Gilbert wins Belgian championship TT ...

the opposition is piss poor tho, half of them out of shape and not even pure time trial specialists..

Belgian ITT has taken a level down the last few years. Only de Gendt in TDF was really good ITT

De Gendt only finished 5th. Monfort 10th, Devolder 12th. What a weird result. All guys who'd you expect to be faster than Gilbert.

I don´t really get why the TT championships are in August and not a few days before the road championships as it is in many other countries.

Actually I don't know the exact reasons, nor if it's been held at this date for a long while, but when I was a kid, World Championships would be hold next week or something (3rd week-end of August, if memory serves), so it made sense to hold the Nationals ITT there to know which riders to pick for the ITT, and base yourself on TDF and San Sebastian results to know which riders to pick for the road race.

Provided that was the logic behind the date, they could or should have changed it in 1995, when they moved the World's to October.

Any of the north german or maybe danish people is going to be in Hamburg on sunday?
I'm going to be at the Waseberg again. The TV-screen, the atmosphere and the 4 passages are worth it for a nice sunday trip to Hamburg. Think this time i'll take my bike with me.

No time unfortunately, although it would be just about 200km from here atm.
Have fun there, I will follow as much as possible in the broadcast.

Davide Rebellin won the Trofeo Melinda. Man, he's 40, and still winning and finishing on the podium on several races. He was my favourite when I first started watching cycling, and he still keeps the same level from several years ago. Impressive.

Impressive in what way? We all know where his former level came from...

kumazan
Same level? He used to win big classics and now he's won the Trofeo Melinda and the Tre Valli Varesine (where he wheelsucked Pozzovivo). He's nowhere near his old level.
