EPIC - Season 1 Part 1
Atlantius
Had hoped to see de las Campos a bit higher in the final GC, but the mountain jersey is a very nice bonus for the team!

Thanks for some good reporting, though there wasn't a lot of Euskaltel action to report...

And another goal failed... bring on part 2 now, don't think Cannondale will do much in the rest of part 1. Wink

De las Campos quite disappointing, but he just needs a hill boost. Smile

The new rider ranking top 50. Brouwer loses his first place, while Cancellara makes up for his mediocre season start by winning Milan - San Remo. But the lead goes to Nairo Quintana, after dominating Tirreno-Adriatico.

And here's the team ranking. OPQS still holds the lead, but Movistar and Sky shoot up the rankings. Belkin holds off RadioShack for 4th, but then there's a big gap forming with Argos. BMC and Lotto are back after a poor start, while Katusha is going down rapidly. Garmin closes the top 10, but all teams are close from here on. Europcar remains the strongest CT team.

Yay. The rankings made me discover that I in the joy of Sánchez' podium missed that Nieve found his way in the top 10 on that stage as well Grin

Right, looking at the season goals. Movistar is looking best at the moment, with 4/4, though it's both their hard goals they still need. Lotto is 3/3, they need one of each still. All other teams have missed at least one goal already.

NetApp is looking bad, though it's hard without a manager. IAM and FDJ are even down 4/4. Yet Lampre is off worst, with 5/5 down. The need a Top 10 Catalunya easy goal to save their season.

Two teams have finished already: Orica-Greenedge had some bad luck combined with a lack of Gossy they end 1/6. Bardiani did better, they have made 3/6 season goals.

I thought only the countered goals counted. That's gonna hurt since I didn't take the "original" goals into consideration when planning Shock

@Atlantius Really?
Well, that sucks.
But I thought it was pretty obvious, otherwise you could just come up with the most hard goals you can think of, so that the countered goals(so the only goals) would be extremely easy Wink

But Sammy made your easy goal though.

Yeah, had alot on my plate back then so wasn't really as thorough/focused with the start-up as could have been needed.

Anyway I think it's only the P-N goal that was really forfeited by this as I'm sending strong squads to all the Spanish races anyway Wink

Ollfardh, i believe Millar finished 7th in K-B-K, where a Top 10 was the goal. So we're only 4/5 down. Pfft

Very nice season so far Grin Some nice wins by Quintana and Valverde who are both inside the top 5 after only one race for each of them till now. (Only one more race day for Valv/ none for Quintana left in Part 1) In team rankings we are well placed in the leading group and we reached 4/4 sponsor goals till now. It seems as if we belong to the winners of the season so far. Grin

Criterium International, Stage 1
START:

i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab311/Dippofix/EPIC/PCM0099_zpsbf246bf7.jpg
Hello and welcome to Corsica for the first stage of the Criterium International! The weather is mild and sunny, and we open with a short, flat stage around Porto Vecchio. Today's favourites are Allan Davis, Sebastian Hinault, Juan Jose Lobato and Bryan Coquard.

83km:

i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab311/Dippofix/EPIC/PCM0100_zps324343d5.jpg
Irvine (UHC), Avery (CSS) and Stepniak (CCC) attack nearly straight from the gun.

64km:

i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab311/Dippofix/EPIC/PCM0101_zps58b98449.jpg
McEvoy (TNE) has joined the attackers. The gap is about a minute and it seems like we have the days breakaway.

55km:

i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab311/Dippofix/EPIC/PCM0102_zps0cc46fdf.jpg
The gap is now three minutes, this is definitely the BotD.

49km:

i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab311/Dippofix/EPIC/PCM0103_zpsbedf6b44.jpg
Avery (CSS) takes the one and only mountain sprint of the day ahead of Stepnaik and McEvoy, so he will have the honour of wearing the polka dots jersey tomorrow. Meanwhile, the gap stays pretty much the same, at 3'06“.

42km:

i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab311/Dippofix/EPIC/PCM0104_zps67a7b896.jpg
Many different teams are sharing the work at the front of the pack. The pace isn't too high, yet the gap to the breakaway has shrunken to 2'30“.

