From zero to Giro - The CCC Polsat Polkowice story
maaarsh
Not sure if you are role-playing the confusion at the sponsor.

Asuming not...

The game won't let you more than double your salary spend from 1 season to the next.

Given it is clearly nonsense in this situation, best solution is to edit the save to increase current sponsor income, and the salary of a rider who is leaving by same amount (80k should do it). Will have a net 0 effect on your finances, but will allow you to spend the rest of your real budget.

Thanks Maaarsh, that's exactly what came to my head just few minutes ago, just wasn't able to check it, as I'm outside my home. As you say it makes no sense whatsoever, and your solution sounds pretty reasonable. However I'm not gonna do it, as I find such an interference to database cheating. Just gonna play by the game rules and wait another year with big spending.

Althought i don´t comment here much, i do follow your story. I like mostly how you control finances but IMO CCC is losing identity.... of course you sign who you wantWink
... another thing that spins in my head is how the f+#% your poor scouts find such talents when my own legends ones dont ever found such riders....Frown ... you must be lucky..Grin
Keep the good work and would be nice if CCC could focus on Polish riders...Wink

I agree with you that Polsat is losing it's identity. But you must consider that Polsat is getting bigger ans therefore needs better riders. I don't think you can allow yourself to lose progress by sging wprse riders.

Ps. I tend to have loads of luck with the U23 Classification. In my last 2 years of my career, polish rideea have been dominating there. Try and look there!

I also think it's nice to keep some national riders, but my first priority is to keep improving the team. Who knows next year some talented polish riders will show up.

I'm feeling honored by your comment then. Smile
Well I would love to keep CCC Polsat Polkowice name, but last time I tried to renew the contract they offered me €5.000 less then I was getting so far, this time I didn't even get that privilege. I tried to find other Polish sponsor, but my scout came with nothing, so even if I wanted to stay with CCC or any other Polish company I couldn't, so it's not my choice really. The other thing is I don't want to, and as others said already - playing all life long with budget of €32.000 a month makes no sense and doesn't get you anywhere and I'm pretty sure it would only make my story one of the borest ever.
Now, when it comes to young riders I just got my first scout few months ago, so it wasn't matter of them, I was just signing best ranked U23 riders. That is truth, that you need some luck with that, but I wouldn't consider myself lucky, as all of them were pretty average (on my last career, in first season I managed to get a sprinter with FL 76, ACC 78 and SP 78). In this one my only decent youngster is Nunez, but bare in mind that I signed him as free agent not U23 youngster. I'm gonna use scouts from now on, so you will be able to compare riders found by me to yours.

Finally I did some racing. Just finished Tour de Pologne. Nunez was pretty close from winning second stage.

Juan Jacob Nunez losing sprint to Daniel Schron.

On stage 3, he came 3rd. Huzarski did pretty well on hilly stages and he came 3rd on stage 6 and finished the most important tour on 7th posiotion. However the team was missing Rutkiewicz, as he probably could do better (was 2nd in GC lat year). As a consolation Castroviejo won KoM jersey, what alongside with top 10 place made my sponsor quite happy.

Tour de Pologne (WT)
Overall: 7th Huzarski
Points: 4th Nunez
Mountain: 1st Castroviejo
Young: 3rd Nunez, 5th Kwiatkowski, 9th Olszewski
Team: 5th

Nice results. Are you head of the National team btw?

The team would be great in a Grand Tour with all these climbers Wink

I am Mico, but I'm not bothered with playing that as my riders arn't good enough to take decent places there. However I might have a go with Kwiatkowski in ITT this year. Anyway Tour of Qinghai Lake just ended up. Not a great one for my team. Failed to get a mountain jersey, was outside top 10 in points classification, 10th team-wise and it was only Aliu who did well, finishing 4th in general (could be better if didn't fall on stage 7 and won any of intermediate sprints afterwards).

Daniel Aliu losing fight for a stage win with Javier Moreno.

Tour of Qinghai Lake (2.HC)
Overall: 4th Aliu
Points: 15th Aliu
Mountain: 5th Navardauskas
Young: 2nd Aliu
Team: 10th

I aslo got few riders. Not any decent ones, just ones that I could get for €2.000 as that's all I can offer (well in fact my sponsor allows me to offer only €700 or €0, but €2.000 is the smallest amount you can actually offer to a rider). Just to have more cyclist in a team and to increase my wages for next season. For now it's €107.000, which means I will be able to allocate as much as €214.000 on wages next season - that should do.

My next race is in one month time and it's gonna be Volta a Portugal.

My young riders joined the team, so here's their potential. Quite happy with Ansell (apart from low FL stat) and McArther. The other two will be probably gone before their contracts expire.

With 4 flat, 2 mountain, 3 hilly stages and 2 time trials Volta a Portugal promises very interesting. Only 88 riders from 12 teams registered for this race. Unfortunatelly CCC Polsat Polkowice wasn't the best prepared team with nearly monthly break since last race and it could be felt on the day 1 prologue. Despite Ramunas Navardauskas win, rest of the team did pretty poor, with Daniel Aliu finishing 23rd, Michal Kwiatkowski 25th and J.J. Nunez 26th.

The only one who didn't disappoint - Ramunas Navardauskas during the prologue in Portugal
img812.imageshack.us/img812/8278/navardauskas.jpg

He also won the 2nd time-trial session, but this time the others did much better too.

On hilly and mountain stages Polsat riders were unrecognizable (apart from winning mountain jersey by Contofalsky), but Juan Jacob Nunez totally dominated flat stages winning 3 of them and becoming 2nd on the 4th one.

Young Nunez showing his potential in Portugal.

Volta a Portugal (2.1)
Overall: 22th Aliu
Points: 1st Nunez
Mountain: 1st Contofalsky
Young: 5th Aliu
Team: 9th

Ansell will be a great sprinter with proper training!

I like the signings, those TT-rider will get the team some victories!

Mico92
I guess your team would do great in TTT races. At least it gives you some stagewins. Nice results with Nunez and goodluck with the remaining months of the season

Luca Barla looks a pretty handy rider Wink

There were much better teams in Tour of Britain, so Polsat didn't do as good in UK as in Portugal. With mainly flat stages I put my hopes on Nunez and aiming for a KoM with Kwiatkowski. First one did what he could, but with riders like Oss, Rossi, Ciolek and Goddaert he did shine as much as in Portugal. He finished few times top 5, but that was it. Kwiatkowski did much worst fighting for a mountain jersey - he simply wasn't enough and ended up 9th. There was pretty interesting crash on stage 3 and that was it.

Massive crash at the last km of stage 3.
