Thanks Alakagon. But before PR I will have to report a "shitty" Pais Vasco first.
Vuelta al Pais Vasco - Stage 3
Balmaseda - Viana
A lot of climbing again. Unfortunately we don`t have any guy for the overall now after Sanchez crash. So we will try to get a rider into the break.
The group is formed and now Garmin rider there. Unfortunately the peloton was always faster after we attacked. No luck again.
Sanchez (Euskaltel), Seeldreyers (Omega), who crashed together with Sanchez but further behind, Ulissi (Lampre), Koren (Liquigas), Meersman (FDJ), Kišerlovski (Skil) and Ventoso (RadioShack).
Movistar and Astana doing the work in the peloton. For our team it`s a calm day. Sanchez will wait for tomorrow`s stage.
On the last climb Cobo Acebo is the first with an attack. Cataldo, Riblon and some others are trying to follow.
But none of them were able to stay in the lead. With 3km to go Tony Martin attacked and LL Sanchez tried to follow, without big success.
But Martin was able to create a gap and so he wins ahead of the better "sprinters". When will this guys stop to win that much He is now the top favourite for the overall.

Crashes are the worst, but we have to live with it in PCM and real cycling. Not much you can do. Good luck for PR! |

Thanks both of you. Indeed it`s part of the sport, but nevertheless very annoying if it happens that often and mostly your leaders But as long as I still have quite good results, I`m fine with that.
Vuelta al Pais Vasco - Stage 4
Viana - Vitoria Gasteiz
Another hilly stage. It will be the last one in Pais Vasco. The next stages are flat and a ITT.
After his crash two days ago Sanchez planned something on this stage. Will he be able to gain time today?
The first break of 7 riders. No Sanchez in there but this was expected as it is too early. But unfortunately also Kreder missed the group again.
Scheirlinckx (Omega), Sulzberger (FDJ), Reynès Mimo (HTC), Txurruka (Euskaltel), Loubet (Ag2r), De Kort (Rabobank) and Bono (Lampre).
With 65km and 3 hills left to go Sanchez attacks on the steepest part of the climb. Nobody follows him and so he creates a gap.
He rides solo over the next 2 hills and overtakes more and more riders of the break.
On the last hill he will reach the group but unfortunately his advance was never bigger than 1-2min. Obviously the peloton wouldn`t let him go.
So he gets caught on the final descent again with 10km to go.
Another day without losing time to the favourites. But this won`T be enough for him this time.
Vaugrenard was the fastest in the final sprint. He wins ahead of Kreuziger and F.Schleck. Most favourites were in this 46 rider group including Sanchez.
Just all the RadioShack and Euskaltel riders and Ricco felt back today.
So there are still 21 riders with a realistic chance to win this race. Best time trialists might be Martin, Wiggins, Kreuziger and Lövkvist.

Thanks all.
@Alakagom
Ardennes will be very hard with Hesjedal (78)/Vansummeren (77) as leaders. But I will give my best. Top10 would already be a success.
Vuelta al Pais Vasco - Stage 5
Vitoria Gasteiz - Hernani
The 5th stage is the first possible sprint finish. So Matthew Goss will try his luck today.
But the 4km long hill a few kilometers before the finish could already be a problem for some sprinters.
A good opportunity for an attack?
All early attacks were caught back quite fast. Also Kreder and Meyer tried it without success.
So it was just Paul Martens leading the race after the half of the stage. 2min behind him Gary Hand (Colnago) tried to join but in the end he will fall back behind the peloton.
But Martens was successful. He wins todays stage after a nice solo ride. Deserved win as the sprinter teams didn`t work together very well.
Can he do great in the Ardennes again as in 2011? His form seems to be quite good.
Reynes wins the sprint for the 2nd with +1'07 ahead of Keukeleire and Goss. Also Sanchez as 6th showed that he had a good form actually.

