The ARD commentators are finding it suspicious that Voigt did so well on yesterday's stage.

yes, everyone was also suspicious last year.

Voigt says the win last year turned out to be the worst time of his life because he was in the form of his life and instead of enjoying it he had to explain it away

This is became a trend..to be suspicious and looking conspiracy theory. I have to give a point for eurosport commentators..they still talking about cycling.

Peter Riis was leading the Mountan Biker's Tour de France, but has now been "pulled out" by DCU. According to their rules, you can't be chosen for the national team if you don't compete in the Danish Championships, and since the Danish Mountain Bike Championship is going on during the "Tour de France", he had to leave.

Oh, and the guy who "hacked" Michael Rasmussen's e-mail account (and also the guy who knows the truth about what really happened in France) has been released.

i think Slipstream will go pro tour, they have such a strong squad for next year.

Plus i might pick up a slipstream jersey, looks nice.
And a disco one. Should be able to pick a cheap one up. 2007's disco jersey looks quite nice

You and I seem to be the only ones who like Slipstream's Jersey DoddyPfft

Disco jersey is awesome, and so is the helmet, and the caps...Unfortunately, it's not that easy to find it here in Portugal...

yea, the jersey is nice and unique, however i hope the UCI doesn't replace more than one spot (assuming Astana loose thiers),so the Pro Tour is down to 18, and hopefully the ASO and co. will settle for that and we don't have another Unibet fiasco.

It seems the ASO is doing what they said: racing with country teams. This years Tour de l'Avenir will be raced with 22 teams (all containing 6 riders) from 21 countries, and of course those bloody french have 2 teams...

I got this from the tour de france website:

A desire to break away…

International cycling in 2007 is particularly disposed to globe-trotting… a desire to break away… to take a trip to an island…

The Tour de France has selected Great Britain and London for the Start of the 94th edition of the race. Prior to this on the calendar, the Tour d'Italie was launched from Sardinia, and the Tour de Bretagne from Jersey! A… quartet: on the 6th of September the 44th edition of the Tour de l'Avenir will set off from Belle-Île-en-Mer. With a first stage that will travel through the four towns on the island: Le Palais, Bangor, Locmaria and Sauzon.

This 44th edition of the Tour de l'Avenir will also include a number of innovations:

- National teams will be at the start. In total, 21 countries will be represented by teams of 6 riders, with two French teams in the line-up.
- Riders must be under 23 years old: 19 to 22 years included.
- The race is one of 7 competitions on the calendar of the Nations Cup. This trophy, attributed for the first time by the U.C.I., will be awarded to the winning nation at the end of the Tour de l'Avenir.

This heralds a dynamic race, with lots of action and an abundance of attacks right the way through the 1.436,5 kilometres and 10 stages which will take us to Saint-Flour and the final finish, judged on Saturday the 15th of September.

Here the name of the winner of this 44th edition will be revealed, the successor to the Spaniard Moises Duenas Nevado, but also to prestigious champions, riders who triumphed in both the Tour de l'Avenir and the Tour de France: Felice Gimondi, Joop Zoetemelk, Greg LeMond, Miguel Indurain and Laurent Fignon.

the Tour de l'Avenir has always had national teams.

it's an under-23 or under-26 race, so it's usually hard to find enough competitive teams. (not sure about the age cutoff)

so every year there are always quite a few national teams.

- The pharmaceuticals firm, Stada, has decided to end its sponsorship with the German national team. They have declared that they don't feel they get any profit from the sponsorship. But unofficially, it's probably due to the fact that they launch a new EPO-product next year Grin

- Unibet.com has launched an attack on UCI, saying that McQuaid is not powerful enough to lead the sport.

- Cycling4all.com has decided to close. The owner, Wim van Rossum, has lost any hope in the sport. You can read his "conclusion" here: https://www.cycling4all.com/

- McEwen wants to participate in Vuelta a Espana and is disappointed, because he hasn't been selected for the tour.

I don't feel well about Cycling 4all.com closing, but the guy spells "Than" when it should read "Then". He had it coming.
