Giro d'Italia Stage 20
img684.imageshack.us/img684/7536/giro20profile.jpg

Sorry Guys, I tried palying this stage 5 times but each time it crashed with 1km left so I had to sim the stage. This would have been the stage where I let Hesjedal go in the break but I couldn't. The only important news is the VDV finished with the same time as Wiggins.

Giro d'ItaliaaStage 21
img714.imageshack.us/img714/5640/giro21profile.jpg
This is the final stage. We likely won't get back the time on Wiggins but its worth a shot as 2nd for Vande Velde is a lock. Today I will go out and give time-checks and such back as info to Christian so he gets the best ride possible.

img375.imageshack.us/img375/9587/giro21millar.jpg
David Millar. He had a good run today and finished the stage in a great position. 8th.

img14.imageshack.us/img14/427/giro21hesjedal.jpg
Now it was my turn. I rode my fastest and it was a fairly straight forward course. I finished the day with +58.

img249.imageshack.us/img249/566/giro21vdv.jpg
Now Vande Velde is out. He was riding strong throughout the stage but was it enough?

img72.imageshack.us/img72/7672/giro21wiggo.jpg
WWell Wiggins rode very strong and in the end it was too much for VDV. Wiggins even won the stage.Congrats to him.

Garmin Blog
Now here I was sitting in the team HQ in Girona, Spain when the team techies told me I should write my own section on how the Giro 'dItalia went through my eyes. First off I thought that the team did very well for its 2nd year at the Giro. We certainly did better than Rabobank did as they didn't get a win at the Giro until several years after their first. I think that the race was filled with its ups, and its downs. You know, we really wanted to get Christian the Overall win but obviously Wiggins was stronger than we expected. This time last year Wiggins and Vande Velde were both riding for Garmin.
farm4.static.flickr.com/3467/3746895342_6f48e81250.jpg
But now as Bradley left for his new British squad Sky they have been rivals.
[img-l]https://img.skysports.com/10/02/640/Bradley_2423881.jpg[/img-l][img-r]https://cdn.media.cyclingnews.com/2009/06/19/1/tds09st5007cristainvandevelde_600.jpg[/img-r]

Bradley Wiggins was very tough to race against and in the end he proved that he was slightly stronger than his former team-mate and took the Giro Overall. I think that the many stage wins by Christian was definately a bonus as that was very exciting to watch and it also helped him get such a great position in every category when everything was said and done. I think if Cadel Evans didn't already have the nickname "The Bridesmade" that Vande Velde would get that name because he finished 2nd in every category he was eligible for. I think my own riding in the Giro was good but not great. There was 2 stages that the team wanted me to get in the break but I didn't succeed onm either occasion. I thought my best area was when I was in front blocking the wind for Christian. Most days I set him up well for a good finish and he didn't disapoint. My TTing was par.

islandsportsnews.net/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/Ryder-Hesjedal_2359166.jpg

I think the most major "down" of this whole Giro was the fact that Farrar and Maaskant produced 0 results. I hate to call out my own team-mates as they rode very well and helped us out when it was needed of them but Maaskant was our main breakaway rider and also played a significant role in the sprint train. Farrar had a abismal Giro with 0 wins when it was expected to annihilate all opponents in the sprint. JV has discussed everything with the team as of now about how he felt it went and we all are proud in our own way on whatever that may be. That is how I felt it went. Now some 2 weeks of no racing should be nice. Hanging and training with the Boys should be nice. Bye.

F*** wiggins!
Anyway you did a great job, good luck for the next race

Thanks. Wiggins was just too hard to beat. I'm happy with 2nd. Going into the Giro I expected a 5th in the GC so 2nd is icing on the Cake.

