So... should CSC send Sastre on the first attack to test Evans to try to weaken him for Schleck... or the reverse? |

I think so. especially because the steepest sections are the bottom ones.

Yes... but something like 18 of the last 25 riders to wear the yellow after the Alpe D' Huez went on to win the Tour.
It's not so much about winning the stage as it is about having the lead after the stage... for example if Andy Wins but Kohl puts in an insane climb to get second with 3 minutes on the rest.... that would still count as "making champions" I think. |

The big guys have got to keep attacking Evans, if he is struggling they need to keep battering him. He will find it hard to find a rythm on this climb. |

If i remember right all every time TDF has been on Alpe D'Huez the guy with the yellow jersey after stage has also won the race I'm not sure if the "curse" has been broken.

10 k to the start of the Alpe d'Huez climb I think that CSC will attack very early on the climb.
Peter Velits and Jerome Pineau has 2 minutes on the peleton now.

Andy Schleck will hit the bottom first and put a really hard pace to follow on to try and rid them of a lot of the riders and leave it to frank and sastre to try and beat
evans and put big time in him otherwise Evans wins the tour |

Cancellara is shutting the gap to the break down and the break will only have about 30 seconds coming to the foot of the climb. |

CSC's DS Rory Sutherland: "Menchov lost time downhill because he was at 110% uphill."
he also hinted Menchov would lose time today.
It can happen, no doubt at all. I just think it's more likely that Frank loses time.

It will be more than 30 seconds at the foot of Huez

Peter Velits has done a fantastic job today, and he is still young and a rider for the future. It would have been fun if he could have won this stage, but as you say Guido, 2 minutes isn't enough.

I was making an estimation to at what speed the gap was coming down when Cancellara was going at the maximum. |

Now the gap back to the yellow jersey group from Velits and Pineau is now 1.28 minutes, and it's 3 k to the bottom of the climb, so the gap at the bottom will not be less than 1 minute.