Thanks Pellizotti.
Vuelta al Pais Vasco - Stage 6
Hernani - Hernani
The Pais Vasco ends with a hilly timetrial. As mentioned earlier there aren`t that many great time trialists left in the first favourite pack.
Time to beat: Levy Leipheimer: 31'33
Luis Leon Sanchez quite early on the road. His time is good but after his solo effort on day 4 he won`t get a top result. He gets the actual 2nd behind the American.
31'46
Lövkvist is faster than Sanchez and takes the 2nd.
31'38
T.Martin incredibly strong. He almost overtakes A.Efimkin ahead of him.
New best time: 30'59
Kreuziger with a great time. 2nd behind the German.
31'22
Wiggins was also a big favourite for the overall and stage win but he can`t beat Martin.
31'10
Vaugrenard also had a great spring so far. Many good results. Also today he will enter the top10.
30'36
So Tony Martin will win the next big Pro Tour race in his career. He is just doing that great in this time of the year.
Unfortunately it wasn`t a very successful race for us. Sanchez could have joined the top 10 after this time trial. But his big goal this season is the Tour de France.
And actually we weren`t as bad as RadioShack and Euskaltel. All the Basque fans on the road weren`t happy at all.

(Its a football reference when someone scores a nice touchdown)
Tony Martin is unbeatable, must be early form. Nice TT by Sanchez though |

Paris Roubaix or the "The Hell of the North" is one of the most famous bicycle races in the world and leads over more than 50km cobbles and about 250km in general. The first edition was in 1896 with the German winner Josef Fischer.
Most wins has the Belgian Roger De Vlaeminck with 4 wins between 1972 and 1977.

Garmin squad in 2012
Of course all our specialists are here. Especially Maaskant trained on this event and is in a great shape and with Haussler we have a possible winner in a sprint finish. One thing we missed the last 2 seasons.
Vansummeren, Felline and Boom will be free riders but when the other helpers struggle they also have to work for our two leaders.
Our goal is a top5 as we have two options. Both of our leaders were in the top 10 last year, but it will be much harder on extreme.

The two biggest names missing are Devolder and Gilbert. Especially the first is surprising as he showed a strong performance on the cobbles in the last week. But the start list is still amazingly strong. |

@ Pellizotti: Yes. Especially on the cobbles we have lots of options. But as Vansummeren is also focussing on the Ardennes, Boom and Felline on some one day races and Farrar and Fischer are just as helpers here we can`t expect too much of them.
Paris - Roubaix
What a stage. Long, flat and very very hard due to all the cobbled sections. More than 40km in general and some of the sections are in really bad conditions. So the riders must be concentrated all over the race as one puncture or crash at the wrong time can destroy all your dreams here.
4 riders in the break, which took 60km before they had success. Former Garmin rider Danielson (HTC) together with Calzati (FDJ), Gutiérrez (Geox) and Hernández (Astana). But the peloton isn`t very friendly today and so the advance is neever higher than 2 minutes.
The first section. Luckily the pace is quite slow but nevertheless the field is very long on the narrow roads and there are already the first punctures.
Andy Capelle (An Post) with an attack. Still 110km to go. The group was already caught and nobody wants to follow him. He is a quite good classics rider but can he surprise the peloton wiht such a long solo attack?
With 60km to go just ~50 riders in the first group. Still 5 Garmin riders there but Felline will fall back soon. But good for us as he is still fighting a lot to bring some more water bottles to his leaders. Great effort from the young Italian.
Unfortunately none of our 8 riders with a positive daily form!!!
Maaskant, VanDerVelde (-2), Boom (-1), all others (0).
What a shame as this is very important on these classics.
The first favourites attack. Cancellara, Pozzato, Langeveld and Ballan and Van Avermaet in the back try their luck. This is a very strong group but Garmin and Quickstep are working very good together.
Meanwhile the two RadioShack leaders Spilak and Steegmans crashed like many more. While Steegmans felt back very far, Spilak was able to stay in the first group together with Rosseler.
The group looks very strong now and more and more riders fall back and can`t help their leaders, so Haussler and Maaskant also try to jump to the small group around Cancellara.
But in the end they felt back into the group together with Van Avermaet, Ballan and Langeveld. Just Cancellara and Pozzato in the lead now.
The Suisse enters the velodrome alone as also Pozzato wasn`t able to follow. He will win again after 2010.
That was a typical Cancellara win. Attack, getting rid of all contenders and then a solo into the finish. Great performance by him.
Pozzato saved the 2nd ahead of the very close coming Boonen, Breschel and Eisel. A few seconds behind Haussler wins the sprint for the 6th of a bigger group, where also Maaskant and Vansummeren were in.
Not a top5 but especially with this daily form we can be very happy with Haussler`s result.
