I think you'll be a bit dissapointed with his stats, remember the most races he has been in hasn't been star-studded exactly. But I'll show you the stats once I'll report from the off-season.
Tour de Pologne – Stage 2
My report of this stage will be very brief and incomplete but that’s mostly because the Polish cameras broke down in the finale so I don’t have very many picture and also they never published the result of the stage for some reason so I’m kind of in the dark regarding my position in the GC.
Anyway, here what I’ve got. A break went away. It got caught. We had Peter Riis Andersen in it.
In the finale with some 30 km to go just when the break got caught we were again hit by cross-winds. First time around we made the cut.
But the pack broke up even further and we didn’t get on the winning end on it. So at the end of the day we managed to lose some stupid time and I’m not sure as I haven’t seen the GC yet, but I think our GC chances have dissapered.
René Mandri of AG2R took the win by the way. I hope the cameras start working tomorrow.
As the game crashged while I was taking screenshots I couldn’t export results either. Sorry bout that.

Don't worry Guido, in fact I am watching the Giro. That report has been done for quite a while now, so I though I would post it
Also all the other Tour de Pologne stages have been done for about 5 days, so they will also be posted today.
So I'm well able to watch the Giro and there's no way I'd miss it

Tour de Pologne – Stage 3
I was a bit dissapointed with yesterday’s outcome but as I finally checked up on the results today I found out that I was actually sitting quite high in the GC, in 22nd in fact. I did put in an attack yesterday and apparently that meant the pack would finish in the same time as me, so a top 20 spot is definitely not out of the picture for me in this race, but so far our captain is still Riber-Sellebjerg.
Today’s break.
Three riders gave the pack a run for their money as they refused to be reeled before within the final 10 kilometres.
I wasn’t really well place for the sprint as yesterday’s winner Mandri bursted into the lead.
But the Estonian was quickly passed by Drujon and Haselbacher.
And while Drujon turned out strongest and claimed the win I found some strenght on the run-in as I managed to work myself up to a very decent 4th place. So I’m quite pleased with this.

Tour de Pologne – Stage 4
I tasted blood yesterday for the first time in a ProTour race in my career and I was very eager to hit the road this morning. I’ve been talking to a few riders from Quickstep and High Road where they asked me if I was going to stay on the Continental Tour next season, which I’m not sure of still, but I couldn’t resist the thought of these implying their teams’ interest in me and I think this though distracted me on the course today.
Michael Mørkøv was in the break for us today but they were caught before the finale.
As I told I was distracted today and I didn’t manage to get myself in a decent position for the sprint.
Up front Pliuschin provided René Mandri with a fantastic lead-out.
And there was no way Mandri wouldn’t win it.
Tomorrow is the final total flat stage of the tour and I’ll hope to a lot better there and I need to keep my mind on the road from now on and not thinking about ProTour contracts until the off-season.

Tour de Pologne – Stage 5
I feel more focused today as I have stayed clear of any future discussions with ProTour riders. Instead me and the team took a long workout this morning to adjust our pace for this race even more.
Roy Hegreberg participated in the breakaway to show off our colours.
I managed to position myself quite well in the build-up but AG2R seems unbeatable as the Pliuschin-Mandri tandem seemed the strongest again.
Mandri came strong out of Pliuschin’s wheel but could Bodnar of Liquigas get past him.
No way, Mandri takes his 3rd win of the Tour, while I salvaged another 4th place behind Drujon and Bodnar.
Tomorrow’s stage is very hilly and eventhough that’s ideal for me I’ll probably be riding for Riber-Sellebjerg as he is in awesome form right now.

Tour de Pologne – Stage 6
Looking at the profile this is definitely the defining stage of this tour and eventhough I will be filling the helpers role today for Riber-Sellebjerg I think I can managed to stay inside the top 20 which would be a great result for me considering the form I’m in right now. It’s not bad but it’s not very good either.
We felt Thomas could do very well today so we decided not to go with the early move to focus on Thomas in the pack.
The breakaway riders, led by Anders Lund, were reeled in on the last but final climb.
I struggled up this climb while Thomas was still well-placed up front.
I made it over with an exclusive group of favourites but a few riders managed to get away due to a move from the rider of this tour, René Mandri.
Chris Anker Sørensen and Sylvain Chavanel tried to come across but only the latter made it.
With 7 kilometres the lead over the favorites group was 40 seconds for the front duo.
Mandri and Chavanel was the strongest and since Chavanel also lost some time on the second stage Mandri will consolidate his lead today whether he wins or not. I struggled up the final ascend and I blew up about 1,5 kilometres from the finish.
Up front Mandri started the sprint and he looked set to take his 4th win of the tour.
But Chavanel was poised and in the end he threw his bike over the line a few centimetres ahead of Mandri to take the win.
I managed to keep the pack behind me as I will move to 16th in the GC, which I’m very happy with. Also Thomas did very well finishing 5th today as he will move to 13th in the GC.
Tomorrow’s stage is also quite hilly but it has a flat rating so if a break doesn’t make I will try to be up there in the sprint again.

