Sagan should still have between 80-90 % of my total points, but I have to agree that it is quite nice to see some other riders getting results too. |

Our final race of the season was the Tour of Hainan. It must be one of the most boring races on the calendar and we did not have the race days left to send a leader here. So all we would be doing was looking to show our sponsors in the breakaway. We managed to get in the break quite often and it paid of once when Da Dalto got 5th from the break. For the rest of the race we did not get great results and on the first and last stage the whole team got dropped, so we had no shot at a good GC result.

Season top-5
Hi everybody! My first season as a pro cyclist is over and boy, what a great season it has been. First of all I'd like to thank Cannondale for the chance and trust they gave me. I'm happy I can stay with them for at least another year. Meanwhile, let's take a look at my personal top-5 of this season:
5: Criterium International
My third race of the season, after Tirreno - Adriatico and Milano - San Remo. The race contains a small TT, and I wanted to take some revenge for my 'not so good' first TT in the Tirreno. With names like Wiggins and Dowsett here I didn't expect much either, but I finished 7th, just 14 seconds behind Wiggins. And I beat Kelderman and my Andorran friend Llanet. I even got on worldwide TV!
4: Giro debut
Ever since I was a child I dreamt about riding a GT, and here I was! Whilst the team was centered around Basso and Viviani, I especially looked forward to Stage 8, the TT. Cancellara was there, as well as Dumoulin and Westra and Porte and other great TT'ist. In that field, I finished 15th, ahead of Dowsett, ahead of Durbridge, ahead of Basso!
3: Chrono des Nations
A classic that's just a TT! Perfect for me. With stars like Froome and Kim at the startlist, I was not looking at a podium but rather at a top-10. To my suprise I finished third, even ahead of Kim and only 53 seconds behind Froome. Unfortunately the race wasn't broadcast in San Marino.
2: World -23 ITT Championships
I have been noticed during the season, I was even named as a pre-race favourite for a podium spot. And I got to ride for the San Marinese team, an unicum for my country! In the road race I performed decently with a xxth place, but I truly cared about the TT. There, I managed to finish 4th behind 1 minute behind Kim, Durbridge and Birtles. Just outside the podium, but still a good performance.
1: Criterium du Dauphine
My best finish at the time of this race had been my 7th place at Corsica. I returned to France to race in the Criterium du Dauphine, and focussed on the TT. With TT-stars like Froome, Kim and Van Garderen, I didn't expect a victory. A top-10 would be nice. At the time I finished, I was the leader ahead of Bodnar. I was in the hot seat! Rider after rider after rider after me bit the dust in my time. I was 8 seconds faster as Kim with only GC-leader Froome left as real contender. Unfortunately, he was 27 seconds faster. Still, a second place was better than I had ever dreamed about!

With the World Championships in Italy, our riders wanted to show that there is more to our team than Peter Sagan. Obviously, that did not happen.
In the Team Time Trial, we started pretty good, but in the end we finished 11th. Even Euskaltel - Euskadi did better than us, so it is safe to say we were disappointed with this result.
With no real contender for the Elites individual Time Trial, we were mostly looking forward to the U23 Time Trial. We were hoping Pennarossa would get a podium finish. He got really close with a 4th place, 12 seconds behind Great Britain's Jordan Birtles. Well done Silvio.
For the Road Races, we had a top favourites in the Elite category, but not in the U23 category. In the U23 Road Race our best rider was Daniele Ratto, who finished 14th. In the Elite Road Race we had Peter Sagan, who was one of the top favourites for the victory and Moreno Moser, who was an outsider. Moser finished a good 15th and we hope he can develop more next season. Sagan proved once again he was one of the best classic riders around and finished 2nd, behind a solo victory from Joaquim Rodriguez.

Only Qinghai Lake was not done by Sagan. I set goals for other riders (Basso) in part 1 and 2, so it was in my best interests to pick goals in races that Sagan would ride in part 3. |

Hello Peter,
There is no doubt about it that you're going to the Tour to defend your Green Jersey. We are building our Tour team around you and we are hopeful Pennarossa will agree to ride the Tour to help you secure another Green Jersey. Depending on if they stay with the team, Sabatini and Bodnar will ride the Tour too. We're also looking on the market to get more riders to suit your needs in the Spring Classics and Tour de France.
