Still WAAAY to early to say anything. Menchov is still in the run, and his TT is as good as Contador's... Di Luca and Ricco is faster in a sprint, so they can possibly get bonus seconds aswell, I wouldn't claim anything at all yet. Still 5-6 riders in this race who can win... |

Yeah the individual time trial right? That's exactly what my point was. Ricco, Di Luca and Simoni (or Menchov and Bruseghin for that matter) can't gain enough time on Contador before the penultimate stage, wher he will most likely take a lot of time on each and everyone of them (maybe not on Bruseghin, but he looks to be the weakest climber of the favourites right now).
no, tt is last stage, penultimate stage takes in gavia, mortirolo and I think another climb. A real chance for the climbers to do some damage.

I just can't see how those 5 or 6 riders can get rid of Contador enough to feel secure before the final stage.
@ wackojacko: You mean this one then:
Well with not having a mountain top finish and with the steepest and decisive climb topping 50 kilometres from the finish I don't see the Italians gaining anything at all on Contador, maybe some boni seconds, but the tendency so far is that a breakaway takes those.

Well all it takes is one off-day... If Contador takes a stage like Klöden today then he's gone... |

Yup but that goes for Ricco, Di Luca and Simoni too, and even more for them as they're poor time trialists.
Point being, I'm 98% sure Contador will win this Giro, but I'll get seriously owned in here if he doesn't.

yeah
i don't know but surely a ricco or someone like that will go on the mortirolo - unless they have a significant gap already

Well, Contador was dropped today with 50 km to go on such a mountain, so it would be worth a try. What do you think of Pozzovivo? He really impressed today and was strong already yesterday. Pity he's already 4 mins behind...

I was wondering if we were going to see anything to Pozzovivo, as I have never really seen him ride real life (mostly my knowledge of him is PCM based ), so it was very nice to see him ride away from all the favourites today. Surely he could win the Giro in years to come. This year he could be in for a shout on one of the next mountain stages.

You know what the good thing about teams like CSF Group Navigare is?
They are so incredibly obviously doped that they make all the other teams look like they are clean. (yeah, right... )
Does this forum have a seperate "official" doping thread or something? Judging by all the talk in here it certainly looks like if it needs one... that way these threads might actually be about discussing who`s winning and not who`s doped or not. |

this wasn't "a stage" by Kloden. this is the level he's really at.
And if anyone is looking for a reason, his statements very strongly hint at something |

jokes aside, he's been insisting pretty heavily that he's too afraid of "a false positive. being tested positive despite being clean".
He also says the UCI is clearly after him, because he's been tested 22 times this year.
keep in mind the UCI estimated the number of tests on a rider on "the list" (the one with the top50 riders in the world, who therefore are subject to more testing) on 3-5 per rider per year. he's been tested 22 times, so I'd say he's right, the UCI is desperately trying to nab him for the smallest thing.
22 times and it's not even June yet
And he's exhibiting the common trait of someone clean: typical performance in a time trial, crap on the climbs. He's climbing like crap despite the fact that he has much more powerful legs than any other rider on this Giro and that he weighs almost the same as the top GC contenders.

I have a feeling that a lot of people here wants a seperate doping thread, so maybe we should start one and place this talk there |

A doping thread is pointless, because all the talks about doping are spontaneous. Everyone will simply ignore the doping thread, and carry on in other threads

i like to assume that every rider is clean, but at today's stage navigare made me remember a lot of la/mss, because on the final climb they were with 5 riders between the topCG riders
sella was on the longest breakaways and still gain time to fresh riders
baliani is riding madly on the last stages
the first time you heard cuapio, he finishs quite well
priamo abandon after a stage win, giving a lame excuse
pozzovivo has been riding "normally"
for a continental team, not bad
