As far as I remember he let Mate have it. You could imagine the situation that the Cofidis DS told him they wouldn't continue to cooperate if Mate can't get the KoMs gifted in order to keep Lemoine safe in the jersey, but Tommy would be stupid to think this break could've gone all the way anyway.
I was absolutely certain he did today for the 2 points, so I am still puzzled.
It was the Europcar DS's birthday today according to the ITV commentary so it might be something to do with that.

That is why I think he is just trying to ride himself into some form as his year has been quiet thus far since that injury at the TDU, a few hard k's of the front on a flat day like today might be what he needs to get himself into shape to have a go at a few of the hilly stages later in the race.
Oooooooor he could just be Voeckler at his random best

Both from TdF (todays stage, I guess). Both I absolutely support. Both I'd do myself if I were professional cyclist. There HAS to be way to stop these "fans" causing shitload of crashes all the time. Especially on flat, when it's so dangerous.
Anyway unlucky for Peter, but nice that he got back and salvaged good points with 4th place. Kittel is just too awesome for other sprinters, they need new tactics to do something with him, even when yesterday it was pretty close.

I'm pretty sure the second was in England
