I have to say I really liked the opening ceremony. Probably the best I ever watched, I really enjoyed every part of it. Well probably only thing I really didn't liked were boots of Czech athletes..
I really like UK, I really like London and I love sport and Olympic Games.. so I am amazingly glad that I have completely clear next 2 weeks.. this is gonna be absolutely legendary..

Hmm, to sleep or not to sleep. Just got home from the Olympic stadium, and in less than 3 hours, I need to leave towards Box Hill.
You're such a lucky guy
Have some fun later, but I guess after all the spectacle, you don't need a British winner, do you?
I mean, the two most prominent GB athletes at the opening ceremony were cyclists, that should be enough media exposure for this week
I am interested in learning cultures of as many places as possible, and for some reason Great Britain and Japan interest me the most, so for me, the ceremony was very good. Slightly historical, and funny too. There was a big emphasis on kids, which I liked, I realised how many great musicians or groups came from Britain.
I also like that for Canada, the top cyclists actually seem to be getting the most attention, Hughes, Hesjedal and Whitten.

Ceremony was totally different than Beijing. I found it more "human" instead of drilled people acting like machines.
I think it was great. The music part just rocked with Bohemian Rhapsody, Trampled Under Foot, Pretty Vacant and I almost fell off my chair when I saw Dizzee Rascal. *BONKERS*.
Also 007 and Mr. Bean where very funny
And than Arctic monkeys and a going loose "hey jude" was amazing.
Only minus for me (that counts for the Olympic concept) is the duration of the whole parade of nations...
I can't remember that the opening ceremonys of Athens, Sydney or Atlanta were THAT long.. Beijing started it I guess.
Beijing was of course weird because it's a completly diffrent culture, even though it looked like some military drilled stuff very overstilized.
Londons opening ceremony was good, but too long.
The music part.. Where was Coldplay or Depeche Mode, more successful then Muse (they played Uprising I guess and not the official song of the olympic games) and also very british.
I should have watched the ceremony on Eurosport as ZDF know how to destroy everything..
As the starting nations went into the stadium, they showed often the Germans just standing doing nothing instead of the other nations..
A nice fact: We have more TV people from ARD and ZDF (both are like the BBC, but are working against each other, they know how to overspend money in these times..) in London then athletes because our country is dumb.. Instead of working together, they send both national tv station there.. I guess we have about 300 athletes there and almost 400 people working in London for ARD/ZDF.
Too bad that our country is full of idiots who don't want the olympic games and full of politicians who aren't efficient.. Berlin failing over and over again each time they applied and Munich with the protest of the people there who don't want the games.
But the World Cup 2006 was ok for everyone I guess.
And also too bad that track cycling got even more stripped down taking out disciplines (Time trial, individual pursuit, points race and Madison I think at least the Time trial should have been there with the points race) and putting in not that good one -> Omnium maybe they thought "If we put in Omnium, then we don't need the other disciplines"

Too bad Greipel didn't won, so now we have to hope that our horse riders will get a gold medal. 82 million people here and the hopes are on the horse riders.

I am thinking about getting tickets for Beach Volleyball, Volleyball, Football or Handball. There are still plenty of tickets to be sold on a few events. And with 2 weeks of work and plenty of money in the bank, I may try and get to some events that have tickets left. Living in the North West it isn't going to be easy.
Currently watching Women's Handball on the BBC website. Montenegro v GB, it's a great sport to watch.
I remember I said here something at the 2008 Olympics like "82 million people and we are the best at horse riding" someone actually took it as a signature and it wasn't me!
