Team Europcar- Best of the French! Tour de France!
Ste117
The Report

i648.photobucket.com/albums/uu204/Ste117_2009/PCM0002-27.jpg

The morning break eventually established after many attemps from numerous teams. It was a large break with 10+ riders, the break included Europcar's Cyril Gautier.

i648.photobucket.com/albums/uu204/Ste117_2009/PCM0004-31.jpg

After the break was caught the favourites start to show their colours, with 10km to go Cunego is forcing the pace out front on his own. In the next group we have Voeckler, Gilbert, Evans and Rodriguez. Behind them trying to bridge the gap we have Cancellara and Vinokourov.

The group of Voeckler, Gilbert, Rodriguez and Evans working hard to bridge the gap to Cunego.

i648.photobucket.com/albums/uu204/Ste117_2009/PCM0007-18.jpg

Voeckler senses his only chance of a win is to attack before the final hill.

i648.photobucket.com/albums/uu204/Ste117_2009/PCM0008-14.jpg

Possibly the biggest win of Voeckler's career, his season gets better and better, great tactical riding from Voeckler to claim a superb win here in Valkenburg.

Europcar Entries for May

5 Jours de Dunkerque
We hope to win a stage here in Dunkirk.
Tour de Picardie
We hope to also win a stage in Picardie.
Circuit Lorraine
We hope to finish in the top 10 on GC.

May is mainly giving our lesser riders a chance as Voeckler will be taking a break before a hectic schedule in June and July. There are many flat stages in the races we have chosen so we aim to take a decent sprinter to challenge for a win.

5 Jours de Dunkerque

This race focusses on the historic town of Dunkirk on the west coast of France. Situated on the English channel and close to the border to Belgium, this was a focal point during the war. Now the town is the focal point of a number of teams as they bid to win stages and overall classificaations.

i648.photobucket.com/albums/uu204/Ste117_2009/PCM0002-30.jpg

Stage 2

i648.photobucket.com/albums/uu204/Ste117_2009/PCM0004-33.jpg

Today's stage sees another chance for the sprinters to take a win and a good chance for Dumoulin to take back to back wins. He will be a marked man now after his first stage win.

i648.photobucket.com/albums/uu204/Ste117_2009/PCM0005-21.jpg

But the sprinters were to miss out as the break succeeds. Lukasz Bodnar of the CCC Polsat team wins ahead of Ladagnous of FDJ and Coyot of Saur Sojasun.

Today is one of two more chances for the sprinters to grab a win here around Dunkirk. Tomorrow's stage will be the deciding stage as far as overall will be concerned so will the teams be willing to put the work in or conserve their efforts for tomorrow.

i648.photobucket.com/albums/uu204/Ste117_2009/PCM0007-20.jpg

A mixture of CCC and Cofidis work on the front brought the break back and Dumoulin edged of Europcar's Arashiro to take his second win of the race.

[center]As the feature on most of the flat stages here, the break went away mopped up the points on offer throughout the stage and was caught ready for a mass sprint finish. Close to the 3km to go banner there was a crash that taken down over half of the peleton, including 7 of the 8 Europcar riders. Dumoulin won th stage to cap off a great race for him and Cofidis.
