USA are dependant on their team work, Netherlands on Robben thats a difference, USA defends good so please don't think just because Germany draw 2-2 with Ghana that they are a superpower now. They aren't but looked good because Germany defends shit when they lost the ball at the opponents half.
Poland are poor, Turkey even more with Serbia, Ukraine also not good = they don't deserve a place at a World Cup.
Otherwise for European supremacy there are the Euros where those teams you named haven't even qualified for the 2012 Euros (I mean even Ireland had qualified!) or weren't there on merit (hosts) and were knocked out in the group phase (Poland and Ukraine).
Also there are differences between USA and Canada:
Money: US Dollar = $$$ - Canada: Canadian Dollar and plastic money that can't be taken seriously
Army: US Army = you don't want to have a problem with them - Canadian Army = a horse with a helmet
Weather: USA = in summer pretty much everywhere very hot - Canada: T-Shirt weather = 10°C
And at last please don't count countless of young players of any nation as a sign they have a future. Too many of them will be just decent and not the next Messi as they are normally praised nowadays.

I agree with all of your points, Dark, except the one that Serbia lacks young players. Actually, that was true, until maybe 2-3 years ago. We're now, as I already said, in some kind of "reconstruction" where bunch of new world-class talents are appearing and some oldies are retiring (such as Stankovic, Vidic). European U21 title (last year) is enough, I guess.
So, we're finally starting to have some bright future, it seems!
I meant the manager didn't give them a chance. |

And this tells what? My point was that Valverde would of course support USA over any other country, because they're border and neigbhor countries, just as I supported Bosnia & Croatia, which is absolutely normal.

Admir, how could Valverde be nationalistically bias towards the USA? That literally makes no sense.

Did I watch the same games as you, or you are just being nationalistically (not right word, more like continentaly) biased?
Not sure if it's the right word, but he's, as a Canadian, definitely more connected to USA than to Serbia, so that makes him a bit biased, too. He showed that few times in this thread, already.
valverde321 wrote:
Plus according to Admir, you aren't allowed to watch your team on TV because then you aren't an actual fan so we probably shouldn't care about that
I never said that Valverde, stop modifying words/sentences and therefore totally changing their meaning.
USA and Canada are each others biggest rivals in many sports, and the USA has actually stolen players from Canada in the past. I am a fan of underdogs and I happen to know quite a lot about the USA simply because I have followed a lot of MLS. I also hate Mexico
At the end of the match, the only stat that actually matters is goals. People forget that all the time.

Yeah but America's money doesn't smell like Maple, therefore Canada > USA

Winning a -21 doesn't mean too much actually. If you look at the Dutch team that won in 2007, you'll see only none of them play for the current main team. From 2006 only 2 play for the current team.

Entertaining read so far guys.
Just one question, I'm I allowed to cheer for Mexico against the Netherlands? Or is that against fandom rules...

Obviously, you are not allowed to cheer for Mexico against the Netherlands.
You'd only get disapponted anyway.

normally I would say yes, that's allowed since you always should cheer against The Netherlands but I'm not really found of Mexico either. |

Yes, thankfully, the manager that made Serbian U21 squad win European championships is now the manager of our main squad and he's already giving minutes to these youngsters, which is a great sign.

A talent that is Liverpool's main priority and that's going to be paid around 35 million euros + many others from this generation that are going to be beasts in future are not just standard talents, but European U21 winners.
Of course that none of them are most likely going to be next Messi, but if all of them gets to 1/4 of Messi's level, then I am afraid Serbia will have one really competetive team in recent future. Even trying to compare them (their future level) to Messi is going from one extreme to another, really.

True, but most of them simply kept playing in Eredivisie or gone directly to big teams, which are both big mistakes. Unlike them, young Serbians are all around the world, mostly playing in some solid teams that are constantly in Europe and they have great chance of showing themselves there. Case of Real Madrid paying much more for Ljajic than Roma, but he goes with Roma or Chelsea wanted Matic/Markovic 2 years ago, but they gone to Benfica firstly and had some great seasons and games there tells the story.

Most players didn't head for big teams. IIRC Zuiverloon signed for West Brom, Castelen for HSV, Maduro for Valencia, all of which seem to be a step up, but not to the absolute top.

What was Defour thinking?
Also, such a huge miss from Mertens earlier, it was hard to fail that goal. |

That's it, 9/9. Still 3 embarrassing performances IMO.
