Step 1: The Hog says he'll never sign another portuguese rider again
Step 2: The Hog signs Cardoso
Step 3: The Hog signs Oliveira
Then again The Hog has never actually had any credibility.....ever.

When/why did he say that. And then why is Paulinho in the squad

When three Liberty Seguros riders tested positive. About two days after they'd signed Machado.
olabj wrote:

Because Paulinho was signed far before that.

Bjarne Riis says that he's done signing 'top riders'.
So no Michael Rogers and Monfort, I guess.

Top riders.. and then you say Rogers and Monfort.. On a more serious note, if Conta gets banned Saxo is really down with a broken back, but as I said in the News thread.. Rasmussen??

If Nuyens is a top rider - which Riis kinda indicated - so is Monfort and Rogers |

Now Oliveira says he hasn't signed yet with Radio Shack. He says he's in negotiations with them and with Team Letzeburg or whatever the name is. |

"all that money"
I doubt, in comparison, it would BE all that money. For the amount of high quality wins Cav supplies, he's probably getting quite dicked on.
That's not saying I agree with the quantity of money cyclists at that level get though, because it's probably quite ludicrous.

Depends on last year's extension.
If it was a renewal, he'll be on his 2009 wages, which are likely waaaaaaay too low. If it was a negotiable extension (I doubt it), he's probably overpaid for this year's production.
Either way, he'll get a very nice payoff soon.
Criticizing the team in public, though? Very unprofessional.
EDIT: Unless it's the media making crap up. Which is a possibility.

It is, and they often do. It IS the media, afterall.
However, we do know things he's said before, and everything people say have some truth/feeling behind them. Always.
Anyway, what I was going to say, was something about me thinking Greipel is quite a nicer keeper-of-opinions-to-himself (going on a Tour of Britain interview I've just watched), whereas Cav isn't. He appears (no thanks to media, I'm sure) as a twat some times.
But I still loves him, so I do.
He's the same height as me.

It's also not unheard of for riders to say they never said that, only for reporters to produce an audio tape of them saying just what was quoted.
I should point out that the media, although pretty bad, aren't generally as bad as you're used to. English media tend to be worse than most (as evidenced by studies that show that it's the european country where the local population, on average, gives the papers the least credibility)

Remember San Remo this year? Greipel wasted a perfectly good opportunity to shut up.

I thought you said you were 1,69m? (I remember cause we discussed how it's the same as RodrÃguez ).

Wouldnt surprise me if they are exactly Cav's words, wouldnt surprise me if theyre exaggerated in some way.
At the end of the day, HTC have to react with a higher contract offer - Im assuming Cavendish must give them quite a bit of pulling power in terms of attracting sponsors.

True, many people say things, then deny.
Can we really can cyclingnews English... do we have to?

He may not have said anything like this before, but my point was... if he now goes and denies it, there is always some truth in what was first said - if it was actually said.

Sorry, I don't remember exactly - is that anti or pro Cav?

You are quite right. I thought Cav was about the same?

It's neither. It's Greipel shouldn't have mouthed off to the press. He wasn't happy about not being selected. Fine, I wouldn't like to have a rider on my team who didn't mind not being selected for big races when he's in good form.....but if he feels slighted, tell it to the team manager, not the press.

1,75m actually.
You might want to start liking Freire (1,71m)
