Today;s stage was a bit like the 1st one, some hills but in the end perfect for a sprint. Today Stundzia was the Nippo representative in the break which featured 6 riders. They stayed up front for a long time but no matter how hard Stundzia drove in the last kms they were still caught with 4 kms to go. CSC set up their train again with Bak leading out Pedersen and the Dane was by far the strongest again
Left: The break of the day, Right: Pedersen wins his 2nd stage as the U25 leader

23 Simon Gerrans AG2R PRÉVOYANCE s.t.
24 Ricardo Giraldo BARLOWORLD s.t.
25 Fabio Sacchi TEAM MILRAM s.t.
The toughest stage of this tour, would Jurco defend his big lead or will a favourite take enough on the hill to claim the overall win. The first threat came from a breakaway which featured Danculovic and Kolobnev. But Milram controlled the pace and made sure they were caught on the climb
Bichot, who has attacked for the 3rd time leads the break during it's last kms up front, he, Danculovic and Kolobnev were the last ones to be caught
On the climb all the favourites attacked including Efimkin, however he wasnt up front and had to use some energy to get to the front. By the time Efimkin attacked Pineau already had a nice lead going onto the flat part. 1 Minute later Gadret passed the top with Pluchkin and Aerts right behind him. Efimkin passed the climb as 5th with ex-rabo rider Van de Velde, now riding in Australia, in his wheel. Even though Van de Velde and Efimkin reached Aerts and Pluchkin no one reached Pineau as he takes the win
Pineau wins in Willunga, and takes over the lead from Jurco by 4 seconds!
Result:
1. Jérôme Pineau BOUYGUES TELECOM 3h30'49
2. John Gadret AG2R PRÉVOYANCE + 1'16
3. Aleksandr Pluchkin SAVINGS & LOANS CYCLING TEAM + 1'46

GC with 1 Stage to go:
1 Jérôme Pineau BOUYGUES TELECOM 14h32'23
2 Matej Jurco TEAM MILRAM + 4
3 John Gadret AG2R PRÉVOYANCE + 1'24

7 Aleksandr Efimkin NIPPO CORPORATION - MEITAN HOMPO CO. LTD - ASADA s.t.
8 Sébastien Hinault CRÉDIT AGRICOLE + 2'39
9 Jonas Ljungblad UNIBET.COM + 2'45
10 Martin Pedersen TEAM CSC + 3'02
The last stage however will turn some things around in the gc, 2 guys inside the top 10 will fall and lose time. Efimkin will move up atleast 1 spot, but will he move up because of someone else his fall or will he simply move up because he reaches the finish earlier than Van der Velder and/or Aerts...?
So Addy...predict which 2 will fall and how will Efimkin move up atleast 1 spot (so it can be more)

My Prediction
Hinault and Pederson fall
Efimkin moves up because he finishes earlier than Van der Velde
---
i was toying with the idea of Gadret and Ljunblad falling and Efimkin moving up 1 place because of Gadret, but i think my prediction is good
btw what happened to i'll just finish the season before i go to Greece

damn
My REAL prediction
Pluchkin will fall and lose time, going behind Efimkin
Pineau falls but loses under 2'06", thus being ahead of Efimkin
Efimkin will move up 1 place because Pluchkin has dropped behind him

Well you got 1 thing 50% procent right, so in total you would have 1/6 correct
That stage doesnt look difficult right? Well when a break took off in the early noon no one would have expected that this stage would be a historical stage in the history of the Tour Down Under. The break featured 9 riders and looked strong. For Nippo the Russian attacked Mironov was in it and they had a nice lead but the Bouygues started chasing. They had a gap which could just be enough but then it suddenly increases to 6 mins with 50 kms to go? Why? Well this is why!
Left: The break of 9 crossing the finish for the 4th time, Right: PINEAU, THE LEADER, FALLS TOGETHER WITH 2 OTHERS!
And so all the Bouygues boys fall back to help their fallen leader, but then I smell my chance. Mironov is up front but nevertheless we increase the pace so that Pineau, who seemed injured, even got dropped by his teammates and so Jurco, the Slovakian who took the jersey on stage 2 and almost defended it yesterday, can suddenly win the Tour Down Under as Efimkin moves up to 6 --8) Up front the break increases the pace aswell and even though the pack got close they made it. Mironov was stuck when the sprint began and even though the Colombian rider Giraldo from Barloworld was the best sprinter it was Bichot who won after he had attacked for the 4th time! And so the 4th time Bichot succeeds but what happens in the pack??! In the back someone falls...200 metres before the finish!
Left: Bichot wins in front of Giraldo and Mironov, Right: Loubet makes his leader Gadret fall with the finish in sight??!?!
gadret is hurt, and would lose 3 mins because he was lying on the tarmac because of his pain...The French occupied the top 2 before the rave, but after the race there is nothing but dissapointment left inside Pineau and Gadret. However, for Jurco and others it's their lucky day. Efimkin cant finish in front of the sprinter Van Der Velde but he does finish in front of Aerts and ends as 4th!

and so we're back, however, the manager doesnt want to ride with the same guys as he is with in his other team (Sparta Praha)
and so the following riders will have their contracts broken on 1/4 ( )
Grega Bole
Aleksei Saramotins
Tomislav Danculovic
Aleksandr Serebriakov
Branislav Samoilev
also our French talent, Gnanhouan could be getting replaced by a Japanese talent on that same date but thats not certain yet
off to Spain then since Daniele wants to race there...
The 1st stage is immediatly a rather tough one, Claeys is our leader here with Ignatiev and Siutsou being his main helpers, after lots of chasing a group of around 40 men arrives in La Zubia with Stundzia, Siutsou, Ignatiev and Claeys being the 4 Nippo's in the group. Ignatiev and Siutsou are among the first 10 to cross the finish but neither of them wins, its a close finish between Ferrio, Valverde and Burghardt
Will the Spanish judges award to win to a fellow Spaniard?
Result:
01. Marcus Burghardt T-MOBILE TEAM 4h14'39
02. Alejandro Valverde CAISSE D'EPARGNE s.t.

The 2nd stage of this tour and the profile is similar to the one of the first stage however the last km's are a bit tougher this time. A break is formed later on in the race, Camano, Pinotti and the Italian champion Figueras lead until the final KOM point, everyone stays in the group then until the final climb where several favs attack including Claeys and in the end a group of 11 is up front with Claeys just reaching them. In the sprint Claeys isnt among the contenders to win and he ends 8th, the win does go to Spain this time as Carlos Castano surprisingly beats guys such as Mancebo, Valverde and yesterday;s winner, Burghardt.
Left: Figueras leads the early break, Right: Castano wins as Burghardt protects his lead succesfully

here we are again...
Stage 3/5
The 3rd stage and yet again it was a tough one, Caisse and T-Mobile controlled the race but on the 2nd to last hill the favourites and the strongest riders attack, Claeys and Sioutsou are both struggling and so they can't follow these 7 riders who now have a 1 minute advantage over the hill. The group gets shrunk down to 5 after both Rujano and Valjavec had to let go. And then its the battle of the Spaniards, and the Dutchman. Posthuma stands no chance and its a close sprint between Valverde, Castano, Mayo and Mancebo which Valverde in the end wins
Left: These 7 would determine the outcome, Right: Valverde (who burned his face) wins!
Result:
01. Alejandro Valverde CAISSE D'EPARGNE 4h16'00
