After a great result in Omloop Het Nieuwsblad we stay in Belgium for another cobbled classic. This time it looks to be even easier for Flecha and Hagen since their main opponents are De Waele, Rosseler, Vatikus, Goss and Barredo.
A breakaway of 3 riders went clear from the very first meters of the race but again there were no cobbles specialists there and it had no chance again the pack
On the last cobbled hill of the day, Flecha took the lead of the pack which spread the riders one by one on the road. Only a few Landbouwkrediet and Topsport Vlaanderen riders were strong enough to keep it up with our leader, while Boasson Hagen was caught in the second group, which was lead by a few Quick Step riders
Hagen managed to join the leading group on the long flat section that followed the climb, bringing Barredo with him. And we saw quite a large group entering the last 10 kilometers of the race in the lead
Ten kilometers before the finish, Flecha made what looked like being the decisive attack as only Scheirlinckx was able to keep it up with him
But only a few moments after that the bad luck stroke again for Flecha, who went down. This definitely not looking good for Juan Antonio, 2 crashes in a row, as he also had some problems yesterday...
Joseph and Vandewalle were trying to follow the Sky rider but they didn't pay attention in the corner than Flecha went down, they hit his bike and went down as well
Flecha got back on his bike but it was too late as all the riders, except the 2 Belgians that crashed, had passed him
After the Spaniard's fall, Scheirlinckx took the lead and entered first the last kilometer of the race. He was followed by Van Hecke, De Waele and Boasson Hagen
Nobody was able to catch the Landbouwkrediet rider and he sprinted to an amazing and luck win. Van Hecke and de Waele took the next places on the podium, while Boasson Hagen missed a nice chance to take his 5th win this season as he worked for Flecha, but it all came to nothing in the end. After getting back on his bike, Flecha wasn't able to win any of the lost places and he finished 9th

After the big names didn't show up in the northen classics, the puncheurs came for GP di Lugano. Gerrans will have to face here riders like Valverde, Cunego, Nocentini or Gilbert
Kennaugh was the first attacker of the day. He was joined in the main breakaway by big names: Horner, Benitez, Martin, Martinez and Masciarelli. But the others were way too strong for the Brit, who was dropped off from the group with just 30 kilometers before the finish
With 15 kilometers to go, on the penultimate climb of the race, Gilbert attacked and managed to catch the breakaway group quite quickly. This is looking like a good move from the ex-Francaise des Jeux rider as they have an advantage of more than one minute over the pack
On the downhill, Perez Arrieta came pretty fast from the pack and managed to join the breakaway group and Gilbert. They still have one ascent to climb, then it's downhill all the way to the finish
At the top of the last climb of the day, Gerrans attacked from the pack and managed to join the breakaway group, bringing Jufre with him as well. Behind them, Nocentini and Paulinho also attacked put they aren't as fast as the Sky and the Astana rider
Still Gerrans made his move a little bit too late as Gilbert, Horner, Masciarelli and Perez Arrieta had left the breakaway group and went on the downhill to fight in 4 for the win
Simon took some risks on the downhill and managed to joined them but it was a little bit too late to count in the battle for the first place...
Perez Arrieta dominated the sprint and when he looked behind he was quite surprised to see Gilbert and the others meters behind him which means that he is the winner of GP di Luga, a great win for Footon Servetto. Gilbert finished behind Arrieta to take an another second place in just 2 days, while Gerrans sprinted for the third spot

Rider of the month - February: Edvald Boasson Hagen
[img-r]https://i818.photobucket.com/albums/zz110/sky_story/edvaldboassonhagen-1.png[/img-r]After winning this award last month, Christ Sutton had an another great result by getting the overall win in Tour of Qatar. Still that was his only race in February so he couldn't get any other results. So our new rider of the month award goes to Edvald Boasson Hagen.
Hagen started his season in Qatar, being part of the team that won the opening TTT. He helped Sutton take the overall win and even got some nice results for himself, finishing 3rd overall. His next race was Vuelta a Andalucia where he clearly dominated the sprints with the help of Flecha and Vigano. He got 3 stage wins in Spain, 2 in mass sprints and one after a successful attack in the last meters of the stage. In the overall rankings he finished 2nd behind Valverde, but he was first in the points and young classifications.
Then he continued his amazing results in this start of the season, by winning Omloop Het Nieuwsblad after riding all by himself in the last 70 kilometers of the race. In Kuurne - Bruxelles - Kuurne Boasson Hagen rode almost the whole race for Flecha, but still finished as Sky's highest placed rider, after Flecha went down in the final kilometers, while he was leading the race.
In other news, this month we saw some changes in our team. Kurt - Asle Arvesen is 35 years old and his glory days seem to be over as lost some of his climbing and time - trialing abilities. On the other hand, one of our young guns, Ben Swift saw his sprinting skills going higher after winning a mass sprint in Etoile de Besseges. If the Brit continues like this for the rest of the season, we might see him riding the Tour de France.
March Calendar:
March is the first real busy month of the year in terms of cycling. After the Santos Tour Down Under, the Pro Tour continues with 5 more races: Paris - Nice, Tirreno - Adriatico, Milano - Sanremo, where we hope to achieve our first season goal, Volta a Catalunya and Gent - Wevelgem, and as a Pro Tour team we are going to ride all those races.
From the Continental ones we will start the month of March in Spain, where we will be riding the Vuelta a Murcia. It's a race with one time - trial and one medium mountain stage so it's one made for Lovkvist and his early preparation for Vuelta a Espana. Flecha, Vigano and Henderson are also expected to ride there.
One day before the start of Paris - Nice, Strade Bianche is going to be held in Italy. The race known in the past as Monte Paschi Eroica, was won last year by Thomas Lovkvist, while the Swede was riding for Columbia, but this year it will be impossible for him to defend his title as he will be in Spain, for Vuelta a Murcia. Edvald Boasson Hagen it's most likely to be our leader for this race.
Only a few days before Gent - Wevelgem, Flecha and co. will be riding Dwars Door Vlaanderen and E3 Prijs in their final preparation for the first Pro Tour cobbled race of the year.
Our Continental races in March will end with the Criterium International. Wiggins, Gerrans, Hagen and Swift are on our preliminary list for the French race.

A few big names are present in Vuelta a Murcia this year such as Andy Schleck, Sastre, Efimkin and Brajkovic. But they will all have to gain some time in the mountain stage as Lovkvist seems to be the strongest time - trialist from the favorites. In the opening stage we will probably have a mass sprint, but if some good stage - racers came here we can't say the same thing about the sprinter as the main oppenents for the duo Sky (Vigano and Henderson) seem to be Barbosa, Bos, Leezer and Vicioso
A breakaway of 3 riders went clear today but even though at some point they had an advantage of over one minute they didn't managed to beat the pack today. And we are now heading to a mass sprint where Sky seem to be controlling the things with Flecha. But the bad news is that Barbosa got in our splipstream and he is following Henderson's wheel
Inside the last kilometer after an amazing lead for the Sky train, Henderson has failed to launch himself from Vigano's wheel and the Italian is still in the lead. But the bad news for us is that Barbosa isn't far away from taking the lead
In the last meters of the stage, Theo Bos came really strong, after he didn't manage to get a good position at the beginning of the sprint...
But it was too late for the Dutch to make anything and Barbosa takes the opening stage in Murcia. Both Vigano and Henderson failed to get a place on the podium today as Vicioso finished third

yeah a little bit. I attacked at the top of the climb and continued on the downhill but not for too long. Gerrans didn't have the energy to go for a long attack anyway but he somehow managed to join the group when they slowed down for than corner
