Peter Janssen, former team doctor at Vacansoleil, has released a book called 'Bloedvorm' which apparently "defends" EPO.
"If my son was a pro cyclist and was set to ride Giro d'Italia, I'd go with him and make to dose him with some EPO once in a while (...) I'd not advice him to use EPO, though." (say what? )
"Science doesn't agree with the 50 % haemotocrit level limit. All the stories about riders with a value above 60 % are correct, and they didn't die. I've had an amateur rider, who had a value above 60 %, in my clinic. He didn't want to stop using the products, because it had a huge effect on his results"
+ some comments about the Fleche Wallone 1994 podium and the "EPO World Championship" in 1996, claiming that the top 4 were all on EPO. His point is that EPO is extremely effective and not dangerous. |

I believe he said he would give his son EPO, because otherwise no human being could ride the a GT without being completely dead after three weeks. He also blamed the organizers for making their stage races to hard, if I remember well. |

Perhaps. I didn't read the original article, so I'm sure that some Belgians can elaborate on my post. |

Just discovered this from last month, but definitely worth posting.
Disgusting, horrible piece of riding by Jake Keough (UnitedHealthcare), as he deliberately takes out Rahsaan Bahati at the Dana Points Grand Prix
Go to 1.20 onwards

Absolutely disgusting, draws comparisons to Bos/Impey

it's not conclusive.
if he did it intentionally then he should be banned.
but there is also a chance he just lost his balance. When the Bos/Impey thing happened everyone immediately thought he did it on purpose but is was simply a case of him loosing balance and trying to grab onto the nearest thing to him instinctively. |

Let's not bring up the Impey/Bos thing again. Reaching out to grab onto something is balancing yourself. Then wildly flinging said thing is not balancing.
I'm inclined to believe it was intentional. Did seem to be a deliberate lead with the head, which would indicate a deliberate attempt to take someone out

he didn't fling him. he grabbed Impeys arm which caused impey to loose balance himself and vear left into the railings. thats how i saw it anyway.
why would bos pull Impey accross his own line and garantee to take himself out as well? If you want to take someone out you push them away from you.

I don't think anyone would do that on purpose unless you're a complete idiot. |

EDIT: By the way, I've not presented myself properly - I think Bos was more instinct than malice.
This one is different though

there is also a chance that the guy was just trying to change his line and didn't bother to look behind him. Happens all the time in my races and half the field can come down.
i would have thought that it wouldn't happen so much at that level but i guess everyone has a moment of madness sometimes.
the crash is without doubt the healthnet guys fault. but i don't think you can say with 100% certainty that he did it on purpose. |

Bringing it back to Bahati, there was another video at the time which showed the actual crash. And Bahati's response a lap later amused me.
He was out of the race by this point, but ran out into the road, and threw a water bottle at one of the riders from the United HealthCare team.

I watched the replay several times when that happened. And even if it's difficult to say it was on purpose, that manouver was retarded. There were a lot of laps left, so it wasn't even a battle for the sprint.

It was sunglasses, not a bottle, which was thrown by bahati.

Linus Gerdemann wants to be totally transparent during and before Tour de France. He says his hotel room is supposed to be like a prison. He is not allowed to leave or enter the room without being controlled everywhere. He can be followed anytime to any place. He is asking the public television for controlling him more than a rider was controlled ever before.
It is supposed to be during the tour and a few weeks before, date isn`t known yet.
He want to prove that it is possible to ride the Tour de France without doping.
Therefore he is looking for sponsors who finance this project.

Is he admitting doping before then?

No he says he never doped, but a few "experts" are saying that it is impossible to ride a race like the Tour with that speed without doping. Even the last one has to dope.
So Gerdemann wanna prove that it is possible.
The reason why it starts a few weeks before and not today or a few years ago is that it is quite expensive.
The main thing is to prove it within the Tour then all the other races are possible aswell. |
