APRIL REPORT
This month was the first real challenge for the team. In the first half of the month our performance showed the two sides of the same coin. Vicioso was at his best in the Basque Country while O´Grady was terrible in the Cobble Classics (maybe due to the team’s quality in that field). The Spanish pleased the sponsors wining the 2nd most important race in the calendar and brought some PT points as well as cash! In the second half of April Di Luca assumed his leadership in the Ardennes but he didn’t achieve any impressive results in the first two races (7th and 10th exactly the same positions Vicioso got last year). It was turning out to be a poor performance by him in Belgium and Holland… until LBL! He was quoted as the favourite and he got the 2nd place which was a surprise comparing to his latest results and in another race spotted by the sponsors which made the result even better!
Di Luca’s and mostly Vicoso’s results improved our classification significantly in PT rankings
And here are the best results of the team in April:
GP Miguel Indurain – João Cabreira 3rd
Ronde van Vlaanderen – Stuart O’Grady 12th
Gent – Wevelgem – Stuart O’Grady 19th
Vuelta al PaÃs Vasco – Angel Vicioso 1st
Paris –Roubaix – Stuart O’Grady 16th
Klasika Primavera Amorebieta – Danilo Di Luca 2nd
Volta ao Alentejo – Bruno Pires 6th
Amstel Gold Race – Danilo Di Luca 7th
Tro Bro-Léon – Stuart O’Grady 1st
La Flèche Wallonne – Danilo Di Luca 10th
Vuelta a la Rioja – Claudio Faria 9th
Liége – Bastogne – Liége – Danilo Di Luca 2nd

MAY
Now the Calendar turns to Stage Races. A team will be sent to support Di Luca and probably the same squad will compete in the Giro. During the Giro we’ll also be competing in Volta a Catalunya where our goal will be the Top5 so Kloden will be riding there as well as in Vuelta as Asturias and Classica de Alcobendas to start gaining fitness for the Tour. Subida al Naranco will complete our calendar.
Tour de Romandie
A preparation for the Giro. As there are two time trials we’ll bring our best skilled riders at this ability to this race apart of Kloden. I must say it wasn’t easy to bring all the dope equipment to Switzerland since Federer’s country doesn’t make part of UE. Still we were able to fill Di Luca’s blood up with orange juice a new form of doping developed by Eufemiano especially for us. He says that the vitamine C increases the will of the rider to be the first at the finish and so we are testing it! Di Luca named it before the Prologue: GOD – Good Orange Doping. Let’s see if it is that good…
Prologue
Well it seems to be really really good - 4 riders in the top10, it doesn’t happen everyday!!
1 Luis León Sánchez Caisse d'Epargne 5'27
2 Alejandro Valverde Caisse d'Epargne + 9
3 Tiago Machado LA - MSS - Póvoa de VarzÃm + 12
4 Xavi Tondo LA - MSS - Póvoa de VarzÃm s.t.
5 Danilo Di Luca LA - MSS - Póvoa de VarzÃm s.t.
6 José Rujano Caisse d'Epargne + 13
7 Pedro Romero LA - MSS - Póvoa de VarzÃm + 14
8 Matthias Frank Gerolsteiner s.t.
9 Sven Krauss Gerolsteiner s.t.
10 Bradley Wiggins Team Columbia s.t.

Is seems that DiLuca was seen near to Dr. Santucione's house. What is your position as a team manager about that?

Di Luca has an unknown twin brother!! I know this sounds ridiculous but their parents lost him in the jungle and he grew up among wolves and bears just like Mogli!! He came back to civilization a few days ago and as you have said he was found by Santuccione...
So I expect all the rumours to be shut up with this unquestionable explanation!

We have already requested a sample of Danilo's brother but it seems that he has a genetic mutation!!! He has no DNA in his celular nucleus!!!
The scientists are looking in the mitocondrias to get some genetic material but my guess is that they wont find anything... unfortunately for all

What about the fact that Vicioso has reportedly tested positive for Blood Doping and CERA in every race he has ridden? What about the fact that he has been seen with Santuccione too? |

That fact is a little harder to explain...
the experts have developed theories but the most reputated have the opinion that he was not doped:
Theory #1
Developed by Albert Einstein
The fact that he has been seen with Santuccione is relative...
(this is also known as the Theory of Relativity)
Theory #2
Developed by Gregory House, M.D.
His kidneys have a rare disorder that lead them to produce CERA. His nephrons have developed an unknown neoplasy that result in the presence in his urine of the doping agent (CERA). Also his disorder caused an abnormal production of erythropoietin which caused positive test for blood transfusions.
Theory #3
Developed by Mr. Tupperware
The borders of the cups where Vicioso landed his urine caused a reaction that contaminated the sample. Therefor the doping results were false.
Theory #4
Developed by Homer Simpson
Doh!!

