4 Jours de Dunkerque - Stage 3
This race might get overshadowed a bit by the Giro, but we are still in position to get a good result. Today's stage is relatively flat so perhaps we can take home another sprint win.
Our guys weren't on their A game though. We waited a bit too long to begin pulling back the break and nobody was helping us with the chase. David Kopp was in the break and surged away as the finish line neared... and we couldn't get him back. A nice solo win for Kopp.

Giro d'Italia - Stage 2
This slightly bumpy stage sets up well for Boassen Hagen. He's really been progressing as a sprinter this season and can handle hills better than most fast men.
There was a lot of action early on, and we kept trying to get riders into the break so we wouldn't be required to lead the chase. Eventually we got Marcus Burghardt into the break (sporting the snazzy young rider jersey). He would simply sit at the back of the break and move to the front to take mountain points.
And for the most part, the pelaton didn't really chase. It wasn't until very late in the stage they took up the effort. We didn't put forth any effort.
Burghardt was fresh from sitting at the rear of the group... and in the final 15km he left the break for a solo ride.
And he easily stayed ahead for a breakaway victory!
Renaud Dion of AG2R won the sprint of the remaining riders in the break for second, Sébastien Minard of Cofidis took 3rd.
Boassen Hagen won the sprint from the pelaton. Looks like we would have won either way.
So the Giro has been rolling along quite well for High Road so far. Two stages... two stage wins... and we're ahead or tied for every classification. Now if only this can continue through the mountains.

4 Jours de Dunkerque - Stage 4
A flat stage with two very short cobbled streches. Can Hammond and company find a way to use this to our advantage?
Well we decided to try. On the first section our cobbled riders went up front and put forth a strong effort. The pelaton was a little stretched.
And we kept relaying... after the second section, we had created a gap.
But we had over 100km to go... and our team was going to have to do the bulk of the work. Could we keep away? Well the pelaton did gain... but very very slowly. With 12km to go we still had a short lead in the break. Hammond and Klier were still pretty fresh, so they attacked.
And they stayed away! Only Bodrogi from Credit Agricole was able to go with them. When the sprint began things closed up with the pelaton, but Hammond won the stage, with Klier earning 3rd place. We didn't get a time gap, but still a wonderful result.

Giro d'Italia - Stage 3
An obvious sprinter stage. Greipel and Boassen Hagen will be our guys today.
Pinotti did a lot of work at the front today, pulling the break back. He wasn't able to keep with the pack when the pace increased. Interestingly enough, Menchov fell back from the pace too losing the same 3'33" as Pinotti. It appears Gesink must be Rabobank's man in this year's race as nobody came back to help the struggling rider.
As the sprint began, Boassen Hagen was positioned well behind Greipel.
But Pettachi came up strong. As he started past, Edvald came out and began his sprint. Pettachi had almost a bike length... could Edvald overcome the gap?
EDVALD ON THE LINE! A brilliant sprint by the young talent!
That's 3 for 3 folks. High Road is dominating this race.

Giro d'Italia - Stage 4
With a fairly large climb but a flat finish, this stage is one for the sprinters... but they'll have to make it over the climb first.
We had a three pronged strategy for the day. First we wanted to get Pinotti into the break. With his ability to ride on the flat, and the fact he dropped down a bit in the standings after yesterday's stage, we feel like the pelaton will let him go. Hopefully he'll be our mountain man the rest of the Giro. Second, we wanted to bleed off some sprinters on the hill. We wanted to protect Greipel (who's not so good a climber) and Boassen Hagen (who's very good at climbing) and punish the other sprinters to set up our guys for a sprint win. And third... we wanted to keep Burghardt in the Maglia Rosa. Hopefully he'll keep the jersey until the first mountain stage.
It was a fight to get Pinotti out but he took second and first in the two mountain sprints, putting him in the green jersey.
He was swallowed up by the pelaton well before the finish of course. 8km before the finish we tried a late attack with our GC men... partially to see if we could steal some seconds, but mostly to test their legs out a bit. As the sprint started there was really only one train and it was catching our break guys when the sprinters began to take off.
Boassen Hagen was on Greipel's wheel again, following Luca Paolini. Great position with 600m to go.
And Boassen Hagen powers through the finish line. Back to back wins for Edvald and four out of four for High Road in the Giro!
Greipel takes third in the sprint as well. We're having an amazing Giro so far, let's hope it continues when we get to the mountains.

4 Jours de Dunkerque - Stage 6
The final stage of the race, we're just going to try to keep second for Hammond. There are some sprinters close enough they could pass him if they finish top 3.
The stage is flat, so we'll try to set up Ciolek. In the end Ciolek just didn't have the legs in the sprint and Bonnett won the stage.
And unfortunately, the bonus seconds from the win pushed Bonnett ahead of Hammond in the final standings. Still a solid result for Roger with a Podium in the race and a decent team performance.

