I hate PCM, because somehow it decided that my sprinters with 72 Spr and Acc just shouldn't sprint and instead my GC guy with under 70 Spr should do..
Until now there was not even one stage, where Schnaidt/Traksel/Brammeier even have tried to go for a sprint...
However, I can't be unsatisfied, because for now De Vries is in a pretty good position. Though i would have given everything to see Butler winning instead of getting third. 1/5 sponsor goals wouldn't be so nice at all (still better than Orica )

Good news for Caja Rural, they're above 0 again!
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

With 14km riden, Piedra (CJR) and Vandenbergh (OPQ) where the first riders to break.
105km to Van Goolen (AJW), Louder (UHC), Van Niekerk (MTN) and Beyer (CSS) attempted to bridge over to the duo in front.
Cannondale refuse to let any riders go though and everyone is reeled back in before the first intermediate sprint which wasn't contested, bit of a waste don't you think?
Over the first KoM, a Category 3 climb, Piedra tries his luck again, he is followed by Miranov (RVL).
A counter attack surprised the two in front though, Rabotti (VIN) attacks and is followed by Terpstra (OPQ). They go through the intermediate sprint with 63km left, 32 seconds ahead of Piedra and Miranov. The peloton is a further 50 seconds back.
With just 50km left, we see NetApp controlling the peloton with Benedetti on the front to good effect, the leaders have 3'00"
The front two went through the last KOM with 37km to go, they have a 2'45" advantage, Piedra drops Miranov who goes straight back into the peloton. he has a slender gap back to the peloton.
With 30km to go there is a massive gap caused by the descent, NetApp and Cannondale pushed hard and Warbasse just couldn't keep the wheel for BMC, that's very bad news for TJ, who has missed the selection of the group of 27 in front! Birt also misses out for TNE but they won't worry to much about that. On the up hill selection the group of 27 push on and in the peloton they all start looking at each other the gap increases and increases.
With 25km to go we get our first shot of the small selection, Konig is here most importantly, Cannondale /King push on with assistance from NetApp. Looks like the peloton have stop riding completely with riders having their leads up the road, the gap to the peloton now is 4'30"!
Europcar decide to relay, their leader Kim is up the road and Coquard won't be able to contest now, a will of good faith for TVG? Gap is now 4'15"
On the last climb of the day now, it's unclassified. It's short and steep and could have been a spring board for punchers but with the trio now together it doesn't look like that will happen. They have the break in their sights though, they shouldn't last much longer.
But with 10km to go they still have 1'33" lead. The TJ group is now 5'00" back, the pre-race favourite won't be the winner this year, the leadership will be given over to Jordan Lewis.
7.5km to go, NetApp refuse to cooperate here, it's been King all by himself for the last couple of kilometers and he is struggling. NetApp with more tactics trying to stop riders getting time bonuses perhaps?
5km to go, the win will be contested between the three.
It's Rabotti who stretches out first, he doesn't want a straight line shoot out with Terpstra who doesn't respond.
Piedra has nothing left in the tank, he is paying for his earlier efforts, combativity award goes to him today and he'll get third.
Terpstra tries to fight back, this is going to be close...
He closes the gap. Konig group and TJ group both stop riding.
[imghttps://i.share.pho.to/e8f8555d_l.png][/img]
Terpstra cannot maintain his paces though, Rabotti stays strong.
He puts his hands in the air, the climber takes a stage win on a day when you would put your mortgage on a bunch sprint but this Tour of California is full of surprises. Piedra comes in 53 seconds later.
Sagan wins the sprint in the Konig group, another victory slipped away.
Farrar wins the peloton sprint, almost 8 minutes back from the winner Rabotti.

Exactly what I was going to say in the report, because that's what I thought straight away
Does he have a goal here?

Ffs.. could've won 3 stages already. At least we forced a split and got rid of some big names. GC is looking good for Sagan. |

NetApp with more tactics trying to stop riders getting time bonuses perhaps?
Thank God, smartest AI ever! Otherwise Rui Costa would be the new leader now.
Besides that, what a race! No filler stages, only killer!

Ioannis looking well: 20th in the GC.
Good to see MTN in the break, although the result is a bit disappointing

Ok, I'm not a bad loser (I think you can tell) but I've had enough of this bullshit now. This is the worst AI ever created in gaming history. I have failed a goal because Cyanide are incompetent.
"Ok Boss, we're gonna stop riding now, a split's occurred and the peloton are 10 bike lengths ahead. We just can't catch them, so we'll sit up and save energy for tomorrow."
"What do you mean, just get a few guys on the front, they're only 20 seconds in front!"
"No boss, sorry. We have a guy in the front group who has already lost three minutes and has no chance of getting in the top five overall."
"Oh, fair enough. Good point. Phinney, Warbasse, Powers, Lander, you guys just do nothing. Don't worry about achieving something in one of our biggest races of the season."
Sorry if I lose my sense of humour for the rest of this race but I just don't give a crap any more. And what's worse? I'm now relying on Evans to cheer me up.

I just don't know how the split happened that way, I checked the replay for a crash, but it was just the descent of like 200 metres and BMC thought fuck it |
