Too bad there weren't gaps, as my Rigoberto was really strong today. Hopefully tomorrow some gaps will be present as he will probably loose some time once again in a flat/hilly stage...

This is actually pretty good so far. A few top stage placings, 3rd in the team rankings, 2nd in U25 and an awesome ride there by Guldhammer staying with Schleck up that mountain. 11th is really good and hopefully he can hang onto that!

Great reports and what a show from Tenorio, some smart riding awarded by the win. Shame that no gaps in mountains are killing this game a bit.

Meh. That attack from Nerz was absolutely useless.
Though it at least gave him a great position into the climb, better than he gets shelled out the back for some reason and finishes 50th...

I hope everyone enjoyed that report, it was a hell of a stage to watch. Just to let you know there won't be a report tomorrow because writing this one just took it out of me and I need a day to actually get Uni work done etc.

Brilliant racing and reporting!
It's somehow disappointing that we don't even bother trying for the breakaway, but I guess the stage were just too tough for us. Though, loosing the lead in that huge battle for the last place to Simply Red Bull is annoying
Great to see the big GC guys fighting it out, Tenorio vs. Contador seems to be the battle for the overall win, as Machado doesn't seem to have the needed edge over the two Spaniards racing in Spain.

Yes that was a great report, but I'm really getting fed up with Nibali. He's raced like this all year.

ember - look at the team standings I swear SRB were trying to get that bottom spot on the team standings!
Great stage, and I loved the report. Thank you Count for entertaining us.
As I said before Tenorio is vulnerable against Contador on the hardest mountain stages. But as before on the hilly stages without actually taking the time bonuses he is not taking huge chunks out of the gap between the two.
The other thing here is that Tenorio may not win the mountain classification or even the points the way things are going.

Well, if Machado can't gain any time on Nibali in a stage like this, the podium is totally out of reach.
Nice showing by Maillet though. He seems like a perfect guy for this kind of stages. Almost his second GT stage win there.

Yeah, this is no good at all! But we made a surprising comeback last time, and we're planning something big for stage 15. Watch out, you grupetto! |

Contador makes the fight for first a bit more exciting again, though I fear it will be out of reach for him.

Why did Tenorio attack, he could easily have had Valls and Lopez Garcia pull back another round.
On the plus side, we have judged which breaks to pull back perfectly.
Oh, and thanks for the excellent reporting, I was on the edge of my seat for most of the stage

Man I thought the mountains jersey was in the bag there, and was even hoping for a stage win. Still good stuff by Ă–ste-Macdonald, nice to see some aggressiveness. Great write-up of the stage I must say.

Great job by Contador.
Too bad that we gave away the win to a breakaway, that sucks. Contador really needed to hurt Tenorio here to battle it for the win, which seems as good as impossible by now but more importantly we shook up Nibali a fair bit. I need a little bit of a margin going into the mountains TT, where Nibali might be better than Contador so this is pretty good.
2nd GC and hopefully some more good stageresults is a good result from Contador. Now I just need Guerao to perform aswell.

The good thing for us in this Vuelta is so far the Team standings place.
Otherwise I would have hoped for more (Cobo Top 15 plus more attacks instead of dragging dead sprinters back into the pack) but he might still get into the Top 15

What a beast of a stage that was. Nice to see the GC being shaken by Contador, but I believe this is all playing into Tenorio's hands.
On our side it's great to see Plaza faring so well and even climbing another place in the Overall.

Once more a retarded sprint by Guerao. I guess I might aswell just give up. He won twice last season, but now after spending 3mio worth of training him he's utter shit.
I really can't seem to crack the sprint code. I have tried sprint trains, no sprint trains, good sprinters, sub top sprinters, shit sprinters. I'm still to find a way to make a consistant pointshaul from it. I guess I'll go for 1 top sprinter next season and absolutely no sprinters in the other races to atleast go for some breakaways.

Apparently Richeze saw no reason to contest that sprint, oh well.

I understand your pain here - I really though Guerao would be good odds for two or three stages here. I suppose you could say he lacks a few stats that guys like Holloway, Goss, Impey and Van Stayen have but I would have thought his nationality (and at least equal sprint) would have won through.
I do think if you have a sprinter, it has got to be a good one else the odd podium is probably the best you can hope for. Often these second tier guys don't even get involved in the sprint.
The top names are not going to come cheap - I think I was very lucky to get Van Heerden and Van Stayen for reasonable prices.
'Going for breakaways' is also very hit and miss I reckon - no way to rely on steady stream of points.
Amazing speed from Van Stayen on that stage by the way who has these great turbo charged moments, I have to be pleased with second considering he was nowhere to begin with.
