AG2R ? WTF ?
And he was at Skil-Shimano before, really that's surprising...

Apparently he's said it's because AG2R hadn't renewed his contract and he had no results of note or points, and was worried about that being the end of his career so he took it, ironically this suspension is probably his career over anyway. |

Skil-Shimano did have L'hotelliere (or however it's spelled). |

It's AG2R, you can't really believe that they're clean after Valjavec, no matter how rubbish they are. |

Yeah, I'm sure that's totally why

Hey, at least with Houanard we know he didn't dope for any of his pro wins.

Coming up, the confession:
"I made a mistake, I'm sorry, I was weak, but I was clean when I was 3rd on that stage of the Bayern Tour!"

In other news, Sky won't renew Leinders' contract.
Not that that will make a difference, his job doesn't require him to be anywhere near the racing anyway, so he doesn't need to actually have a contract.

You know how they say celebrity deaths always come in threes (probably a US thing, but I assure you, they do)? It always seems like doping news come in multitudes as well. A controversial doctor getting hired/fired, a new investigation, a rider testing positive, a rider being fired because of suspicion, etc, always seem to come in groups.
Hopefully we don't get more news tomorrow.
Velonews, by the way, has a very interesting story about how the Ekimov hiring has shocked the DS' at Katusha, considering the quality of season they had and the respect Holczer had behind the scenes.
Might've been political pressure. I wouldn't even be shocked if J-Rod gets pushed out at some point. That team takes nationalism to a whole new level. |

Tomorrow then, I expect that Riccardo Ricco will announce a comeback. |

A comeback by Ricco would be epic, how old will he be, again? Older than good old Jens? |

He'd be younger than Malcolm Elliot when he finally retired.

Ricco has a 12-year ban.
Note: This was a response to a Wacko post that seems to have disappeared...

Purito wanted him (Holczer) out. I dunno if that'll be enough for him to renew with Katusha, but he got it.

So is Vaughters accusing AG2R of what?
Edit: okay, he clears it up in a later tweet. Still I very much doubt there's a direct relation between the points system (which I despise myself) and this positive test.

I don't know - you're desperate for some points to get you a job/pay rise for next year and you don't expect to get caught cutting a few corners...Human nature that some will take a chance. |
