That would be a big surprise, if Haussler pulled something off, but he has looked very strong this year |

Pozzato won the first stage of the KBC Driedaagse van De Panne-Koksijde by beating Frederik Willems in the sprint.
About a minute later Van Avermaet won the sprint for third place.
So Pozzato shows the others once again that he is ready for the upcoming classics. He'll be a rider to reckon with. |

And still, they managed to drop the entire Quickstep team 70 km from the finish.
Pozzato looked very good in the last circuit though, especially on the climbs. |

Top ten of the first stage:
1. Filippo Pozzato (KAT)
2. Frederik Willems (LIQ) s.t.
3. Greg Van Avermaet (SIL) +57"
4. Borut Bozic (VAC) s.t.
5. Grega Bole (AMI)
6. Martijn Maaskant (GRM)
7. Assan Bazayev (AST)
8. Vincent Jérôme (BBO)
9. Marco Finetto (CSF)
10. Steve Chainel (BBO)
And this time it was Quickstep who were nowhere to be seen. Boonen and Van Impe were the best riders, both in a group more than 7 min after Pozzato. |

This is surprise that Quick step was that way behind ( I was expecting them dominating the cobble season after Cancellara injury)..after looking top 10 ..strange list...and was thinking what a hell..booring day for Pippo just Maaskant and Avermaet to beat.. |

Yep, he'll be interesting in Ronde van Vlaanderen. Seems like he's peaking just in time. |

Of course it'll still be very hard for him to win, since Katusha doesn't really have a team that can control a cobbled race, especially now Steegmans is injured. |

Come on Rast what a legend and you dont need a team to win as boonens team is going to have all the pressure to do the work all pozzato has to do is sit and wait to attack and maaskant etc will follow |

Maaskant is getting into really good shape. I had a talk with him today and he was real happy with his form at the moment, saying he can still get a few % extra.
But, I don't think he is of the level of Pozzato/Boonen etc. He is good enough for Paris-Roubaix though, not for the win, but a podium contender, certainly now Cancellara is shit and Ballan is not participating. |
