Cunego now in 6th place overall . Basso gone.
Indeed! Cunego has luck for the first time this Giro
And for Rodriguez... If Hesjedal does a "Cadel Evans TdF 2008" act he could win. Otherwise not. And De Gendt could do 2nd or 3rd and in case Hesjedal collpases under presseure maybe 1st (I'm belgian you see )

Great stuff from de Gendt, really enjoyed that - great to see the risky early attack pay off in such a big way.
Nice little sub plot with the points jersey. Of course Cavendish is like Marmite either love him or hate him (and I can fully understand both positions) but those 2 crashes in the flat stages (and Guardini's fantastic sprint) predictably cost him, even though the points jersey went right to the wire. At least Purito will have some deserved consolation if it all does go pear shaped in the TT, though I hope it won't. However, I can't pretend I wasn't willing Scarponi on in the last km
Cavendish to win the TT tomorrow with Purito in 2nd please |

Absolutely amazing ride by De Gendt. Cunego did nice aswell.
To bad the win will go to one of the riders that forgot their balls in Denmark though.
Also, why the hell did both OPQS and Sky work for Garmin today? :/

in the vuelta last year, jr lost over 5 miutes on martin in the TT. which is more as 1s - km. TdG needs less than that to pass JR in the GC |

in 2011 TDF he lost 1,29 on him but im to lazy to calculate it all out. it doesnt matter anywat what who did in previous GT´s.
the only thing that matters is how they will ride tomorrow |

Yeah but it's after 20 Race days, and TdG was 4Th in Grenoble after finishing 6th on Alpe.
Hesjedal never really had to TT for such high prizes.

I noticed that last year in TdS (32km) and P-N (27km), De Gendt gained about 1.10-1.20 on Hesjedal in both TT's. Ofcourse, both riders are in different shape now. Hesjedal has the obvious edge, but i'd love De Gendt to surprise me.

And don't forget: Hesjedal has all pressure on him, De Gendt can only surprise. Also an important factor.
Let's see tomorrow, speculations are useless...

BTW, Henao is on 11th at 7:20. If he didn't have to wait he would had Top 10... really bad orders by Sky's DS there.

The bad orders were when they told him to pull for god knows what reason.

Yes, but Henao isn't great either. I'd say that Henao might be slightly better. He has a chance but I really doubt it.
Anyway it was great effort from him throughout and hopefully next year will come back here to contend for the overall victory.

Henao should do the ITT better than POZZOVIVO, NIEVE and GADRET but dont think it would be enaugh for 10 place.
I hope Sky will come again next Year with Uran and Henao but without Cav. Would love to see if they can achive a top 3 if they dont have to work for Cav. They were the only leaders who had to work for the sprints and his own GC.

Porte said he wants to lead the team next year here so I doubt Uran will be coming next year. Henao might, but isn't sure of that either. Tour climbs suit him much better as a climber so I wouldn't rule out a place for him at the Tour next year, as well as it promises to be more mountainous than usual

Why anybody should give a s*** about what Porte wants? Oh, I almost forgot. He finished 7th in 2010 Giro because of that big breakaway in stage to L'Aquila. No but seriously if Henao/Uran and Porte both go to same GT then I would choose one of first two as a leader rather than Richie. |

Ummm Porte is probably Sky's best climber this year along Nordhaug ( not counting Henao here as he alwyas had the potential to be the best ) He was great at Algarve winning it quite easily but the PN made it for me. The way he pulled the peleton on Mende was pure class. That's why he got the Tour spot guaranteed as well.
Porte is definitely an improved climber and much better climber than Uran. Henao will be much better next year but I am not sure he will be coming here.

LOL Porte the best climber along Nordhaug
Hilarious.
Henao and Uran in a GT rip Porte apart. |
