Actually Riis' nickname was given by Festina guys because he was much stronger than them, despite their hematocrits being set at 52-53 % (before the 50 % limit was introduced). It wasn't the result of a measurement.
Blood with 63 % hematocrit must look more like jelly than a liquid. |

Dufaux said Festina guys would go to 60 like most teams. Only Riis would (supposedly) go above
Does anybody have BriceƱo's number? I need something to clog the hole in my kitchen ceilling, his blood would be perfect.
Also, Gianni Savio responded to this by saying 'riders from Venezuela are the future of this country's cycling'.
Drop the wine Gianni

Not only the UCI wants to kill cycling by destroying the calendar, now ASO wants to buy RCS's races
I can see it now. Every race relegated to a warmup for the Tour de France.
I feel physically sick at the thought

First, we'll buy RCS.
Next, Flanders Classics.
Finally, we will take over the UCI.
Then, we will rule the world. Muahahah!!
Seriously though I wonder how this will shape the future of the sport.

But how cool will it be if the Giro gets a stage finish on the Tourmalet. It's been massively underutilised so far.

I gotta say, I'm all for Stetinas suggestion for fixed numbers for each rider throughout the season. A combination of a fixed number and/or name on the racing bib would make it easier for people to recognize riders. Unless you watch a lot of cycling, it can be pretty damn difficult to recognize someone wearing sunglasses and a full kit.

Hushovd gave an interview today saying he is in even better shape than he thought he would be. He's very optimistic about the early classics and has, as usual, Paris-Roubaix as his target and he's feeling great.
In other news, water is wet and the sky is blue.

In other news, Williams claim this is the year they're back to beating Ferrari and they've definitely learned from the mistakes of the previous year
