Not a good year for the time-trialling stage race riders is it.
If it was just this year...
The route is very good, but I'd replace the Solares-Noja stage, which most likely will end in a breakaway winning in front of a passive peloton, with a 45 km ITT. Then it'd be awesome, imo. |

Tour of Oman profiles now out, and Stage 4 certainly looks interesting. Its moved away from being a Qatar style race with an ITT, to more of a Langkawi style race

Looks very interesting.
Not sure if all the participating teams knew about this big changes before ;D
So obviously not just a easy start into the new season.

Thomas66 has made the stage for PCM, and although he does go up to the very top of the climb, when the race doesnt do so - the average for the whole climb is listed as 9% - and the climb is a fairly constant slope

wow, stage 4 looks beasty (or the end does at least), and that sprint point in the middle of stage 2 will kill off any sprinters going for victory methinks (unless it's a climber sprinter type like Hushovd) |

Even if it`s just ~6km, most parts with more than 10% is awesome
Last year there was an Eurosport broadcast of Oman so I am looking forward to it.

That's a hell of a climb at that point in the season. |

Could be a perfect route for LL Sanchez to bring Rabo a victory
Also, looking at a preliminary start list for Oman, the mountain stage there could be very interesting.

Volta ao Algarve has also been presented. Pretty much the same as the last few years, in terms of both field and stage profiles:
This year's main atraction will be who will succeed Contador in Algarve's throne.

Yeah, the only important difference at the Volta ao Algarve this year is that Contador isn't there so the rest of the field will have a chance for once.
(For the GC, I mean. He's been beaten in the mountain stage before)

According to a blog about cycling in Algarve, the broadcast was cancelled due to some misunderstandings with the sponsors.

The Tirreno starts with a TTT, ends with a 9.3km ITT
The rest of the route is a typical Tirreno.

Contador may not be on the race startlist, but theoretically, he may be back tomorrow |
