Transfer Season 09/10

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Contador is interested in getting Basso to Astana. Basso already has a contract for the 2010 season, though.

Speaking of Contador, Eddy Merckx says that Conta has signed a 2-year-contract with Astana.

I think he goes to Saxo Bank.. Too little money - cheap riders like LSH or Porte are coming Wink

Austrians Christoph Sokoll and Josef Benetseder, Swiss riders Silvere Ackermann and Reto Hollenstein. Slovenian Matic Strgar and Italian Andrea Capelli stay with Voralberg. They've also announced the signing of Piergiorgio Camussa.

Weren't there talks about the team disbanding?

I know about Elk-Haus. I just remember something about Vorarlberg too.

Kolobnev confirms that Katusha is interested in buying him.

As I said when I posted the rumour, I can imagine Saxo Bank saying yes to some Russian millions, considering the financial problems that they have.

Portugal's national champion Manuel Cardoso signed with Xacobeo too, the news are yet to be released, I think, at least acording to the rider.

Filipe Cardoso, Hernâni Brôco and José Mendes to Paredes Rotas dos Móveis (don't know if this is relevant or not Frown)

Landis has now officially been released from his contract with OUCH. He'll join a team that's more Europe-based than OUCH. Some rumours say Rock Racing...

Hey, that would be fun Pfft

That said, I find Rock Racing unlikely if he wants to ride for an European based team. If Rock Racing gets a Pro Cont license, I can understand Landis going to RR, but ... that's just not going to happen Wink

Besides Versus, the only other channel that covers cycling here in the us is Universal Sports, which is NBC's dedicated channel for Olympic sports. The announcers for it are beyond stupid. If you go look up important events from the Giro and Vuelta this year on youtube, you can find some videos of their coverage. Anyway, my favorite quote from this year was by the color guy for their coverage during the Nature Valley Grand Prix, which Landis was riding in. I don't remember the exact words, but the guy attributed Landis' struggles this year to a lack of confidence that came about from the whole tdf doping saga, and then finished by saying Landis is still a world-class rider.

I tend to think he is still a world class rider. I bet if he got on all the most expensive top drugs that all the other top riders are on, he'd be pretty solid. But a small team can't afford those drugs, so it's either dope witht the stuff that's easy to catch... or don't dope and look really bad.

Give him the same drugs the top teams use and his 23rd in the Tour of California becomes a top 5. I don't think he'd be at a contador/gesink/schleck type level... but he could probably equal vandevelde.
