Strange results with Burghardt, Hushovd or Gusev in the top 10 and Zabriskie, who was great in the timetrial and one hilly stage not for example. |

Strange results but doesn't matter that to Cataldo.
What is coming for the team in the next days? |

I agree. From what I could tell, the whole race was really weird. Vino would have won the GC if he wouldn't have lost two minutes on Cataldo on stage 4. Burghardt was for me the biggest surprise in the GC. He was only Top 10 in one stage and on that one he finished in the pack.

They certainly are.
Our next race is GP Pays de Loire and then Classique Loire Atlantique before taking on our first goal of the season, Criterium International.

It was indeed a great race for him. Haussler and Boonen was, as you said, big surprises. I think the TTT played a big role in the final overall result.

20.03.2011: Classic Loire Atlantique
Classic Loire Atlantique is an annual French one-day race, taking place in late March. The race is taking place on a hilly circuit around the town of La Haye-Fouassière. Classic Loire Atlantique was held for the first time in 2000 and every year since then. The most recent winner of the race is Dutchman Lieuwe Westra, after winning a three-man sprint.
61. | Alex Cano Ardila | 62. | Robinson Chalapud | 63. | Juan Pablo Forero | 64. | Taiji Nishitani | 65. | Wilmar Pérez | 66. | Victor Hugo Peña | 67. | Hugo Salazar | 68. | Juan Villegas |
We have two possible leaders here since were not sure how hard the route actually is. The whole team, including Ardila will work for Forero if he still feels good in the end.
However, if Forero struggles or feels weak, the leader role will be given to Ardila. He isn't as fast as Forero in the sprint, but he might be able to pull of a surprise if he has a good day.
Another thing that benefits Ardila is that the finish is uphill. It's not that steep, but the 4% average in the final kilometer will definitely create problems for some of the sprinters.
The rest of the team will as always work for our two leaders, but one of our riders will try to get into a breakaway.
We don't have any big expectations here, since Ardila is in average shape and Forero might struggle on the hills. We'll see how it goes.

1. | Anthony Geslin | FDJ |
I just can't see him losing this one. Everything is served on a silver plate for the Frenchman. A hilly route that isn't too hard, with good possibilites that it will end up in a mass sprint. Most sprinters will probably be tired after the hills, but Geslin is a good puncheur too, so he won't have any problems getting over the hills. The only thing that can mess it up for Geslin is if his shape isn't great.
53. | Samuel Dumoulin | Cofidis |
Dumoulin is a similar type of rider as Geslin. A good puncheur with a nice sprint to finish it off with. He isn't a super sprinter who wins tons of mass sprints, but in smaller groups, he's deadly. His weakness is that he isn't as strong as Geslin on the hills and might get problems in the sprint because of that. He should make it on to the podium.
8. | Benoît Vaugrenard | FDJ |
Vaugrenard is not the same rider type as the two guys mentioned above, but he still has good chances to compete for the win here. Because of his strong hilly capacity, he might be able to make a late attack and slip away with the win because nobody has the power to bring him back. His major weakness is that he won't stand a chance in a sprint against Geslin and Dumoulin, even if the finish is uphill.
La Haye-Foussière: 168.6km
The route is quite hilly, but all of the hills are really short and not very steep. It's hard to predict if they will be enough for some of the favourites to try some attacks. If not, then we will have a big group battling it out for the win. That favours the puncheur-sprinters like Geslin and Dumoulin. Let's see what happened in the race!
Juan Villegas was the first one to attack today, followed by some other riders.
After getting caught and breaking clear again a few times, a breakaway finally managed to go clear. Villegas was one of them. With a good rider like Pichot (72 SP) in the group, it was going to be quite interesting to see the reaction from the peloton.
Some kilometres later, the breakaway was joined by three more riders and now consisted of 11 escapees.
Further in the race, Bram Schmitz (Verandas) attacked from the pack and caught the breakaway soon afterwards. This was looking like Capecchi's move in Classica Sarda earlier this month. Some other teams obviously had the same thoughts and pulled up the pace in the pack.
The last escapees were caught with 20k left, when pre-race favourite Anthony Geslin launched a powerful attack.
The move was quite unnecessary, as he was brought back just a kilometer later. His form isn't great, perhaps?
Just as we said that, the next FDJ leader attacked. Vaugrenard quickly gained a gap to the rest, looking strong.
Pablo Lastras bridged up to Vaugrenard, but it didn't matter. They were caught as the sprint was being set up by some teams. Forero was a bit tired, so he and Peña tried to set up a train for a fresher Ardila. Dumoulin managed to slip in between our riders, sitting on Forero's wheel.
When Peña was done with his work, Forero launched his sprint. He took Dumoulin and Ardila with him and hitted the front with just the final hill to go.
Just before the Flamme Rouge, Dumoulin launched. His speed and power was supreme and the Frenchman left the others behind like if they were standing still. What a show by the Frenchman!

Thank you! Dumoulin was too strong in the end, but it wasn't really surprising that Forero and Ardila couldn't keep up with him since their shape isn't great.
I also like the pic of Vaugrenard.

Cholet - Cholet: 192.9km
The race is classified as a flat one, but it's still a hard one. Many small hills all the time. It is actually quite similar to yesterday's race, but a little easier. Another win for Dumoulin today?
Just like yesterday, the first rider to attack was a Colombia rider. This time it was Wilmar Pérez who attacked immediately from the start.
A few k's later he was joined by Kruopis (Landbouwkrediet), Molmy (Auber) and Agnoli (Liquigas). Together they formed the day's long breakaway.
They cooperated well the whole day, building up a gap of maximum eight minutes to the peloton.
With 25 k left, the breakaway was almost caught by the peloton. Kruopis decided to give it one last try and attacked from the break.
The attack was quite useless, as Kruopis was also brought back just a couple of k's later.
With five k's left, we tried to set up a train for Forero. Unfortunately, all of our riders were quite tired after the many small hills.
When Ardila was done with his work, Ospina took over and moved Forero to the front. Nishitani would have been a better leadout man, but he was too tired to be able to help at all.
At the line it was young Italian Andrea Guardini who took the win after a photofinish. Forero didn't have the legs to challenge in the end and finished 9th.
