@ all: Thanks.
Grand Prix de Plumenec-Morbihan: Plumenec - Plumenec: 194.0km
A hilly one-day classic, the Grand Prix de Plumenec is a race of importance for Saur - Sojasun. The main sponsors have singled out the race for a top 10 finish. Luckily for Saur, Jérémie Galland is the defending champion and will be leading the team.
Standing in Galland's way are the usual competitors in French racing this season. Nicolas Vogondy, Pierrick Fédrigo, Christophe Kern, Sandy Casar, etc.

Julien Simon was the only rider to make an initial breakaway. While a one-man break was unlikely to succeed, Saur decided to keep Simon out on the attack. Maybe something crazy would happen, and if nothing else, it would give the team some nice television coverage.
Simon rides alone as the sun pokes through the trees.
Behind Simon, there would be two separate moves. First, Scott Thwaites (Endura), Sjoerd Kouwenhoven (Van Vliet EBH Elshof), and Stanislav Starobudtsev (Itera - Katusha), left the peloton in an attempt to bridge.
Thwaites leads the second group on the road.
Shortly after that, three other riders made a similar move. They were Renaud Dion (Roubaix Lille Métropole), Geert Verheyen (Landbouwkrediet), and Santo Anza (Ceramica Flaminia).
With 100km to go, there were four groups on the road.
With 70km to go, Simon had been caught. But not by the first group. The group with Anza, Dion, and Verheyen, had overtaken the first chase group and successfully bridged with Simon. Together, the four riders had a lead of 5'39" over the main field. The original chase group was in the middle.
Simon and his new group lead the race.
With the course really beginning to ungulate, all of Simon's earlier work started to come back to bite him. He began yo-yoing off the back, and finally, with 30km left on the day, he would lose contact with his companions.
Simon is dropped by the leading 3.
At this point, the peloton was really moving quickly, and the break clearly didn't have much more time. Most of the Saur team had been shed, but Jérémie Galland was still in the lead group as the breakaway was arrested 15km from the line.
However, this is when the real race began. Numerous attacks were launched from the peloton. Twice Pierre Rolland almost got away, but each time, FDJ reeled the young rider in. Where Rolland didn't succeed in breaking free, he did help whittle the leading group down to 21. Only Galland was present for Saur.
7km from the line, Massimiliano Gentili (Ceramica Flaminia) jumped away. Only Matthieu Ladagnous (FDJ) followed.
Gentili moves clear with Ladagnous not far behind.
The two battled fiercely on the roads headed back into Plumenec.
Neither Gentili nor Ladagnous would ease up.
Behind them, chaos ensued. No team could organize and effective chase. Instead, counterproductive attacks were launched from the likes of Rolland, Julien El Fares, and Jack Bauer. Even Galland tried, but he too failed.
Under the flamme rouge, Gentili and Ladagnous were still shoulder to shoulder.
Gentili and Ladagnous had battled for nearly 7km straight.
In the final straight, it was the Italian who would get the better of his French colleague. Gentili had the better sprint to take a hard fought victory. In fact, Ladagnous would barely hold onto to second after an impressive late surge from Pierre Rolland.
Galland would come in 13th, another failed sponsor goal for Saur - Sojasun.
Gentili was incredibly strong on the day and takes the win ahead of a dejected Ladagnous.

A break of 6 riders formed in the early kilometers of the day. However, there seemed to be a real sense of anxiety in the peloton, and they never let the break get a lead of over 2 minutes, despite its composition being rather mediocre.
The break on a descent with the peloton not far behind.
The race would see far less action than yesterday, as perhaps fatigue had hit the group. While the break was arrested easily, the first attack came as the peloton went under the 10km to go banner. Anthony Geslin was the protagonist.
Geslin was the first to make his intentions known.
Jérémie Galland, Nicolas Vogondy (Bbox), and Simon Clarke (ISD) would try to follow Geslin's move, but none could make it.
Geslin was riding well, but had perhaps tried from too far out. He would be caught 4.3km from the line, as Emanuele Sella (CarmioOro NGC) had really upped the pace.
With the final uphill approaching, the riders opened up for a sprint.
The fastest up the hill would win the day.
On the congested hill, Galland, who was initially well placed, would fade badly, and finish in 38th, the best placed Saur rider. Overall, not a good day for the team.
Whereas the Saur team struggled, CarmioOro NGC had a great day, with Sella showing his power in the final climb, to take the victory. The controversial rider has been very outspoken about his team's rejection from the Giro d'Italia, and put an exclamation on his comments by winning on the same day as the Tour of Italy wraps up.

