Great day for Liquigas. Win for Nibali, Basso staying relaxed for the last many km.
Not sure why Basso was pushing the pace there in the end, though- |

Doesn't Arroyo get Pink?
Edit: Excuse only if Porte loses enough time.

Great ride for Nibali. And Basso's sprint (!) puts the icing on the cake for Liquigas.
Sastre group at about 2'25 |

Well done Nibali.
Technically beautiful. Tactically questionable.
Unless, of course, they're truly going all-out for Basso. In which case the tactics were fine as well. |

Great stage today.
Liquigas (Basso and Nibali are my favorites in this Giro) takes an 1-2, Vino loses time and Mollema finishes in the same group with Sastre, Arroyo Wiggins and Cunego.

That was an interesting stage. Nibali really won time on that downhill section. Something he won't have tomorrow.
As for Vino, well same thing really, except he lost more time uphill.

scarponi and basso seeemed to be the stongest in the ascent today. evans hasn't relayed much and lost a few meters at the kom sign (maybe intentionally).
great descent by nibali, savoldelli was following him on the motorbike for the italian tv, he told they traned together during the spring and nibali was able to follow him on downhills.

Yeh, the descent disguised the results at the finish somewhat, in terms of strength on the climb, so bring on Zoncolan tomorrow for the real test

Interesting one lots of tactics as well as great riding.
Liquigas did what they had to do which is take the race up - significantly putting time into Vinokourov and all those riders like Sastre, Tondo, Wiggins, Gerdemann and Arroyo who got that time the other day. Those riders got a minute back in that last section which keeps things interesting.
How much this takes out of them, Nibali looked pretty tired at the end there and was certainly fading in the finale. Scarponi was impressive also today, Evans clearly in desperate clinging on mode but nethertheless will feel its job done. You still get the feeling that Evans and Vino are going to suffer from lack of teammates.
Tomorrow is going to be fascinating - its the inverese of last years Vuelta in which days like tomorrow became defensive. The other riders have to attack here - I have no idea how its going to go down should be great viewing tomorrow. |

With the Zoncolan tommorrow, that couldn't have worked out much better for Basso. |
