The 3rd stage between Luzern and Mürten is a tricky one. In the 182 kilometres, the riders have to climb the difficult Glaubenberg (13.9km at 7.7%) and when they head to the west of Switzerland, they'll face many hills, including an uphill finish at the Bois de Mont (2.4km at 7.8%).

99km to go
Wout Poels is in the attack today, trying to defend his KOTM-jersey. But lack of form, makes he can't take part in the sprints for the KOTM-points. Mirko Selvaggi (Vacansoleil) has a great day, and wins 2 of the 3 KOTM-sprints, and takes over the pink jersey at the end of the day, with the same amount of points as our Dutch guy.
Both riders are part of a 9-man BOTD, including riders as Matti Breschel (Rabobank), Lars Ytting Bak (Lotto) and Rui Costa (Movistar). Their maximum lead to the peloton is 8'30, but they get caught with less than 15km to go.

7km to go
The peloton (the 63 riders that still are in it after the many, many short steep hills) is preparing for the final climb, the Bois de Mont. But suddenly 3 riders attack: David Le Lay (AG2R), Enrico Gasparotto (Lampre) and the number 4 of the Giro d'Italia, Vincenzo Nibali.

2km to go
The 3 start the last climb with a gap of 28 seconds to the peloton. Robert Gesink is well positioned within the peloton, in the wheel of Denis Menchov.

1km to go
Nibali is the strongest from the 3 leaders and entering the last kilometre (with gradients up to 11%), he leads with 20 seconds. Le Lay and Gasparotto have been caught by Fabian Wegmann, Matthias Frank and Denis Menchov. Gesink, Frank Schleck and Ryder Hesjedal follow a few seconds behind.

Finish
Nibbles takes his 3rd win of the year (the first 2 were ITT's in the Giro) and also becomes the new leader in the GC. Menchov, Schleck, Frank, Wegmann, Gesink and Hesjedal follow at '17, a second group with Samuel Sánchez, Cancellara and Wiggins at '37. 10 riders finish outside the time limit, including Matthew Hayman and Leif Hoste.

Word from the DS
This stage was way more difficult than everybody expected. The first climb (Glaubenberg) was killing, and the short climbs later in the stage were causing a real splitting in the peloton. Gesink (and Dekker of course) did great, and has climb to the 13th place in the GC. It looks like Nibali, Frank Schleck (if he survives tomorrow's ITT) and Menchov are the 3 strongest riders here.

Yea, pretty good 6th place today. Looking forward to the mountains.

Nothing else to add, Gesink rode very well. Wink

Nice riding by Gesink

@ all: Yea, Gesink did surprisingly well, considering a fitness of 74. He was following Menchov, so could save some energy.

Before the 3 mountain stages, the GC will be shaken up in the 27.3km long time trial around the Mürtensee. Yesterday's final climb, the Bois de Mont, has to be climbed again, but further the route is flat. We don't have high expectations, according to the fitness levels of our riders.
img17.imageshack.us/img17/9382/etappe4.jpg

The first rider who sets a good time is Rabobank's Jos van Emden. He needs 39'42 for the route, taking the first place (and will ens up in 10th today).
img201.imageshack.us/img201/5038/1vanemden.jpg

Lieuwe Westra is '26 slower than his countrymen. His time of 40'08 is good enough for the 24th time of the day, and is the best of our team today.
img848.imageshack.us/img848/7770/2westra.jpg

Maxime Monfort sets a new best time of 39'41. Yes, 1 second faster than Van Emden.

But his time won't last long. U25-leader Edvald Boasson Hagen sets a new best time, '3 faster than Monfort.
img710.imageshack.us/img710/7462/4ebh.jpg

One of the favourites for the win today is Tony Martin. And he surely doesn't disappoint, with a time of 39'06, 32 seconds faster than EBH.
img685.imageshack.us/img685/5383/5martin.jpg

What can Robert Gesink do, with a fitness of 76?? He rides a time of 40'24 and will end in the 32nd time of the day. Not bad, not bad....
img513.imageshack.us/img513/7190/6gesink.jpg

Samuel Sánchez rides a very good ITT, 3rd time so far, '30 behind Martin.
img534.imageshack.us/img534/4401/7snchez.jpg

The top 5 of the GC has started. Bradley Wiggins, one of the pre-race favourites, is '20 faster than Martin and sets a new best time: 38'46.
img401.imageshack.us/img401/7889/8wiggins.jpg

Matthias Frank isn't a great time-trialist, so he has to minimize his loss. And he manages to do it, 1'08 behind Wiggins.
img268.imageshack.us/img268/2249/9frank.jpg

At the summit of the Bois de Mont, Denis Menchov was '1 behind Wiggins. In the flat part, he loses another '17 and rides the 2nd time so far.
img585.imageshack.us/img585/3786/10menchov.jpg

The favourite to win this ITT is Fabian Cancellara, especially after his win in the prologue. Close to his hometown Bern, he fullfills the expectations and pressure on his shoulders. With a time of 38'25 he'll win this ITT with a difference of '21. Unless, Nibali can surprise!
img822.imageshack.us/img822/5469/11cancellara.jpg

GC-leader Vincenzo Nibali gives the full 100% to stay in the leader's jersey, but it isn't enough. He rides the 5th time of the day, '51 behind Cancellara.

