Yes, it gives them an excuse to drink beer and party while watching sports..
Just like the Brits then, World Cup = Drink, drink, drink, day off work |

Some nice round of 16 games. Some good all-South American ties which should be good, and Costa Rica vs Greece should be fun

So you're saying that you don't deserve to support your team because you don't know much about them, and now you're going to root for Mexico, Greece or Switzerland which (I assume) you know less about?
Just kidding mate, you can root for whoever the hell you want, and don't bother yourself thinking you don't deserve this or that. If supporting your team excites you, then do it. It'll probably lead you to pay more attention to them in the future.
Here's the deal though. Of the limited football I follow, I do it on a top down basis, not on a per country basis
And "deserve" is quite an awkward word to use. I just don't all of a sudden go crazy. Not that it would be a bad thing if USA advance.

Big thanks to jdog for making this AMAZING userbar!

Huh, Suarez isn't allowed to play tonight? I thought if Uruguay appeal the ban, they can't ban him till that has been dealt with?

*Someone with refereeing degree speaking*
Red card = Automatic 1 match ban, unless the commitee has acquitted the red card

While on another side I'd like Chile to get through, I'd really like to see Neymar scoring and Brazil going to 1/4 finals, mainly because they'll have more chances for getting to semis or even final, why not.
Call me idiot, but with 4 goals scored already and most likely few more in this WC, Neymar has a great chance of becoming best WC scorer of all time (in around 10-12 years).

Brazil and Chile are also the teams that have feigned injury the most in the group stages according to official data |

Bravo is an amazing goalkeeper! He can easily be first goalkeeper in Barca next year. What a freakin' legend.

+1. A pity he's already 30+. Not that it's a big problem for a GK though |

Some extra experience for Ter Stegen and few additional goalie tricks cannot hurt, in my opinion.

Well here in Belgium it's quite hard to follow soccer in other competitions, at least for me, so I don't know a lot about ter Stegen.
I think ter Stegen is a solid GK, otherwise Barça wouldn't sign him. But looking at Bravo's performances at the WC so far, he could even be a better GK atm, correct me if I'm wrong.
And of course a few GK tricks / risks can add lustre to the already beautiful game soccer is |
