That would explain why so many riders suffer from mononucleosis during their career... |

Now that's another reason I'm suspicious of everything! I always thought it was shocking the amount of riders who suffered from it.

Not exactly news. It's been know for years. But yeah, there's been a metric ton of mononucleosis cases in the past two years. Mollema, Vermeltfoort, Reus (see a pattern yet?) Rogers, Cunego, Deignan, Wurf, de Ketele.
And a ton more I'm surely forgetting right now.

Probably half the peloton had it by now.
It's also a contagious disease (it's known as the kissing disease), so maybe the pro peloton is full of gay? |

Before everyone uses this as evidence:
a) people stay infectious 18 months after the symptom has gone.
b) any spit that comes out of a cyclists mouth while racing will in all likelihood hit another cyclist.
which given how much time cyclist spend together means that if one rider gets it then plenty of others probably will as well.

Most people are aware that it's highly 'spreading', so of course, this is not evidence.
But it does make you wonder, kinda like the thing with the riders all having asthma... |

judging by comments and name does this mean we finally have a woman on the forum?
Uh, yeah. Though the gender has little to do with the comments. I just find it rather incredulous that the UCI programs their new Canadian races at the same time as the women's world cup, knowing very well that if the organisers have to choose they'll pick the ones which bring in more money. |

Meh, stupid article.
If Contador already beats him in a time trial in Tour form. How the feck is Cancellara ever going to compete if he slims down and loses some power on the flat?
He'll maybe be 3rd/4th best climber but also 3rd/4th best time trialler and still lose to Contador.
And that's looking at this positively.
Forget it Canc. Just focus on Liege and Lombardy, then we'll see
cancellara in top form >>>>>> contador in top form in any race that doesnt involve lots of climbing. i think if cancellara slimmed down he would probably still be at least as good, if not better than contador. he'd struggle to stay with contador's accelerations in the mountains, but if he could get into a rythm and time trial his way to the top i dont think he'd lose too much time. of course wether he wants to devote his entire season to becoming a gt rider or not is a completely different matter
Cancellara WILL lose power if he loses weight! And the last TT in the tour last year showed that he doesn't have the recuperation to compete in a GT.
yes, he will lose power. he'll still be stronger than 99% of the pro peleton though. it all depends on how much weight he needs to lose to be competitive in the mountains. and the last TT in the tour last year proves nothing, he beat the majority of the peleton by over a minute, and was only beaten by an already strong time trialler who had based his whole season around the final week of the tour. if he did aim at a gt, who knows how well he'd recuperate? |

completely agree, womens racing has never really had parity with men's although the track is helping. it's just a joke from one of the old threads

Call me gay, but I don't care in the slightest.
On to actual news.
Kirchen is doubtful for the Ardennes with a saddle sore.
The mountain stage of California has been re-routed to include more climbing.
