If you don't have anything good to say, then dont say nothing at all. Respect Ian for once Daggen
Goat/Mountain Goat=Stijn's nickname after he took the KOM jersey in Ruta del Sol .
I would never do anything disrespectful and mean it toward anyone.

I will really do my best to finally race Gent - Wevelgem today, but I failed to finish my task yesterday so I still have a lot of work left today Real sorry about this, busy days...
EDIT: you know what, screw it, I'll do the race now. I'll probably get in trouble later today but then I'll just have to work a bit faster than usual.

Gent - Wevelgem 2014
Gent - Wevelgem, always an exciting race! We're back in familiar terrain with the Flemish Ardennes, where I grew up in!
Last year, we saw an unbeatable Boonen, and I stranded right outside the podium. This year I hope to achieve more!
Today we deliberately didn't send anyone with the breakaway. We would need all man to work here. Together with Cancellara and Sagan, I'm the favorite here. However, it's quite funny to see one of the largest riders in the peloton ride with one of the smallest.
As expected of us, we took control of the race. We had a battle plan all ready!
Gent - Wevelgem is prone to end on a sprint finish. While Degenkolb is here, we would try everything to avoid a mass sprint, because of Cavendish' quality here.
Most of the team emptied themselves well before the finish, making for a very tough race with a fast pace.
And then, when the team was almost completely emptied, I was launched brilliantly by Ghyselinck!
Luckily, there was the reaction I hoped for. Many riders tried breakaway away also, leaving a disfigured peloton unable to organize a decent chase.
Gilbert, Cancellara and Vanmarcke joined me.
Unfortunately, some fast men were also coming. Sagan, Haussler, Boasson Hagen...
We couldn't keep them off and in the final straight line, Cancellara was leading the pack. Sagan tucked away in his wheel and I in his.
Having spend too much energy in the chase, Sagan didn't impress, I flew straight past him. But everyone was giving 100%!
Haussler was incredibly strong, but I managed to gain a few feet on him. Could I keep that advantage to the line?
I did it! Unbelievable, after E3, I win my second classic of the year, Gent - Wevelgem!
Amazing. Our battle plan worked perfectly, thanks to everyone on the team! This victory is entirely for the team!

There was an interview but it's not on the website yet, so I can't give that to you. Now it's looking forward to the Ronde. Many think of me as the biggest favorite for the Ronde, but I don't think so. It's a lot longer and a bit tougher than those past two races, and Cancellara is in excellent shape. Anyway, we'll see. I'll see you later!

Another great win for Stijn! He's really developing great, maybe almost more in sprinting than cobbling)
(Now it's only a matter of time until TMM comes with his usual 85's comment )
Can't wait till the Ronde. Good luck with finishing your task

Jesleyh - Thanks a lot! He's turning into a monster indeed He's definitely one of the big guys now.
Ironically, I've never had a rider with a stat 85 in my stories. Well, except Roberto Velásquez
EDIT: Though if I keep this story up for another (maybe two) season(s), Stijn might make 85 in his first stat

Stijn is becoming a rider that uses his brain, not attacking in blind rage! So great win.
It's time to increase the difficulty level from easy to extreme

Ollfardh - I think he heard you
dienblad - He's certainly racing with more experience and wisdom. Just when I'm so glad and proud I won those races on hard (not easy ), I should move up to extreme? Well, maybe you're right. Though his form is amazingly good and Boonen is absent, I wouldn't want him winning too much too soon, so I might switch to extreme for a while (unless I really, really suck on extreme).
Miguel98 - Thank you!
sutty68 - I think that jersey changed his whole career, and it's amazing winning E3 and G-W in that tricolor jersey!
Jakstar22 - Thanks!
Trying to keep you updated as much as possible, so about the Ronde, not sure when I'll race it yet. Say it's about 30% tonight - 65% tomorrow - 5% later. |

Confusing photos. Cancellara should be Radioshack but is BMC, Ballan should be BMC but is Astana and Haussler = Astana, Boassan Hagan = Radioshack
Anyway, good win congrats! |