Word from the DS
Not a good result from the team, but it was expected. One more flat stage to go, before the mountains shake up the GC.

The riders head to the south of Switzerland in stage 5, 198 almost completely flat kilometres between Biel and Sion. A pretty strong wind from the side makes it difficult for the riders.
img195.imageshack.us/img195/3217/etappe5.jpg

111km to go
14 riders form todays's BOTD and they take a gigantic advantage to the peloton of 12 minutes. So for sure, one of these riders will win today.
The names: Assan Bazayev (Astana), Juan José Cobo (Nespresso), Francesco Ginanni (Androni), Fabio Felline (Nespresso), Cristiano Fumagalli (Pisanellastoria), Lucas Sebastián Haedo (Saxo), Greg Henderson (Astana), Martin Kohler (BMC), Andrea Moletta (Lampre), Manuele Mori (Lampre), Martin Mortensen (Vacansoleil), Francisco José Pacheco (Movistar), Alexander Porsev (Katusha), Job Vissers (Rabobank).
img846.imageshack.us/img846/6558/1111km.jpg

17km to go
The leading group stays together, untill 17 kilometres before the finish in Sion. Martin Kohler attacks and only Andrea Moletta can follow him. The other 12 are already '47 behind and the peloton follows at 6'28.
img826.imageshack.us/img826/2310/317km.jpg

9km to go
As said before, the wind is pretty strong and becuase of that, many echelons are formed. We're not in Holland, it's in Switzerland between the Alps..... A big group of 91 riders is together and in it, all the GC-contenders, except nr. 15 Geraint Thomas.
img27.imageshack.us/img27/8148/49kme.jpg

Finish
Kohler and Moletta can fight for the stage win and for the 3rd time in 5 stages, the win goes to a rider out of Switzerland. Martin Kohler easily outsprints Moletta and takes the biggest win in his career.
Francesco Ginanni wins the sprint fr the 3rd place at 1'16.

Word from the DS
Everybody who tought the stage would be easy, was wrong. Due to the strong wind, it was an exhausting. Now, show me the mountains!!

The 6th stage from Martigny to Verbier is one extremely difficult one. 4 mountain passes, the Villars-sur-Ollon (11.9km at 6.8%), the Plan Foyat (11.4km at 7.8%), the Col de Planches (8.4km at 8.0%) and the Col du Lein (16.6km at 7.2) and the a mountain top finish to Verbier (9.5km at 7.4%) make up for a total of 58 ascending kilometres and a total height difference of 5097 metres......

145km to go
7 riders are in the attack today, and of course WOut Poels is one of them. The co-leader in the KOTM-rankings leads the group over the Villars-sur-Ollon and is followed by Matthew Llooyd (Astana), Mads Christensen (Saxo), Marcel Wyss (Nespresso), Eddy Ratti (Pisanellastoria), John Darwin Atapuma (Colombia) and Americo Novembrini (Androni). The peloton follows at 2'51.
img651.imageshack.us/img651/821/1145km.jpg

121km to go
5 riders attack out of the peloton in the descend and the join the leading group in the valley before the 2nd climb starts. KOTM-leader Mirko Selvaggi (Vacansoleil), Andrey Amador (Movistar), Martin Elmiger (BMC) and the 2 Katusha Joan Horrach and Javier Moreno make it a 12-man BOTD. The peloton is 3'19 behind.
img21.imageshack.us/img21/1755/2121km.jpg

92km to go
Poels wants to sprint for the KOTM-points awarded at the summit of the Col de Planches, but has to be satisfied with the 3rd place, behind Lloyd and Wyss. The 12 have become 8, since Elmiger, Horrach, Novembrini and Ratti have been dropped.
img823.imageshack.us/img823/9590/392km.jpg

68km to go
One more summit and again 2 riders that have been dropped. Selvaggi and Christensen can't follow the pace in the ascend of the Col de Planches and are over a minute behind. Wyss takes the most points, followed by Lloyd and Poels. The peloton has taken it slowly and is 6'20 behind.
img221.imageshack.us/img221/3193/468kmrlt.jpg

