Stage 7
Today is the final mountain stage and there are 3 large climbs during the stage. There are no flat sections today, only climbing and descending. There were no attacks because a lot of different teams were up front relaying in the peloton. Surprisingly, because my results have been so good recently, someone actually wrote my name on the road.
At the top of the 2nd climb, Contador and Cunego got away, seemingly to pick up KOM points, but they stayed in front and relayed. They picked up a gap of about 1 minute on the peloton.
At the final climb the favorites began attacking. I followed closely behind, trying to stay with the leaders.
Eventually, I caught up to the group chasing Contador and Cunego. The group had Evans and all the other favorites in it.
With a kilometer to go, Cunego had been dropped and Leipheimer had caught up to Contador, but for some reason they weren’t working together. Evans was right behind them so this wasn’t the time for pettiness.
At the finish Contador took the win from Leipheimer and Evans came in 3rd.
I finished in a great position in 7th place. At the finish I was beaten by Ardilla for 6th place. Unfortunately I’m still 11 seconds behind Fuglsang for the U25 leader’s jersey.

Stage 8
Today is the final stage of the Critérium du Dauphiné Libéré. I hope to pick up some time on Fuglsang so I can take the lead in the Young Rider Classification. A breakaway group of 7 got away early in the stage.
Despite the breakaway group still holding a 3 minute lead at the bottom of climb, the favorites still attacked and one of the first to go was Ardilla.
When the other favorites began to attack, I followed trying to keep up with them.
Unfortunately for Ardilla, he lost control of his bike and fell to the ground, losing a lot of time to the leaders.
I wasn’t able to keep up and was in a chasing group behind a lot of the leaders. One rider who was over a minute behind me was Fulsang. One of the surviving breakaway riders, Siutsou, won the stage.
I finished in 24th, but finished high enough to move into 1st in the Yound Rider Classification.

I defended my Irish RR Jersey and will be wearing it during the Tour de France. On other news, we have signed 2 young riders from Australia. One is a sprinter who was #1 in the U23 World Rankings. The other is a rider who specializes in time trialing.

Top 10 in the GC and 1st in the Young Rider Classification. A really really great Dauphiné for Dan Martin. Good to know that also Martin could defend the Irish RR Jersey.

We made some big signings on the day before the Tour de France. Thomas Dekker agreed to a contract. Also (DEADPOOL) Dominique Rollin and Chris Froome signed with us. We also renewed the contract of Ryder Hesjedal.