Tour de Pologne – Stage 7
Despite of the many hills towards the finish this stage has been rated flat by the organizers and given the fact I’m strong on hills and in sprints I could do very well here if everything works in my favour.
Already with 45 kilometres left of the race, the TV break had been reeled in.
This was just before the hills started and Astana turned out to be the pacesetters, while we sticked close to the front to keep Thomas out of any trouble.
Paulinho went flat out up the final hill to inflict some pain on the heavy sprinters, I, on the other hand, wasn’t struggling.
I caught the perfect wheel in the sprint as Pliuschin this time were leading out Poulhies.
Why it was Poulhis and not Mandri I will never know but Poulhies wasn’t very strong so I decided to try and go for it all on the outside. Lefevre thought the same thing as he raced past me.
He bursted into a commanding lead.
And he wasn’t going to get caught as he took the win and I managed regain some strenght and get into Lefevre’s lane to slam home a nice 2nd place to finish off my final race for GLS this season and maybe indefinitely. Who knows? Next up for me is the World RR Championships in Varese which will be my final race of the season. The team participates in another three one-day races following but I’ve decided to call it quits for 2008 as I’m starting to feel very old.

2008 World Championships in Varese
Individual Time Trial
Well I wasn’t very surprised or insulted that I wasn’t selected for the ITT team despite of my “amazing” performance in the TT in Post Danmark Rundt. Denmark lined up with two CSC riders, Matti Breschel and Lars Ytting Bak and one of my GLS teammates, Brian Vandborg. Brian wasn’t in very good form so he wouldn’t do very well, but Matti Breschel must be in absolute peak condition as he stormed home to grab Denmark a bronze medal! Lars Bak did okay finishing 28th, while Brian was 34th. Stijn Devolder took Gold ahead of Thomas Dekker as the reigning champion Cancellara didn’t even start for Switzerland.

Road Race
Today’s later it was time for the road race which I’ve been looking forward to since I was selected to ride for Denmark here. But my form is pretty poor and I think we’ll be riding for Matti Breschel or Nicki Sørensen. The other riders for Denmark is Lars Ytting Bak, Jacob Moe Rasmussen, Michael Blaudzun and Niki Østergaard.
It was quickly clear that Nicki Sørensen is the strongest on the team, so we sent off Matti who started a break of 13 riders alongside Gustov (UKR), Hushovd (NOR), Valjavec (SLV), Wesemann (SWI), Duma (UKR), Kiendys (POL), Wegelius (GBR), Klöden (GER), Stalder (SWI), Lowe (USA), Leipheimer (USA) and Van Avermaet (BEL).
Meanwhile my job was to protect Nicki who was sitting comfortably in the pack.
With 40 kilometres to with just over 2 laps remaining the break was caught and the breakaways were immediately started as Karsten Kroon attacked.
Soon Oscar Freire turned out stronger as he lead a bunch of favorites right past Kroon.
Freire, Popovych and Ballan turned out strongest as they made up the front trio after the attacks had settled again.
Last year’s U23 World RR Champion Peter Velits were chasing the front 3 alongside Fränk Schleck.
Entering the last lap Freire, Popovych and Ballan had a 40 seconds advantage over Schleck and Velits, while Vanendert tried to come across to this duo.
Meanwhile I had met my limit this season as I was way behind the pack.
Shortly after entering the last lap Popovych was dropped by Freire and Ballan.
And riding up the climb for the last time Ballan managed to get rid off Freire.
The Italian was strong and soon he had a commanding lead with Freire trailing him, while Peter Velits had left Schleck in the pursuit of Popovych and a bronze medal.
Ballan took the Rainbow colours after a fantastic performance on home soil. I bet he’s rather pleased.
Freire took silver after a fantastic ride.
Velits crossed the line as he had left Popovych, Schleck and Vanendert in his wake to claim his second consecutive medal.
I had an awful ride and I’m happy my season is over now as I finished 110th, 17 minutes after Ballan. Nicki Sørensen took 22nd.

Despite the worlds result, its still a great season for JAJ.
I wonder why Slovakian Peter Velits was riding for Slovenia though.

2008 Season Round-Up
2008 went incredibly well for me. I took 9 victories in just over 60 race days and no doubt the highlights of this season has definitely been winning Post Danmark Rundt and being selected to ride at the World Championships. The goal for me this year was to catch the eyes of the ProTour teams. I think I’ve achieved that as I’ve heard some stuff from my ProTour colleagues after some good performances I put in in Brixia Tour, Giro del Lazio, Tre Valli Varesine and Tour de Pologne. Now I just have to wait and hope somebody will contact me because I have made up my mind, I don’t want to ride with GLS next year unless I don’t get any offers from better teams. Let’s see how it will work out. I’ll know a lot more after the next two months.
Also I caught this piece of new after the season ended on October 15:
Next year’s World Championships will be raced in Denmark! From the second I saw that announcement I knew I wanted to lineup in Copenhagen for that race next year. If possible I want to plan my entire season around that particular race to do as well as possible. I’m really looking forward already eventhough it’s still a year away.
The final standings for the ProTour and Continental Tour has also just come in and here’s how the CT Individual Standings ended up looking like:
I’m in 17th! I was ecstatic as I caught up with that. Almost a thousand riders have scored CT points this year and to be number 17 is just amazing for me. Also because I beat Uros Murn.
Team GLS had a decent season ending in 19th in the Team Standings.
Allesandro Ballan won the ProTour Individual Standings.
While Team CSC yet again claimed the Teams Standings.
This all mean that Milram and Euskaltel will be relegated to the Continental Tour while Slipstream and LPR will be promoted to ProTour status.
Here’s another piece of statistic that makes me look very good.
I’m the 12th highest ranked riders in terms of wins over the course of the 2008 Season of all road racers in the world. Now that’s something to be proud of.
With all these numbers I have managed to score throughout the season I feel confident that I will recieve an offer I can’t refuse during the next couple of months.