36km to go
In the descend and the long part in the valley towards the foot of the Col du Lein, today's penultimate climb, the riders from the Radio Shack - team increase the pace of the peloton. So almost halfway up the Col du Lein, the 6 leaders have an advantage of 2'28. Between the leading group and the peloton rides one lonely climber: Daniel Martin attacked early in the climb and tries to close the gap to the leaders.
img80.imageshack.us/img80/3827/536km.jpg

31km to go
Frank Schleck has settled himself in the lead of the peloton and ascends with a teribble high pace. One by one, the riders get dropped. Among them is his team mate and GC-leader Fabian Cancellara. Apparantly, Spartacus must have felt earlier that he won't climb well enough and has told his team mates to increase the pace (he actually helped earlier in the valley with the chase!). Schleck, being a very luxury domestique for GC's number 2 Vincenzo Nibali, is closing th egap to the leaders very quickly.
img830.imageshack.us/img830/6573/631km.jpg

26km to go
Daniel Martin has passed the leading group and is the first at the summit. But there he gets joined by a 11-man group: Schleck and Nibali (Radio Shack), Menchov (Sony Ericsson), Wiggins (Sky), Gesink, Ryder Hesjedal (Garmin), Matthias Frank (BMC), Sánchez & Sicard (Euskaltel), Arroyo (Movistar) and Karpets (Katusha).
A group with Christian Vandevelde, Peter Velits, Pierre Rolland and Joaquím Rodríguez follows at 1'00. Tony Martin and Levi Leipheimer follow at 3'30 and Cancellara at 5'20.
img15.imageshack.us/img15/3131/726km.jpg

10km to go
The most of the work in the leading group is done by Nibali, Wiggins and Menchov, the numbers 2, 3 and 4 of the GC. Robert Gesink was able to save his legs towards the foot of the last climb of the day. None of the riders that were left behind, could come closer to this group again.
img545.imageshack.us/img545/4103/810km.jpg

2500m to go
Frank Schleck took the lead of the group in the first half of the climb, before Denis Menchov took over with 4km to go. When devil Didi is shouting um further up the climb, Martin, Sicard and Karpets have been dropped and also Wiggins is in big problems now!
img440.imageshack.us/img440/2199/92500m.jpg

Finish
No attacks in the last 2 kilometres, only a very high pace. The sprint starts and Nibali wins it without difficulties, bringing his team the 4th stage win in 6 stages this Tour de Suisse. Hesjedal takes the 2nd place, Menchov the 3rd and Gesink (with a form of 81!) the 6th. Schleck lost '35 and Wiggins even 1'35!

Word from the DS
A good first day in the mountains for us. Poels regained the lead in the KOTM-jersey and Gesink was already climbing with the best riders in this Tour de Suisse. This looks promising for the next 2 days in the Alps.

Since no one replied to your question before, I'll do it now. I think it looks better with the new settings, so you should keep it according to me. A bit lighter than the old one.

And Gesink is doing well too. Hoping for something similar in the Tour.

Nibali is very strong, but at least Gesink didn't lose time.

And I agree with Pelli, the new screens look very good!

Agreed with Pelli here. Some nice pics in the reports Smile

Gesink going strong, Nibali and Menchov look untouchable. Great ride by Poels to get the KotM jersey back Wink

Okay guys, I'll keep the new settings. Only weird thing is that when I switch cameras and look at a cyclist a bit from the side, some colours change into blue or purple ones... Think t has to do something with my (very mediocre) graphics card (Intel HD graphics).
Anyway, I'll keep it like this.

Some interesting transfer-rumours, a few weeks before the transfers market opens:
Some very big names seem to refuse contract offers from their current teams:
- Alberto Contador (Saxo Bank)
- Fabian Cancellara (Radio Shack)
- Edvald Boasson Hagen (Sony Ericsson)
- Frank Schleck (Radio Shack)
- Matti Breschel (Rabobank)
- Philippe Gilbert (Lotto)
- Cadel Evans (Katusha)

I'll try to sign one of them, what do you think?
- A cobbled rider along Terpstra and Maaskant (Cancellara - Breschel)
- A GC-rider along Andy Schleck and Gesink (Contador, Evans) note: when I'll do this, I'll probably "drop" Schleck or Gesink with the editor.
- A hilly rider / allrounder along Andy Schleck, Sagan and Vanendert (Gilbert - EBH).

What do you think?

If you could sign Cancellara it would be awesome! He is quite an allrounder. But I think that you do not need more climbers.

In my opinion Cancellara is the best option.
But if you want to stay Benelux, I would go for Phillippe Gilbert.

Miguel98
Edvald Boasson Hagen is a freakin beast, he's a great all-rounder, I think is the best signing.
Also, Matti Breschel is a great cyclist, he's a great cobbler, sprinter and rides well in hill, so i think also a great signing.
So i think you should sign this two and Frank Schleck to become a helper of Andy.