Giro d'Italia - Stage 5
Because of the late hills in the race, it won't be a day for pure flat-terrain sprinters. Greipel will have some trouble with the finish. It fits Boassen Hagen perfectly though. We may try another late attack like yesterday if our guys are feeling good too... we might be able to pick up a few seconds with the finish as it is.
Pinotti went on the break again today and padded his lead in the climbers competion. He was brought back in as the pack approached the final hills. But as our guys moved up to the front, it wasn't High Road that led the attack... Ricardo Ricco made the first move. We were quick to respond however.
But Richie Rich was not going to be caught today. He simply kept his legs going at a ridiculous pace and even with a powerful sprint Boassen Hagen couldn't pass him. Ricardo Ricco wins the stage, with Edvald coming in a close second.
Our win streak is over... but we're still obvioulsy the team of the Giro so far.

Giro d'Italia - Stage 6
The late hills on the stage give it a similar profile to yesterday's. Maybe we can learn from our mistakes and get back on the winning track.
Bettini went on the break today and Pinotti was quick to latch on his wheel. In fact Pinotti didn't do any work at all... which obviously irritated the Cricket. He only exerted himself to jump past and win the one mountain sprint.
When the second to last of the late hills came up, High Road made a move in force, which contained both the points and GC leaders in it.
Burghardt was just working to get them away however. He quickly fell back to the pack to discourage pursuit and Siutsou, Boassen Hagen, Rogers and Ulissi were left at the front, working their way up the final hill with a half minute lead.
And the group allowd Ulissi to take the win, giving the young Italian a superb Giro win in his first year on the pro-tour!
The group earned a 22 second gap on the rest of the pack, useful seconds for Rogers come later in the race.

Giro d'Italia - Stage 7
Okay... now the real race starts. This is the first stage we've had that's got climbs of any note, and they're scattered throughout the course. We don't expect Burghardt to keep the jersey today... he (and everyone else) will be working to help Rogers. If things work right he'll be wearing the Maglia Rosa on stage 8.
Pinotti needed to get in the break today and get some of the serious mountain points being awarded. He did exactly that, dominating the early mountain sprints.
Pinotti was strong today. He remained at the front untl Ricco went past on the second to last hill
Rogers hadn't gone with Ricco's attack as none of the other favorites went. But when Cunego, Voigt and Cauchiolli went, Rogers and Uliss followed.
Ricco led with Cunego chasing and Rogers and Cauchiolli chasing behind him.
A large chase group formed behind them, with names like Di Luca, Voigt, Rujano, Horner, Popyvych and Piepoli. Ulissi had pushed Rogers on for a while and been dropped back to the Pelaton.
And Ricco cruises across the line with a solid win. He took the initiative and blew the race up. He looks very strong.
Cunego comes in second, and Rogers takes the 3rd podium spot at the line.
Nibali leads the trailing chase group across in 5th, over 3 minutes behind Ricco.
Ricco took over the Maglia Rosa today, but we think Rogers might be able to grab it back in stage 10, the first individual time trial. He's only 22 seconds back.

Anyone can do that all you have to do is attack from around 12km out and you get an advantage either put it on hard or extreme as it is to easy on them levels especially with rogers go on extreme and you will get killed in the mountains and time trials.
Why do a story on easy or medium no point what so ever as everyone can see you are on easy or medium difficulty. No skill involved!

shut up smitho - you have no right to say that - I'm not great on this game and although you may be better than some i'm sure the guys at PPDB would have your guts for garters
if Kurtin cannot play hard or extreme it doesn't matter - i wouldnt want to see rogers hammered in the mountains and tts.

The story's been on hard since the second stage of the Bay City race (first one in January).
The fact is the other teams in the Giro didn't really bring any sprinters. Boassen Hagen and Greipel have been 3 star favorites in just about every stage. As you'll see as the mountains progress, I'm obviously not playing on easy levels.
Other than Petacchi (and possibly Bettini if you consider him a sprinter), there are no top sprinters at the Giro. That's why I'm winning so many stages.
I'm playing with one of the top 3 teams in terms of budget. I've yet to win a pro-tour stage race. I've won ONE pro-tour 1-day race (Gent-Wevelgem). I'm simming all the time trials so I don't get unrealistic results by winning them unrealistically. I'm sorry... you must really think I suck if this is what I'm doing on easy level.
A team like High Road should be winning a lot of HC and below category races. Now the other teams don't peak for lower level races that they would in real life (like Paris-Nice or Tour of California) so I can dominate them. But the pro tour races show that I'm probably playing at the correct skill level.
I can't pick the squads that computer controlled teams put in the game. I can't control what their fitness is. Pettachi is the only good sprinter from another team here and my guys are all mid 90's and above in form. Like Cavendish in the real life Giro... when you only have one real threat in the sprints you're going to win a lot. And to be honest, I don't think Petacchi is in form.
Look, this isn't a continental team. This is a pro tour team with 4 legitimate sprint threats (Greipel, Cavendish, Eisel and Ciolek) with a 5th in Boassen Hagen as his experience goes up. This is a team with 8 cobbled riders above 70, giving Hincappie a ton of support in the cobbled races. This is a team with a bunch of good time trial riders.
I'm winning a lot of sprints, time trials and cobbled races... that's what SHOULD happen if you race with High Road. I'm winning non-pro tour stage races where other riders aren't in form and my guys are... again... nothing I can do about that.
This isn't a developmental story... this is a top pro-tour team looking to finish first in the pro-tour standings. I'm going to win races, even on hard, because this team is GOOD. If that bothers you, perhaps you should read one of the other stories.

smitho - what i was doing was asking the level - not saying he should raise it - but maybe extreme for the sprints
