1 down, 2 to go. ROLL ON FRANCE XD
Awesome review and exciting TT. The brits had to put it all out there today. Think Froome missed out a bit though. Still think Wiggins is too far off even with the TT heavy tour. |

The next three weeks
The riders have been given some rest and all 198 riders are now gathered in Liege to continue the racing.
Preview of week 4
Stage 22
Stage 23
Stage 24
Stage 25
Stage 26
Stage 27
Stage 28
Readers Competition
With the stage profiles made public it is now (really) time to place your bets.
Next weeks questions:
1. Who will lead the GC after stage 28? (3 pts)
2. Which team will take the most wins (1 pt per win)
3. Who will lead the points classification after stage 28? (2 pts)
As usual the answers are to be PM'ed to me. I will name the winner each round so don't worry if you can catch Marcovdw in the GC - there's always the stage win

I expect Contador to come to the fore at the TDF. And either Froome or Wiggins in 2nd. Nibali will probably slip into 3rd place.
Pinot will pull away in the Youth. Cavendish to take over the points.

Stage 22: Liège – Liège (ITT)
Real life: Cancellara took the stage ahead of Wiggins and Chavanel.
Van Garderen has had to look to the TT’s for personal success. Today is no different as he sets a strong time early on. Will 8’19’’ be fast enough though?
Certainly fast enough to beat another pre-stage favourite Geraint Thomas. The Welshman is 2 seconds slower in goal.
Taylor Phinney did very well on the prologue in Herning, but how will he like the rain that have just begun?
Quite well actually as he destroys Van Garderens time by 12 seconds. That’s two seconds per km!
French TT-champion Chavanel will be aiming for a good time here, but is two seconds short of the young American.
Days like this usually have Cancellara written all over them and today is no different as the Swiss is first to get under 8 minutes. 7’51’’
Will the World Champion be able to beat Spartacus?
No, 7 seconds slower!
The last rider with even the slightest chance to beat Cancellara is Bradley Wiggins. He is only 4th best though.
Due to technical reasons you'll have to wait to after the next stage for a full provisional standing, but nothing much changed anyway

Nibbles lost a bit of time there, 8 secs to Contatdor and 9 to Froome. 16 to Wiggins (who is still too far back.)
For such a short prologue thats not bad for Froome at all. |

Stage 23: Liège – Seraing
Real life: Peter Sagan won the stage ahead of Cancellara and Boasson Hagen.
14 riders get in the early break and has 7 minutes with 100 km to go. A lot of second-rate sprinters such as Ferrari, Bos, Swift and Bouhhani in here.
50 km left and just under five minutes. The sprinter teams seem to believe it will be their day in spite of the hard hill in the end.
With 20 km to go Boom attacks from the peloton. The break is still in front by 1’30’’
While Cancellara and Luis León Sánchez tries to bridge the gap to the break there’s a huge crash in the peloton leaving only 82 riders in the main group. Best placed rider caught behind is Valverde, while it can hardly surprise anyone that Evans was badly positioned again today.
9 km to go. The “peloton” lead by Omega Pharma – QuickStep is now only half a minute from the break and Swift try to make it on his own, but to no avail as the break is caught even before Swift is done attacking.
Westra extends the attack and with 4 km to go he has 30 seconds on the peloton.
The hill is expected to be too hard for Cavendish so today he is doing the leadout for Boonen.
Going under la flame rouge Sagan is coming fast from behind going for victory.
Gilbert was caught behind when the peloton broke but makes a brilliant comeback. No one can get anywhere near Sagan though.
Peter Velits and Vasil Kiryienka had to abandon as a results of the crash.

Didn't expect the sprinters trying to win this stage... But a great win for Sagan and it seems like I'm getting zero points. Again

Well the final result wasn't too far from what happened in real life, and to be fair Omega Pharma and Argos was rewarded with some good placings for their hard work. 2nd for Boonen and 4th for Degenkolb is quite good for a finish like this.
And you do have points from the last round (unless I signed you up for wrong answers ). 3 for Nibali leading the GC and then I ended up awarding 1 pt/stage to all in stead of just the top-country, so you're actually second at the moment!

Stage 24: Visé - Tournai
Real life: Cavendish won the sprint ahead of Greipel and Goss.
Plenty of attacks early on by prominent riders like Gilbert and Stannard. With 50 km to go they have four minutes on the peloton.
9 km to go and the break is still slightly alive. 35 seconds is not likely to be enough though.
With 4,2 km to the line we can play “spot the train”. Neither Greipel nor Cavendish is anywhere near the front in this slightly chaotic finale. Apparently the superstars aren't worth much without strong organized teams.
No one wants to start the sprint, but with 1,2 km to go Degenkolb takes the initiative.
200 m to and it looks like Boonen vs. Davis.
The Australian takes the first win for his team as well as his country.