Today I went on a team training ride. We had a quick debreif on who may be riding the Tour. Vaughters and Matt White told us that we would be receiving a call telling us whether we "were in" or not. Later that day I went on a short ride to check out some more scenery when I received the call.
-"Hello"
- "Hi this is John I called because I want to congragulate you for being picked to ride this years Tour de France."
- "Really, thats fantastic'
- "Yeah felt that we needed you as a super domestique for Christian. We think that you can be of great assistance to our team and not only that but you'd be great for breakaway stages too"
- "Thanks. I accept the offer"
End of Call

I was wondering who else made the team for the tour. Heres my guess:
VandeVelde
Farrar
Dean
Millar
Zabriskie
C. Meyer
Me
Hunter
Van Summeren.

Tyler Farrar rode strong today.

3..2..1.. Beep. I went off the ramp and rode hard. But not too hard. There was no time-checks on course so it was tough to tell if I was riding well. I crossed the line a mere 3 seconds behind Sebastien Lang of the Lotto team. I knew I rode well enough.

Ster Elektrotoer Stage 2
img338.imageshack.us/img338/4654/star2profile.jpg
This is a very important stage for us. IF Martijn or I is going to win the Overall we need to have a good day today.

img4.imageshack.us/img4/7744/star2break.jpg
This is todays break. There is many riders here but a few dropped off after 10-15kms after the break was initiated. The Garmin rider is Peter Stetina.

img193.imageshack.us/img193/1043/star2break2.jpg
Stetina is now ramping up the pace at the foot of the last climb. Another rider tries to go around him and does.

img4.imageshack.us/img4/5889/star2attack.jpg
Now back to the peloton Hoogerland and Vanendert start on the offensive. Everything is happening in these last few km's!

img203.imageshack.us/img203/3851/star2hesjedal.jpg
After missing the first move with Hoogerland and Vanendert Vermeltfoort attacks and this time I am able to follow his wheel which takes me up to the leaders group.

img704.imageshack.us/img704/3425/star2sprint.jpg
With 3km left the sprint starts. I was in a fairly good spot but I was lacking the energy to get the win. But all I needed was 3s on Lang to get the Leaders jersey.

img339.imageshack.us/img339/3108/star2sprint2.jpg
With 600m left Roe is still in the lead. Cataldo is also ahead of me.

img40.imageshack.us/img40/3407/star2winner.jpg
Roe gets the easy win as everyone else in the group was toast.

Sorry the game crashed before the replay. Basically all the favourties attacked without Hesjedal. He had to make up ground with 20km left. Over that distance he made it up. Then in the sprint he pulled away from the group. Unfortunatley a BOTD rider was still left ahead and he won.

Ster Elektrotoer Stage 4 Final
img522.imageshack.us/img522/5167/star4profile.jpg

Unfortunately the game crashed before the replay. But luckily I took pics during the race. Basically a break of 6 riders got away. The gap grew to 12 minutes and with 40km left it was still 6 minutes. At 10km everyone knew the break was going to win. The only question was by how much? They needed 3 minutes on Hesjedal to get the overall win. We worked hard to pull them back and then as we started to fall back after the hard pace work at the front, no one else wanted to help out.

img580.imageshack.us/img580/9089/star4winner.jpg
Heres the break getting the win. The even got enough for the GC win. I am very mad at the other teams for not helping out.

Can i ask you were you got the database with the new teams for pcm 08?

I used the Camerluca SP V1.5 and I just changed the names of the teams and did the transfers by myself. I added jerseys, overwrote some equipment with nicer versions. Its not very good but it gets the job done.

Today I was given the Startlist for the Tour de France. After looking at the list I think that every team has a shot at winning the race except the French Teams and Footon-Servetto. I think the Saxo Bank, Astana, Radioshack, and Caisse all have very strong teams for the mountains while Sky, Milram, Katusha, HTC, QuickStep, and Cervelo have very good sprinting teams. Our squad is fairly decent overall but isn't the best at any discipline. We like that though going into the race as now we have the chance at surprising the Peloton at how good we will perform.

Strong start-list. Good luck Wink

Thanks. I will need it. It is a very strong Startlist but that is good. I dont think its ever been this deep of a startlist before.
BTW I wont be posting as much as the snow is off the ground now and there are way more fun things to do outside. Plus I got exams in 2 weeks so I've been studying for those.
