options going forward and have been solid, if mostly unchallenged at the back.
Brazil to beat Chile - Most impressive performance of the tournament? Brazil's victory over the Ivory Coast is what Dunga's Brazil are about. Chile are unorthodox but their system may unravel against Brazils formation.
Paraguay vs Japan - Going to go for Paraguay, both teams have done well to get to the 2nd round. Japan's free kicks against Denmark another tournament highlight. Paraguay have a real steel about them and a pragmatic manager to just edge this.
Spain to beat Portugal - Spain have not impressed, hoping the chance to knock out their neighbours wakes them up from their lull. Portugal have benefitted from tactics in their group, Brazil and Ivory Coast played for the 0-0 and North Korea well fell apart.
Interesting that we could have 4 south Americans in the quarters , with a reasonable chance of an Argentina - Brazil final? Europes best hopes seems pinned on Holland, a better Spain or possibly England/Germany. |

Absolutely unqualified guesses.
Uruguay - South Korea
USA - Ghana
Germany - England
Argentina - Mexico
Holland - Slovakia
Brazil - Chile
Paraguay - Japan
Portugal - Spain
No, i really dont think Spain is capable of playing football in this tourrnament.

My guess. I want to see an African team in quarter final
And there is no way England can beat us |

Cacau is out of the game due to problems with his stomach muscles.
He could have been handy against the (slow) English central defenders.
Scweinsteiger and Boateng questionable due to injuries sustained against Ghana.
If Schweinsteiger is out, Toni Kroos will likely play instead. They will of course miss the former, but the latter will probably do just nice.
Anyway, Germany will probably take it, but football is football I suppose. |

Germany just have 2 real defense midfielders with Schweinsteiger and Khedira. That is the biggest problem. All alternative injured directly before WC2010 with Ballack, Westermann, Träsch and Rolfes. The other alternative like Frings and Hitzlsperger and Gentner aren`t nominated.
Kroos normally plays on Özil`s position, so I hope he can play a really good game there. |

Yeah, Toni Kroos is a good player, but I don't know if it'll be enough.
I think England will now start a completely new WC.

Uruguay - South Korea
I have the feeling that the RoK will somehow ruin Uruguay's WC. They play a fluid football, and my doubts are more in how well will their not that good defence control Forlán. Uruguay, on the other hand, plays quite poorly.
USA - Ghana
I doubt if the USA will be able to beat a physical and tactically pretty good team as Ghana, which, unlike Algeria, also has a more than decent attck, with some players who have the abilities to break USA's defence (I specially liked Ayew so far). But I liked how the US team plays, with Bradley being, imo, one of the best players of the WC's first round, and Donovan and Altidore doing a very good job, so I'll go with them.
Germany - England
Well, Germany impressed everyone against Australia, but they've been unable to repeat such a performance since then. On the other hand, England haven't played anywhere near their supposed level, but they have Capello, and that's enough for me to believe they can get very far in this WC.
Argentina - Mexico
Mexico's forward is Guille Franco. They'll be eliminated /discussion. Aguirre doesn't seem to be disposed to change this, so I have very few hopes for Mexico. They are making a good game, but if you can't score, a team with Messi, HiguaÃn, Agüero, D.Milito, Tévez, etc. will destroy you.
Holland - Slovakia
Hmm, I'll be very surprised if a team like Slovakia can put the Netherlands even in a bit of a trouble. Maybe if Hamsik definitely wakes up...no, no way even if this happens.
Brazil - Chile
I hope that Chile go through, but Brazil counter-attack style can destroy a team which leaves so much space as Chile does. It's gonna be an amazing match.
Paraguay - Japan
I liked Japan in their match against Denmark, but Paraguay should be able to win. They are better than the japanese at almost everything. Watch out Japan's counter-attacks though.
Portugal - Spain
Well, I just can't see how Portugal could win Spain. Portugal is defending quite goodly, so if they can neutralize Villa and Iniesta, they could have some chances, but I find it difficult for Portugal not just to do this, but also to score against Spain. |

Yes he played there last time against England and was the best player on the field. But he is much too important on his side and he never played there since that game
And on his right side there are no real alternatives. That`s what some Germans didn`t understand why Löw didn`t nominated a further DM after all these injuries. |

Yeah can happen. But USA can threaten them, maybe Ghana too. Korea did as well, they just didn't take their chances. |

It's definitely doable for Uruguay.
Anyway, hoping for USA in the upcoming game. Hopefully, Feilhaber will get some time on the pitch |

There were actually four teams today.
Short-passing-super-fluent Korea against an overly defensive Uruguay, and long-passing-gets-you-nowhere Korea against Uruguay that can beat any team in the world if only they don't go back and defend a minimal lead like a bunch of pansies.
If offense is the best defence, does it mean that defence is the worst defence?

But the USA has got experience with such situation in a WorldCup.
And i bet 200 PCM$ that the USA makes at least one goal which is denied without any reason
