as i believe isso has previously mentioned, cocaine has been widely used as a performance enhancing drug in the past. How does this not benefit boonen?

yes but why does that apply for Boonen and not for Schumacher? he got caught drunk driving and tested positive for amfetamines, yet he is allowed to participate without question
I don't know actually. It is likely that he is not punished because his case is not in the media right now and because he is not a major contender in the Tour. It's unfair, but that is how the world works.

And as I believe, several people have also pointed out, that:
1. The performance enhancing effects of cocaine are minimal compared to the likes of EPO, blood doping and testosterone.
2. The effect of cocaine wears of within a day or two, so Boonen would not have benefitted from the coke. If anything he would have been chrashing on the first stages,
3. Cocaine is not on WADA's "out of competition" list, which means that it is not illegal to use it up until three days before a race. |

Quick Step has persuaded Lefevré to try to get Boonen to the TdF. This has now resulted in a meeting between ASO, Lefevré and Quick Step which will take place next week. |

Great. Boonen is now blaiming other people for this. He says that someone put it in his coffee, meaning that he didn't intend to do cocaine.
You are stupid, Boonen.
In other news related to this, they have just had a meeting with ASO, and they will reconsider the ban of Boonen for the Tour de France. |

yeah boot him out. I like Boonen as much as the next guy. But drugs is serious and we don't want a drug taker in the events. Keep him out.

Not that I am saying that I believe it But as a response to Cruetrue
Lefevre & Boonen himself dont talk about it but in a program on Belgium television there where 3 guests 2 professors and one journalist.
The journalist is investigating the story and came out with an other story ( Lefevre & Boonen didnt wnat to react to that story ) but it was this:
He was getting an award somewhere when the antidopingagency was at his door. They called him up and he said he would come home, they answered with its not necessary just see that you can proof you are there and we will come back within a week ( what is standard procedure )
2 days later Boonen went with his gf to a café and got ill
day later the doping agency is there and he pissed out cocaine.
One of the proffessors answered with yes if you take cocaine in your drink you will get sick.
This story wasnt confirmed by Boonen or Lefevre but was confirmed by the antidopingagency, and the journalist also claims that this was the story that Boonen told the police.
So, ooor Boonen is just a dumb addict who believes he is soo good that he can get away with it. Or its smells fishy.
Not believing the journalist was my first opinion, but after the word getting out that the antidoping agency conformired that story i have my doubt. |

If ASO lets Boonen ride they will be the epitome of hypocritical...Not letting Astana participate, because of past transgressions, but reversing their decision on Boonen would show that the decision is based on bias and not what is best for the sport. |

but surely if the Word Anti-doping agency did get coke out of him, why hasn't he been charged (legally). The belgian authoritys say there was no evidence of him ever taking the drugs.
Ok, this story is very confusing. So many different stories.

wtf if someone did put coke in his drink, what has happend to the world??? like Boonen wouldn't notice someone putting cocaine in his drink . If you order a drink at the bar you see them take the drink or bottle or whatever, im pretty sure David Copperfield wasn't at the place Boonen ordered the drink so he should have noticed if they did put it in and afterworths i don't think anyone would slip up to his glass or bottle and dump some coke in it.
Even if he didn't, if you take a nip from a coke , Soda, water, beer, whatever ... and cocaine has been put into it, im pretty sure you'l notice immeadiatly (Coke has a very bitter taste).
Boonen did know he was using coke. He just ain't man enough to admit.
anyway thats my opinion. Besides that Go Belgium B)
@ doddy didn't they catch him with drugs on him, or find any at his house, parents house ... that makes things a bit harder for the Belgian law system. But he probably still will be charged for drug use. Althought there is a chance with him getting of with nothng. ... Afterall his popular in Belgium and they only have doping agency testing him. ... if he wasn't a pro sporter he wouldn't have been caught.

You think that's bad? the LA-MSS story is far worse. first the police said they found EPO, blood transfusion equipment, etc. then it turned out it was all a lie and they found nothing. Now half the newspapers say one thing, the other hand say the other.
I'm confused. This smells quite a bit like the Puerto case, where so many footballers and Tennis players were found, then all of a sudden, all the big spanish cycling names plus all footballers and tennis players were gone.

There was one missing thingy in my thread because i didnt know the english word for it, so if a belgium guy could help me out het was op een terraske dus daar ziede ni hoe u drinken wordt ingeschonken
Oh and if I heard correctly you can only be charged with possesion of drugs and taking drugs is weirdly not against the law as long that you dont have any drugs on you and at home.
And what you said about if he wasnt a prosporter... If you get caught on cocaine they dont do a house search immediatly, you just have to pee in a cup for a period so that the cops would see that you stopped. |

He could never prove it, so how does it turn out to be true? If I remember correctly, Simoni was thrown out of the Giro and suspended for some months |

No one knows. but there's about a 0.000001% chance it's true. It also wasn't Simoni's first excuse. He first went with a dentist excuse, until he realised no one was buying it.

Well, I hope the tour takes a strict line with Boonen.
