You've also got to remember i only used Levarlet for the first ever sponsors goal, and he won a stage back then, and so it's not like its unusual to see a rider like him to do well, goodish climbing skills and an ok sprint.

21. The oldest guy on the team (and one of the worst) is C.Diguet at 29 who's still coming back from injury.

Stage 4, the potentially shattering stage for Levarlet as he isnt all that great a hilly climber yet.

Everyone apart from Tronet was on protection duty today to try and keep Levarlet's chances alive.
With 40km left, it was just down to Brouzes and Levarlet however.

Surprisingly, the riders only attacked and went for the climbers points again on every climb. Finot was the only rider able to create a gap on the final climb and kept going on the downhill.

He goes on to win the stage fair and square, and luckily some of the sprinters left in the group help close the gap so there are no time gaps between him and the peloton.

Stage 5, a pan flat stage should see no trouble to the overall GC.

The usual break went, was brought back, went again, stuck. And as per usual was brought back long before the finish.
With the terrible cross winds in this game, my riders always do crap in stages like this, and today was no different. By the 2km mark, Tronet had picked a good lead out train, and then promptly ran out of energy. Levarlet had long been bullied off a good wheel and was sprinting for 30th place.

Tronet faded badly to finish way back.

Bayern - Rundfahrt
We asked to come to this race, and for a small fee were accepted. To be promoted next year instead of either Barloworld or Wiesenhof we really have to start performing well at this level and get some good results here to really start wracking in the points.
As well as the vital points, we are sending a squad here for the experience levels, which could prove invaluable towards the last races.
Stage 1 is a rolling affair with a flat finish which Tronet again will look to do a good sprint on. Drujon is still resting up, waiting for some slightly easier flatter races to really make good use of his sprinting against weaker riders.

The other riders coming along are:

The majority are here for experience, and Belkov will be looking to get a top 10 result and one step closer to lvl 3.
We decide to take the race by the horns and send our weakest team leader off for a day of solo riding.

He takes the first two climbs, and 2nd in the 3rd, but soon after can't keep up even though he is in "form".

As a result he misses out on one day in the climbers jersey by 3 points, and also rolls in dead last, which is a position i'm sure he can keep.
The break was soon over however, and with Tronet protected by Malacarne and Chainel it was full gas for the sprint.
He left it until 3km to go before finding a wheel in the hope to conserve as much energy as possible. We don't want him to repeat the running out of energy as he did before.

Tronet did move up a fair bit, but just didn't have enough kick to get past a few more riders. He still took a nice top 10 place though.
Dekkers looked to have won it, until he was overtaken 20ms from the line.

good result. its a shame Wiesenhof got two riders in the top 5.
how will that affect the points in the race for promotion? i'm not too sure how the points system works in the continental tour. |

A stage win in a race like this will give about 25 points, down to about 10th place with like 1 point. An overall win gives something like 150 points, so obviously im trying for top 10s just to keep some points coming in, and going mainly for the overall results as i can get more points that way really. Luckily for me, Barloworld have entered both the Giro, and the Tour, so that puts out of action Hunter and Soler. Hunter is already on like 11 wins and 2nd in the continental rankings, but with them out of the hunt for basically 2 months, it gives me a chance to crawl back under their noses. B) With a bit of luck, and a lot of entering HC stage races (which i already have) i have the potential to narrow the gap considerably.

Stage 2 of the Bayern Rundfahrt
A hilly stage could well see the GC shuffle around a lot. We hope Belkov will be good enough to stay up there and hopefully start to move up the classification.

We had Belkov nicely sat in the pack, and then he decided to have a -4 day. Typical.

The pace wasn't too high, and with the amount of riders protecting him, we were confident he'd stick with the pace easily. We even thought he might be able to go with a few attacks on the penultimate hill, but it wasnt the case. Only Navarro managed to get a gap, and he was quickly brought back.

On the final hill, 5 riders went, with Martinez getting the biggest lead.

Pecharroman managed to claw back the small gap however, and with only 2km left to the line the sprint began and he managed to win the sprint by about 1cm.

Belkov and Brouzes rolled in at the front of the group, Brouzes even managed to get the final top 10 position.

Pioline earlier in the stage had even managed to take 2nd place on the first climb, and so took the mountains jersey for the day! B)

Stage 3
Another hilly route with a short sprint. If Belkov was feeling good today, he'd go for an attack over the top and see if he could get a couple of seconds lead to try and get a win.

Pioline went with the break again, but couldn't do anything against Stauss getting a win on one of the climbs.

He sat on for a good 40km before he was asked to relay in, so he complied and just tapped through. When the sprint arrived, 4 of the riders were so weak that they got dropped in the sprint. Instead of chasing back on, they sat up completely. Leaving Pioline in the front break with the potential of retaining his lead in the mountains classification.

However, after coming second in the next climb, it was obvious that Pioline, to put it bluntly, is shit. And even with 90 fitness as he has at the moment, he just couldn't even do a relay on 99% effort.

But not to worry, as Belkov had a form of 0 today, so a better day then the one before would help us all.

Again the final climb spurred on some attacks, but no one went clear, and so it was upto Belkov to go for it on the final climb.

The question was would he be able to get a big enough gap?
No would be the answer to that, and a fair few riders with better flat stat came around him in the end, another top 10 finish though keeps our teams consistency.

With the ITT tomorrow, Belkov will really need to be on form to get us any points.

Stage 4, the ITT
This could be a make or break stage if we want to get any good overall position.

Pioline was the first rider off and set a Blistering pace that would see him not roll in as last rider for once.

He was of course, no threat to a rider such as Roberts, who ended up taking 2nd place on the stage.

Belkov rolled out, and after instantly starting to lose ground (34th at the first check point) he did what Russians are good at and dug in to pull back to finish 13th on the stage. Moving himself upto 12th overall.