37km:

i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab311/Dippofix/EPIC/PCM0105_zpsae4a2ea0.jpg
Jonathan McEvoy easily takes the days only intermediate ahead of Avery and Stepniak. The gap is still 2'30“

30km:

i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab311/Dippofix/EPIC/PCM0106_zpsd814b784.jpg
The gap has come down to 1'56“ due to the work of Cofidis, Sky and Europcar in the Peloton.

22km:

i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab311/Dippofix/EPIC/PCM0107_zps85866413.jpg
The gap to the break is down to 1'07“. Meanwhile, Euskaltel has also joined in for the pacemaking. Lobato must be feeling good today!

17km:

i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab311/Dippofix/EPIC/PCM0108_zps6c0957e0.jpg
They can see the escapees now and vice versa, the gap is down to 36“.

16km:

i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab311/Dippofix/EPIC/PCM0109_zpsb571156c.jpg
Avery tries his luck solo, he is ahead on his own now, but you can see all three groups from the helicopter now. This is the current situation:
Avery
|
+15“

McEvoy, Stepniak, Irvine
|
+15“

Peleton

15km:

i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab311/Dippofix/EPIC/PCM0110_zpsee5c5ebb.jpg
It's game over for McEvoy, Stepniak and Irvine, as Gustav Larsson (IAM) pulls them back. Now it's only Avery ahead, his advantage has grown a tiny bit to 18“.

12km:

i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab311/Dippofix/EPIC/PCM0111_zps0863b456.jpg
Again it's a Swedish IAM rider that pulls the breakaway rider back, this time its Löfkvist. This will surely be a sprint now?

8000m:

i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab311/Dippofix/EPIC/PCM0112_zpsa389db81.jpg
It's a mix of IAM and Euskaltel riders at the front of the peleton. They surely don't want to go too fast to early?

4000m:

i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab311/Dippofix/EPIC/PCM0113_zps4bbbc1f7.jpg
With 4000 metres to go, we have two distinct trains. Euskaltel are leading Lobato out, and IAM are leading Hinault out
Larsson Minguez
Cusin Bilbao
Klemme Izagirre
Hinault Lobato
Belletti Traksel
Coquard Davis

2500m:

i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab311/Dippofix/EPIC/PCM0114_zps78ecffcf.jpg
The situation has taken a turn for the weird now, with nearly everbody behind the IAM train, with Remy Cusin at the front, whereas Bobbie Traksel is the only non-Euskaltel rider on the orange train, where it's Pello Bilbao leading the way.
Cusin Bilbao
Klemme Izagirre
Hinault Lobato
Belletti Traksel

1500:

As Izagirre and Klemme go full out, Brown has taken Geslins rear wheel (out of picture)

1000:

i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab311/Dippofix/EPIC/PCM0116_zps2b25b525.jpg
Under the Flamme Rouge, Lobato is positioned perfectly, while Klemme is too fast for Hinault. Davis, Coquard and Belletti are coming fast on the inside, whilst Traksel accelerates on the outside.

600m:

i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab311/Dippofix/EPIC/PCM0117_zps3a79341d.jpg
Lobato finally launches his sprint, while Davis is still in Coquards wheel. Hinault is desperately trying to get back to the front, while Mollema comes out of nowhere at the back.

400m:

i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab311/Dippofix/EPIC/PCM0118_zps3cae81ee.jpg
Izagirre is still in front, Lobato can't seem to find the speed to get past his lead out, while Coquard has reached him. It looks like a three way battle now!

100m:

i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab311/Dippofix/EPIC/PCM0119_zpsbf1016d7.jpg
It's Izagirre vs Coquard now, while Mollema is pushing on looking for a Top-5 spot.

FINISH:

i875.photobucket.com/albums/ab311/Dippofix/EPIC/PCM0120_zpsd0b59c2e.jpg
Izagirre raises his hands to the sky, he has it! What a victory, narrowly beating Coquard after having sprinted for near two kilometres! Belletti rounds of the Podium, while Lobato edges out Mollema, who did extremely well today, and might be eyeing the points jersey, for 5th place.
