Nice effort from Meersman and Boonen in the last km. Never tries, never wins ;
You are right ! He won La Drome , finished 7th here , maybe he will win again next time

I had expect more from boonen but meersmann was really good
We decided to put Boonen work for Meersman and he did a great job . We expect from Boonen big results in other races
Ian Butler
Who could beat Sagan? Meersman did excellent!
Boonen will beat Sagan ! It will be pay-back time in Flandres !

Decent result for Meersman.
Thanks !

That indeed was a good effort from Gianni Meersman
Thanks , he did his best - a top 10 is ok !

I have to say I love your graphics card - great screenshots. I guess that's how PCM looks on max settings.
I have indeed max settins even if I have a laptop . Intel I7 , 4GB RAM and GeForce GT550M 2GB are my specs if you want to know I hope you will continue to follow my story .
I will post a preview of Paris-Nice in the evening . I hope that I will also have time to race the first couple of stages .
So we are now back in France , this time for a much more important race : Paris-Nice . It is a WT stage race , with 8 stages , starting form Montfort with a short ITT and ending , like usual , in Nice . It is the first goal for our sponsor Omega Pharma and we want to achieve it , by finishing in Top 3 in the GC. We expect a tough fight for the Yellow Jersey .
Stages
As you can see the profile kinda suits Tony Martin , thanks to the ITT and the fact that there are not very difficult stages . Of course there are 3 hilly stages , one that will end uphill , but still I think he has a good chance at a podium place .
Line-up
As you can see Tony Martin is in great shape before his first goal of the season and this gives us hope for a good result .

The organisers decided to use the exact same route as the one from 2010 , so the 71st edition of Paris-Nice starts with an ITT . More of a prologue actually , only 8.2 kilomters . It's not very long but let's hope that Tony Martin can gain some time over Contador , Nibali , L.L.Sanchez and of course Van Den Broeck . In 2010 Lars Boom won , with a time of 10'56 ".
The race
David Zabriskie was the first rider with a chance of a podium place today to set off . The American TT champion set the best time : 11'10 " . But then immediately Voigt crossed the line , 10 seconds faster than Zabriskie .
Westra was the first rider who had hopes at the GC to set off .
The Vacansoleil rider won a stage in 2012 and is the runner-up from last year . He showed again that he is in good shape at Paris-Nice , setting the best time - first rider to go under 11 minutes : 10'56 " .
Thomas , a specialist of the short TT's was doing very well . He beat Westra's time for 1 second , he's now in front :10'55"
And then Tony Martin set off . The World TT Champion set the best time at the intermediate check , but only 4 seconds faster than Thomas . Anything can happen .
But in the 2nd part of the race he was even faster . He set an amazing time : 10' 36 "!!!! 19 seconds faster than Thomas .
L.L.Sanhez was another strong rider . But the Spanish TT Champion had a disappoinitng time : 32 seconds behind Tony Martin . Meanwhile Nelson Oliveira crossed the finishing line with the 2nd best time : 16 seconds behind Martin .
Sylvain Chavanel was our last rider to compete . He was in great shape , had the 3rd time at the first time check . He crossed the finsh line 2nd ! 1-2 for Omega Pharma !!!
Nibali had 1 km to go . He crossed the line at 11'11" , 35 seconds behind Martin . Astana's leader must be disappointed .
The last rider on the route in the winner from 2007 and 2010 , when there was the exact same route as this year : Alberto Contador . But El Pistolero is compelety out of shape , he finished 63rd .

A intermediate sprint was placed at the time check . Thanks to this Tony Martin gained 3 more seconds in the GC !
That was my exact same reaction ..actually i cheked difficulty , i though it changed and it was on medium or easy , but still hard... Seems that the big names are not in good shape in March , because Oliveira and Quinziato beat L.L.Sanchez , Nibali , Contador , Gretsch , Thomas etc . Hope we can now keep the Yellow Jersey until we arrive in Nice .

2nd stage of Paris-Nice : almost 200 kilometers of flat roads . No climbs , only 2 intermediate sprints , so we expect to be a rather boring day for us as we have no sprinter . Still we have the Leader's Jersey and we must be very careful , control the race and try to avoid any falls .
The race
Soon after the race started a 4-man break-away was formed : Gene , Devolder , Lemoine and Willems . Their biggest lead was with 130 kilometers to go when they had a 8 minute lead.
Thankfully , the sprinters' teams took over .
With 15 kilometers to go Devolder and Gene attacked from the break-away as Lemoine and Willems were caught . With 10 kilometers to go their lead was of only 20 seconds .
In the last 6 kilometers all the teams with sprinters tried to form some trains . But Vacansoleil was definitely the strongest , having R.Feillu as a lead-out for Van Hummel .
Van Hummel took advantage of all the work that Vacansoleil did and took the win !
Even though there are 3 climbs , this is another boring 200-km stage , just like yersterday. All we have to do is to protect Martin and keep the Yellow Jersey.
The race
Again a 4-man break-away was formed early . This time Berard , Lund , Rathe and Fouchard were the escapees . We did the work for 50-60 kilometers but the sprinters' teams reeled in the BOTD in the last 100 kilometers .
They were caught when they entered the last 10 kilometers . After this Vacansoleil and Lotto took control , forming the "trains" . The heavy rain and cold weather might cause some problems to some riders .
Van Hummel started the sprint first and had an important gap with 1km to go.
This is the first difficult stage of this year's editiion of Paris-Nice . The stage is pretty long , almost 210 kilometers , and has 6 climbs . The last one , Cote de la Martinie , a 2nd cat climb , is placed with 4 kilometers before the finish line so we must be very careful and don't let anyone to attack .
The race
A 5-man break-away was formed , including Simon Clarke , who wears the Polka Dot Jersey . With 6 climbs on the menu it was a good decision to get into the BOTD , he can increade his lead in the KOM Rankings .
They were caught pretty soon , with 25 kilometers to go and after this riders from the peloton attacked to get the stage win : Vanmarcke and Voeckler were the first . They created a 30" gap .
Right before Cote de la Martinie started they were joined by Burghardt , Vansummeren and Klier . Chavanel was leading the peloton , with Martin in second postion .
Martin felt really good and decided to attack in the last 500 meters on the climb and joined the other 5 riders who were already in the break . On the downhill we created a small gap to the peloton thanks to Voeckler who is a very good downhiller .
With 1 km to go it was a compelete chaos : Tony Martin , Burghardt and klier were still in front , while Voeckler was making efforts to catch us . Vansummeren and vanmarcke were caught , while Plaza and Quintana attacked from the pack .
Martin wins !
( Sorry I was so excited that he won that I forgot to take a screenshot when he crossed the line ! )