Wrap-Up
The 93rd Giro d'Italia belonged to one man, Vincenzo Nibali. The Shark, would win 4 stages en route to a stunning victory. Only 25 years old, Nibali has often been touted as an up and coming rider. For three weeks on the roads of Italy and the Netherlands, Nibali was able to make good on the bold claims often attached to his name. His margin of victory, over 8 minutes, does bring back memories of current teammate Ivan Basso's (then with Team CSC) 2006 victory. Hopefully, no scandal will follow.
Veteran sprinter Alessandro Petacchi was able to collect enough points and stage wins to win the red points jersey, the maglia rosso passione, a jersey he lost in 2007 due to a failed drug test. Petacchi would win 3 stages.
The maglia verde went to a rider from the wildcard team of Miche. Pasquale Muto collected 66 points throughout various breakaways to claim one of the biggest honors of his career. For a team which rides almost exclusively in the Italian domestic season, Muto's victory will be a great result.
The competition for the maglia blanca was about as lopsided as Nibali's overall victory. 10th place finisher Beñat Intxausti would take the jersey, over 8 minutes ahead of Francis De Greef.
Lastly, the winners of the team competition should not come as a surprise to any. Liquigas - Doimo, through Nibali and Ivan Basso's results would win ahead of Acqua & Sapone and Caisse d'Epargne.
Nibali celebrates his dominant Giro win.

Wow good report.
Just wondering but how did you get the results to look like they would with an export file without participating in the race and thus not having an export file to use?
I have a small idea but then I'd just be rambling on forever so I'll wait.

Thanks. I was thinking you either did that or just put big spaces in between the "sections" (for lack of a better word atm).

Just read the last 3 pages after missing all storys in the last month because of no time.
Was worth reading it with great wins with Jimmy Engoulvent.
Great story.

From what I could tell, it was a really weird Giro. With the exception of the Nibali, all the major contenders had at least 1 terrible day.
I was really impressed by Bertagnolli finishing 8th. He's a good hilly rider, but he clearly overachieved.
Team RadioShack disappointed with Janez Brajkovic finishing 38th and Tiago Machado finishing 39th, both over an hour down. I expected them to perform much better.

Other News
A double dose of bad news was delivered to the Saur - Sojasun headquarters today. The team's wildcard entries to both the Critérium du Dauphiné and the Tour de France have been rejected.
BMC Racing Team, Bbox Bouygues Télécom, Cervélo TestTeam, and Cofidis, le crédit en ligne received the 4 spots in the Critérium du Dauphiné.
Bbox Bouygues Télécom and Cofidis, le crédit en ligne received the two wildcards into Le Tour.
Saur - Sojasun is obviously disappointed by these revelations. Along with Paris-Nice, the team has not been invited to the three biggest stage races in France.
However, it is not all bad news. The team is pleased to announce that a last minute entry into the Tour de Suisse was accepted. Saur has altered some training schedules as this race will be their biggest stage race of the season.

Skoda-Tour de Luxembourg
The peloton moves to the tiny country of Luxembourg. Home of some of cycling's great riders, past and present. The five day race will cover rugged terrain, and will be used by Saur - Sojasun as training for the Tour de Suisse. With this in mind, the team brings a very strong team, with the likes of Sébastien Joly, Jonathan Hivert, Jimmy Casper, and Jimmy Engoulvent.

Sorry, no pictures for this prologue. Not too much excitement with Ignatas Konovalovas taking the win. Jimmy Engoulvent was the lone bright spot for Saur - Sojasun, finishing in 4th. The team managed to occupy 5 of the last 9 times on the day...

Well, there were two reasons, the prologue was bad.
1) I left all my riders on automatic and went to go take out the laundry. I figured over 4.1km there would only be so much time differences.
2) My rider's fitness schedules have been completely messed up by the races I tried to peak for. Most of this squad was aiming for the TdF, so are not in great shape.
Coppel has probably been the rider most affected this season, as he was aiming for P-N and TdF. Neither he raced...
As for Hivert, Casper, Talabardon, and Poulhiès, they are all terrible at prologues.

Skoda-Tour de Luxembourg: Stage 2: Luxembourg - Hesperange: 197.7km
The second stage sees the peloton leave the capital city of Luxembourg and move to the commune of Hesperange, to the southeast. Despite constant undulations, the stage should end in a mass sprint. Saur - Sojasun is hoping Jimmy Casper will be strong enough to get to the end.
A break formed early in the day. It contained Yohan Offredo (FDJ), Egor Silin (Katusha), Wouter Weylandt (Quick·Step), Sébastien Harbonnier (Continental Team Differdange), and Martin Reimer (Cervélo Test Team).
The break of the day moves through the rolling countryside.
As is usual, the break built up a respectable lead in the first half of the stage, only to be reeled in by the collective efforts of the peloton with 14km on the day.
The day had been hard for some, and it became clear the neither Casper or Jimmy Engoulvent would be strong enough to be a factor in the finish.
Any expectations for calm finish were ended with a lively attack by Sergueï Ivanov (Katusha) with 7km remaining.
Ivanov tries a late attack.
The Russian champion was strong in his move. He maintained his lead as he entered the final straight. However, Ivanov did not have the strength to beat the sprint trains pulling the peloton forward. He would caught less than a kilometer from the line.
Matteo Carrara (Vacansoleil) did a great job setting up Romain Feillu who had no equals on the day. The French sprinter would take the win, with his Italian lead out man crossing the line in 2nd.
Romain Feillu takes the win as Vacansoleil goes 1-2.
Stage Results:
