First national jerseys are won
Good news from Chile today, where Jorge Cristobal Riquelme won both the Road Race and the Time Trial at the Chilean National Championships. He was the big favourite for the Road Race of course, but even in the Time Trial he was outstanding, despite him disliking that discipline. Both races he won so convincinly that no other riders finished within the time limit. We'll leave him the chance to give you the full story.
Meanwhile we need to congratulate Willem Brouwer with a nice 3rd place in the Philly Cycling Classic. It was Sep Vanmarcke who opened the final with a devestating attack.
As usual, there was no stopping Team Sagan, but Willem Brouwer got a great 3rd plac,e securing us our last season goal. Sep held on for 5th, while Lars Boom also scored a few points by finishing 13th, well done guys!

Viva Hollandia!
And we have our next National Championship title. And it's a big one, if not the biggest of them all. The Netherlands 2013 Time Trial title goes to Wilco Kelderman of Belkin!
We were clearly the favourites with 5 good riders, and it was Bauke Mollema who set the first time on the tables.
But his time immediatly gets beaten by Robert Gesink,
That time wasn't allowed to stand for long either, as Stef Clement breaks it.
Other teams can't get the time of Stef off the tables, as decent time trialers like Terpstra, Dumoulin and Weening all fail. The time goes down though, but it's by the next Belkin rider, Lars Boom.
Only two riders left now, one not in our team. Christian De Vries misses the top time though. It'll be lars Boom or Wilco Kelderman now.
And it's Wilco Kelderman! He takes another 4 seconds off the clock and wins the National Time Trial Championship!

Viva Hollandia! (2)
A day after Wilco's success in the time trial, it's time for the road race. Again, no Vacansoleil meant that we were the big favourites and had to control the race. With both options for an attack on the hills (Mollema, Gesink, Kelderman, Slagter) and a good sprinter (Brouwer), we had plenty of options to win this race. So we went for full control.
Weening decided to put some pressure on Belkin, but Gesink and Mollema countered. Robert went all the way to the early break, while Bauke guarded Weening. Things were looking really good for us.
And on the final hill it's over, Robert soloes to victory, another great win for him and the team!

Does anyone feel like making a Holland/Chile jersey for Belkin?

There comes a traditional Dutch champions jersey with the expansion pack (tricolore style with blue pants) made by Kyle

The best way to finish the season
Is with a win, of course. Mark Renshaw made us forget the disaster in Suisse and Dauphiné by winning the final stage of the Tour de Luxembourg. Combined with the double dutch jersey, it was quite a good ending for us. We feel we are going to be safe to stay in the World Tour, but of course we need to wait until the UCI publishes the rankings.

Hi, it's Willem again.
I took it a bit easy after the tough Giro, the first Grand Tour in my (not-so-long) career. Next up on the schedule was the Philly Cycling Classic, a flat stage that finishes uphill. Obviously Peter Sagan was the favourite, and I was an outsider.
Manayuk wall definitely is a toughie, I might have underestimated that a bit, in the heat of the race. I thought I could've caught up a bit, but truth is, I should have been at the very front right from the start of the hill.
The race resulted in a comfortable win for Sagan, and I got myself a podium spot, getting 3rd. Not that bad, seems there was still some Giro form left.
Next up were the National Championships. Obviously, I didn't participate in the TT. But the road race was quite hilly, and would suit me pretty well.
With guys like Mollema, Kelderman, Slagter and Gesink, we'd also have guys if the race would get tougher.
I found out that my form wasn't too well. I might have still wanted to give it a go, but the DS thought I'd better work my ass off for Mollema. Fair enough, so I did.
I did a lot of work in the early phase, so that means I lacked energy to do something in the final phase. At 29km to go, Weening attacked, and 2 Belkins followed, meaning we stopped the chase.
In the end, it was Robert Gesink who won, which is a great achievement for the, in most cases, unlucky Dutchman. Which means Belkin finally has the Dutch NC again!
I finished at 21 minutes, I just took it easy, there was nothing that I could do anymore.
Meanwhile, the second part of the season has finished. I'm still in the Top 20 of the rankings, which is really great and a lot better than I'd expect at the start of the season.
See you soon,
Willem

June Rider of the Month
Not a good month for us, but we ended well. This month's winner is..
Robert Gesink
He'll be riding in the national dutch jersey this year, great for him and the team! Runner up is Wilco Kelderman, who will do the same during time trials. Third place is for Mark Renshaw, winning the final stage in Luxembourg.

