Santos Tour Down Under Stage 2
The one of the two hilly stage in this race, the riders are going to face pretty tough hills on their ways to Stirling. This terrain favours our team pretty much, so we're trying to keep things under control.
Right after the start of the race, a 5-men breakaway broke away from the pack, but after some tough minutes, they were brought back by Movistar, working for Kiryienka. After some backfireing actions, finally a 3-men break got away with Puccio, Rosseler and Oss.
This breakaway got quite a bit of a lead, which even crossed the 10-minute mark, things were looking rosey for them with around 70 kilometers to go. As the lead was growing more and more, we decided to send Dupont to the front and have him chasing. In this action we received lot of help from BMC and Vacansoleil, we couldn't chase down them on our own. The break got caught quite early at around the 30 kilometer mark.
As the pack was closing to the last 10 kms, some relentless attackers like Voigt and O'Grady tried to get away with several attacks, but none of them succeeded because of our increasing presence at the front. Our team relayed hard in order to keep things together, and let Blackwood and Nagy finish the race in a sprint.
Heading to the final kilometers of the stage, we were in charge at the front, our favourites were in really good position having a clear path on the right, with only Matthews on our wheels. It was Blackwood starting his sprint first, Nagy kept it cool after him, while Matthews was waiting for the jump.
Turning into the last kilometer, Blackwood is still in the lead, Matthews is struggling to keep up, while Moser and Devenys come from the left! At 700m, Nagy overtakes our Scot and is in the lead, but Moser is coming strong! Can the Hunyak hold on?
And Nagy gets the victory! Even has time to celebrate his win! Close call for the 2nd, but it seems like that Blackwood makes it a 1-2 for SpiderTech, edging out Moser with just a little distance! Devenys is 4th, while old man Hincapie gets the 5th.

Pye - 1
Blackwood - 1

Note: I'm thinking of changing the difficulty to extreme if this domination continues, however we were really lucky with the daily form, and also our team is the strongest here, so I don't know yet. What are your opinions on that subject? |

A great result for the team. We were all watching, at the training camp in Europe. Watching your team win with other teammates is very good for the team building. Now we're talking about that camp, I can give you a short description of it.
The Training camp
We're here mainly for the teambuilding, but also to improve our skills. It was all about teamwork though. We were devided in two groups, a climbing/hilly group and a flat/sprinters group. The climbers group went to a hilly terrain, and we went cycling on the flat. We practiced our leadout very good, and those guys all seem nice. At morning and evening, we(both groups) were at the same place, in a nice Hotel.
While they are racing in Australia, we're watching them on the TV. We can combine this with cycling ourselves though, since they are racing in the morning, well, at least it's morning for us when they're racing.
But about the team itself, of course, there are some cocky guys in it, like Bobson and Puskaric. But I can live with them, and they turn out not that bad. I must say that there are some very nice people in this team. Some that you can laugh about for ages, like Rossi. But also quite a few who you can't keep silent(DeLarge for example), and some who have great stories to tell, like Remington.
And of course there are some other nice guys, like Bakker and Sutton. One of the other Dutch guys, Groen, also seems nice. Of course, I can't name all the nice guys, there are way too many, so sorry if I forget somebody.
Oh yeah, and I also got to know the guy who will be my leadout quite a few times very good, Daggen Jensen. He seems like a great guy, and I already saw him in action. He's got a strong sprint.
Well, I really look quiet in comparision to the most guys, but I got to know some of the guys pretty well, and I think I'm a bit less shy now.
The TDU guys will join this camp when they get back from Australia. Well, I guess they will...
Right, I guess you want to see some pictures, don't you? Well, I got some, 1 while we were practicing the leadout, and 1 where three of us(Clemson, Jensen and me) were having a small sprinting competition. Yes, I won, but Jensen, and especially Clemson surprised me. Oh, and about Clemson, I think he's a bit wierd. He keeps bragging about the USA, and how much better they are than the Netherlands. It's driving me crazy, but I don't think he means it bad, and I think he's still rather a nice guy.
But allright the pictures:
It was the first time that I wore the jersey. I must say that it looked pretty good.
Man, I can't wait for my first race for this team in Qatar.
See you guys,
Wesley Hoogenboom

Returned from our training camp we were all tired. We are training to be in a great shape in the first race and to improve our skills. I'll not talk about the training camp as Wesley as already done it. (BTW Thanks Wesley, your kind words are really appreciated)
We naturally watched the TV and what can i say? Amazing job guys, an exciting final with Moser gaining speed and Beny and Jonathan still in the front! Wow 1-2, simply amzing. Well done and keep this pace!
Andrea Rossi
Abot the difficulty, i'll wait how the season will continue and then i would start thinking if switch to extreme...

Only a year ago I was an amateur rider who no one cared about, and now I'm part of one of the best teams in the world.
My journey hasn't been easy, but I somehow made it.
I was born in the small town of Lund in southern Sweden. My father is a major cycling fan and was the one who inspired me to start racing on my bike.
It was hard finding a club and I was almost always wishing I had been born in another country because in Sweden, cycling is as big as Ice Hockey in England.
Soon after my fourteenth birthday I found a club in a village some miles east of Lund. I was always faster than the others in races and scouts from the CykelCity team took notice of me.
By the time I was 17 they gave me a Stagiare contract.
I got a contract for two years but they didn't let me race larger races. When the two years had gone they offered me a new contract but I didn't want anything to do with them.
I started negotiating with Team NetApp but they couldn't see my potential. So after another season of finding a team, Spidertech found me.
They told me that they wanted me. I was happier than ever. Finally I got to race in a team where I would get to race and win!
Right now i'm with the main sprinter squad at a team building camp and we're having a great time. Wesley Hoogenboom is one of the nicest guys who is always nice to everybody.
He's one of my best mates in the team. Alex DeLarge is also really nice. He can't keep silent and that's what I like about him.
Kristjan Puskaric is a bit to cocky but he's funny from time to time.
Andrea Rossi is like our awnser to Jens Voigt. He makes you laugh until your stomach hurts.
I've been trying to introduce myself and help all the others with everything from bikes to cooking. The Norwegians have been keeping the mood up and are great guys.
I hope we'll all have a great WT season!
Bye for now!
Daggen Jensen

Csabi and team mate in Mallorca
The team went to the Mallorca beach. The team arrived 7 a o'lock. The guys had a great time , but it wasn't about cycling first, more than about getting our team cohesion a bit together. There were competitions on swam ,played volleybal , footbal on the beach
We talked a lot in the season , we asked the question from ourselves?
Maybe Wiles win on the Giro or Vuelta?
Maybe Pukaric win the biggest Tour?
the questions are going to be answered
Then afternoon we ride a few kilometers but there was an accident with bobbson scraped his elbow Fortunately laughed at it. At evenning eleven a clock rang a phone his the Fernando , communicate the good news benji won Australia.
The my first race in Trentino but will hard work !
