My Tour de France 2013: Andy Schleck | End of the Line
Daggen
It's not stage result in the TT. It's strange result Pfft

Ian Butler
That TT sure was weird all right Wink

Contador is unusually strong. Is there doping in this new game? Pfft

Last stage today (except maybe waaay later tonight, depends)
Final stages tomorrow before the first Tour stage finishes irl.

Thanks for reading!

Stage 19 :: Bourg d'Oisans - Le Grand Bornand

Profile

Another day, another chance.

The Race

Because I want to take something home at least, I make a small effort to pick up remaining points for the KoM shirt. I'd love to have that.

i1300.photobucket.com/albums/ag96/JeanRemy1/tdf1902_zpsedc3c616.jpg

And then I waited, and waited.

Until the one but last climb, then I attacked!

i1300.photobucket.com/albums/ag96/JeanRemy1/tdf1903_zps165c5381.jpg

Contador didn't crack so Kiserlovski launched me into a fast downhill! We seemed to lose Contador!!!

i1300.photobucket.com/albums/ag96/JeanRemy1/tdf1904_zps91a13333.jpg

But no, he came back easily. Starting to get desperate I stopped my effort. I wasn't going to bring him to the finish like that. Then Froome attacked. I looked at my rival, the yellow jersey. He didn't move a muscle. Bluffing. I started chasing Froome but I was flat out already.

i1300.photobucket.com/albums/ag96/JeanRemy1/tdf1905_zps13fd6e3d.jpg

Froome took way too much time back, Contador did the downhill. But for me this is a disaster.

Oh noo! Froome overtook me by two seconds now. Damn it!

One more mountain stage, uphill finish. I'm exhausted, though, I don't have the strength for it, but I will take back those seconds, if it kills me!

See you tomorrow,
Andy

Maybe now just aim for second place. Make it your objective to beat Froome, and concede to Contador who is clearly too strong.

Great to see Andy grab that second place Smile

C'mon Andy, it's two seconds!

Malkael
Someone must have sorted out Froome-Bot's launch command sequence. Now I presume in yesterday's stage (game timeline) Froome encountered an error and failed to complete his program, perhaps he got an OutOfMemory Exception.

Going to be a Thor's Hammer of a task for Andy to snatch the overall victory now. We shall see if Andy winning the TT was a miracle too far or if he can pull off some audacious, like almost happened in 2011. Hopefully Andy can at least re-secure second from Froome tomorrow however.

Aim for the second place, it will still be a fantastic result.

Cycleman123
Second will still be great, plus, you'll still get the 2013 Tour win in a couple of years even if you do come 3rdWink

We now all expect a long range attack just like in 2011.

It's amazing to see so many people following and commenting to this story Smile I didn't expect that, to be honest! I hope you enjoyed it, because I will post the final stages in a second.

@Malkael - I think FroomeBot needs some reprogramming for next year Wink Thank you, too, for your many long comments and replies on this story, it was great having you!

Stage 20 - 21: Big Finale

Profile

i1300.photobucket.com/albums/ag96/JeanRemy1/tdf2001_zps99fd9ae1.jpg

It's show time, folks.

The Race

As promised, I attacked! 50 kilometers from the finish seemed a good time to start the final battle.

i1300.photobucket.com/albums/ag96/JeanRemy1/tdf2002_zpse7783d54.jpg

Of course, they didn't let me go easily. Contador was like a pit bull today.

i1300.photobucket.com/albums/ag96/JeanRemy1/tdf2003_zps3da6f71c.jpg

Froome had missed the split and was coming behind. I liked this, he was wasting energy!

i1300.photobucket.com/albums/ag96/JeanRemy1/tdf2004_zps0ae15c61.jpg

There was no time to play around today. Froome joined and I looked at him. He didn't seem fresh to me.

i1300.photobucket.com/albums/ag96/JeanRemy1/tdf2005_zps345419db.jpg

Not wanting to give him time to recuperate, I went onto the attack!

i1300.photobucket.com/albums/ag96/JeanRemy1/tdf2006_zps215ff83d.jpg

And just like the previous days, Contador didn't move a muscle unless it is for the sprint for the win. But I don't care, I set enough distance between myself and Froome!

The Next Day - Paris

In the final race of this Tour, I ride into Paris a proud man, wearing the Mountain Jersey and being 2nd in the General Classification.

Well, here it ends for us.

In the end, I enjoyed two beautiful stage wins, an amazing jersey and a solid final result. I've come from afar, and I did everything I could here, and I'm proud of my achievement. I put up a fight!

I thank you for being here with me during this entire Tour de France!

@Selwink: I could've used an extra friend these last 21 stages Wink

I would also like to use this opportunity to announce I'll be retiring from story-writing now. It may not be permanent, but for now I feel I've put the maximum of my abilities in my stories and, frankly, I'm done for now.

Next school year will be full with internships and hard work, and I also want to be able to just play PCM on my own pace and enjoy a nice, solo career. There's a lot of strong stories going on now, so I won't be missed too much Wink

I hope to come back one day with a new story, but that might be for PCM 14 or later.

Thanks for following this and/or any other of my stories. I had a great time writing them and I hope you enjoyed them!

Until we meet again,
Ian
