Other Races 2012

Nice job by Matty there. And some bad news to those who betted for LP Nordhaug to win the overall here. Unfortunately he was replaced by Alex Dowsett ( his first race after breaking his elbow in March ) due to fever. He should be ready for Suiise though.

Just let him train a bit more with Julich. Next you'll hear from him is that he's crashed into an old Soviet satellite. Who needs gynecologists these days? Pfft

Engoulvent? I didn't think he was very good of a time trialist?

Certainly one of the best prologue riders around, not the first time he was so good in it, in very short prologues he excels Wink
I'll be back

Greipel continues to win in Luxemburg.

Meanwhile, in something I'd laugh at for being unrealistic if it was in PCM, Valverde will ride the Tour de Suisse
The preceding post is ISSO 9001 certified

Real life is definitely bugged this year.

Greipel is quite the sprinter.

Alakagom
In shit small races... Pfft

He beat amazing Davide Appollonio for 2nd. Like Appo isn't bad, but is still a 3rd tier sprinter.

That's true. But it isn't that Greipel can 't outsprint the best, he's just not aggressive enough in positioning himself, imo. He has the speed and the strength for beating Cavendish (I'm not saying every race, but he can beat him, I think) or Goss.

Yeah, this is his problem. He's always whining like a bitch about how he would have won but for positioning or something of the like - that's all part of sprinting, it's not just who's the quickest. If he ever wants to get on Cav's level, he has to sort out his positioning in the bunch.

Couldn't agree more. (except for the whining like... - part Pfft)
It is part of sprinting, but he's doing something about it, a mental coach I believe.

he's as good as Cavendish with a (good)leadout train, but without one, he isnt going to challenge him, or the other top level sprinters for that matter

Or get a strong team to pull him all the way to the last 200 meters... Lotto is not as strong as Sky, and they've got GC-riders to protect too in most races.