I do in deed Maggot
I think doping is just a nasty factor in cycling the best you can do to avoid being bothered by it is laugh about it
But I must say yesterday I was blessed by an inspiration kind of Waggy style

2nd Stage
Simoni was the first to attack at the last climb of the day
He was later joined by Capecchi, Gerdemman and Zaugg
They were all caught except Simoni. Then it was Efimkin followed by Bosisio, Dekker and Zaugg again.
At last Valverde abandoned the peloton!
Di Luca went after him carrying Gerdemann and Sastre.
At the top none of the favorites was able to create a gap!
In the final plain section the break of the day still remained along with Simoni now. They had 30’’ on Valverde and Efimkin. 40’’ behind them was Di Luca’s group.
There were many attacks and the final sprint was going to be very disputed. Anyone could win except for Valverde, Popovych and Di Luca who were left behind…
At the finish line it was Serrano who included the inicial breakaway the winner. Great reward for him and Tinkoff!! What a surprise!
Di Luca wasnt in his day his group was some seconds behind… He didnt lose much time but probably enought to get him out of the podium…
Stage
1 Ricardo Serrano Tinkoff Credit Systems 4h48'36
2 Gilberto Simoni Quick•Step s.t.

8 Alejandro Valverde Caisse d'Epargne s.t.
9 Yaroslav Popovych Silence - Lotto s.t.
10 Danilo Di Luca LA - MSS - Póvoa de VarzÃm s.t.
But one more time the judges favour us!! No gap from Serrano to Di Luca! We even got to climb a spot in the GC! It ended as a great day for us!

4th Stage
As happened before the peloton was split in two.
In the first group Piepoli attacked during a minor climb and managed to join the breakaway.
The bunch eventually got together again. When the gradient started rising Capecchi and Dekker atacked.
At the front Piepoli isolated himself when the steepest part of the climb began
Valverde launched the first seriour attack in the pack.
He was followed by Sastre, Gerdemann, Simoni and Di Luca.
In the last 7km they were all in the same group seeking Piepoli.
In the final 5km the yellow jersey was gone once more. Popovych and Sastre tried to grasp his wheel.
With 2 min of advantage Piepoli celebrated an antecipated victory.
Valverde was second but he managed to expand his lead to the other favourites.
Di Luca arrived in 5th after Efimkin but he was able to contain the lost time!

5th Stage
A great day ahead of the riders. They wouldn’t have time to enjoy neither the swiss natural beauty nor the swiss fine engineering.
During the stage we were able to find Atlantis, or were these alucinations caused by GOD??
Valverde was once more full of strenght! As he felt the inclination he jumped on his bike and said goodbye to the pack.
Di Luca and Popovych chase him right after!
The next one to leave the bunch was Dekker
And Sastre
At the top Dekker and Di Luca were losing more than a minute to Valverde and had about 20’’ to Sastre and Popovych.
Dekker made a gap to Di Luca in the descent.
And Valverde won without difficulties! He’s in an amazing shape! Only a catastrophe would make him lose the GC in tomorrow’s TT.
Dekker was 2nd gaining some seconds on our italian. In the end it didn’t result in a bad day. We probably will rise to 2nd in the GC and a Top5 he’s already assured which is great!
Stage
1 Alejandro Valverde Caisse d'Epargne 6h15'02
2 Thomas Dekker Rabobank + 1'31
3 Danilo Di Luca LA - MSS - Póvoa de VarzÃm + 1'56
4 Yaroslav Popovych Silence - Lotto + 2'22
5 Carlos Sastre Team CSC Saxo Bank s.t.
6 Gilberto Simoni Quick•Step + 3'19
7 Linus Gerdemann Team Columbia + 3'53
8 John Gadret AG2R La Mondiale + 4'05
9 Eros Capecchi Scott - American Beef s.t.
10 Luis León Sánchez Caisse d'Epargne s.t.
GC
1 Alejandro Valverde Caisse d'Epargne 18h58'06
2 Danilo Di Luca LA - MSS - Póvoa de VarzÃm + 3'19
3 Yaroslav Popovych Silence - Lotto + 3'32
4 Carlos Sastre Team CSC Saxo Bank + 3'50
5 Thomas Dekker Rabobank + 4'18
6 Vladimir Efimkin AG2R La Mondiale + 5'29
7 Gilberto Simoni Quick•Step + 6'07
8 Leonardo Piepoli Team CSC Saxo Bank + 7'08
9 Luis León Sánchez Caisse d'Epargne + 8'36