Tour de France team announced
Theo Bos
Steven Kruijswijk
Bauke Mollema
Mark Renshaw
Tom-Jelte Slagter
Bram Tankink
David Tanner
Laurens Ten Dam
Maarten Wynants
A team with 1 goal, getting Bauke Mollema in the top 10. The Podium will be nearly impossible with Froome, Contador, Valverde/Quintana and Rodriguez expected to appear, a top 5 might be happening if we're lucky. On the flat stages, we hope Theo Bos or Mark Renshaw can cause a surprise, though it's probably Cavendish, Greipel, Kittel and Sagan we're facing. A breakaway might be our best option for a stage win, Tom Jelte Slagter seems our best option there.

Schedules for Willem Brouwer and Jorge Cristobal Riquelme

Jorge,
I've got to say, we're a bit disappointed by your effords in the previous season part. Your training work is below our standards. We urge you to improve and get back on your level at the start of the season. Nonetheless, we still have good hopes you can do great things for us, especially in the Vuelta. Here's your schedule, also the full 62 race days.

Hi, I'm back.
I'm definitely interested in the negotiations. It has to be said that there are multiple teams interested in me, though, so no need to rush it, I'm going to consider my options.
I am very happy at Belkin though, and it'll take a very good offer to get me out of here.

Hello guys
I would like to thank the Belkin Management for giving me a chance to show the world, both my story and what I'm capable of.
I guess the first thing I can do is telling you guys my story, I'm afraid that it's not a happy story and there are things that you must know about me. My name is Mangere Kaha, or you can just call me Khan.
I grew up in an Maori family, in a slum quarter outside Wellington , New Zealand. And I was named Kaha meaning Lazy, because I was sleeping all the time when I was a baby, I grew up among a poor people and we were doomed outcasts forever. There was not enough food to make us satisfied, and we were living of garbage to be frank.
As a clan tradition, the males are to be painted in the head, which is a sign like a Christian child having their Confirmation. That I was ready to become a man and I now had responsibility over my siblings. But I declined this tradition , because to be frank I hated my clan and our traditions. So I ran away from home at an age of 13 and before I didn't realize it I was taken into an orphanage.
And the next morning a older lady questioned me about my name and I told her on a whim that my name was Mangere Kaha, where Mangere means strong and I chose this because I wanted to confirm my resolve for the rest of my life. I was then adopted and taken into a wealthy family named the Henderson family and I was met with open arms.
Cycling
Now you may wonder how I got into cycling, and there really isn't a complete story about it. I was raised in Auckland, and in this city you couldn't really go to cycling then, so the way I found it to be fun riding a bike, was when we went on safari in the wilderness and our only way to get there was on bike with a backpack each.
My grandfather would come with a tent later on the first day and we would explore the wilderness. And it was on these trips I got interested in cycling and my imagination went far out of cycling. This freedom reminded me of how lucky I was to get into a better family, and it is something that I even today hold tight on.
I ride because Freedom is in my veins and cycling is the adrenaline that pulls the blood through my body

Transfer news
We have the first news from the transfer market. Wilco Kelderman will stay with the team, he signed a new 3 year contract. Jorge Cristobal Riquelme is also staying. We were in some doubt earlier, but Jorge guaranteed us he would intensifie his training. That was enough for us to extend his contract with a year.
Willem Brouwer is unfortunately leaving the team at the end of the season. We have to say we are very disappointed about that. We would've done everything to keep him, but suddenly we read he signed for Garmin. We wanted him to be the billboard of dutch cycling for the next decade, but it was not meant to be.
We are happy with his replacement though. Mangere "Khan" Kaha is a New Zealander of pure speed. He's only 21, so there's plenty of growing possibilities for him. With Bos and Renshaw at the wrong side of 30, we expect Mangere to lead the team in 1-2 years.
